Chapter 592: Christmas Ball (Part 2)
Chapter 592: Christmas Ball (Part 2)
An elegant bun, exquisite features, a swan-like white neck, and a high-end evening gown that looked incredibly expensive, along with a valuable blue sapphire necklace around her neck.
In her hand, a silver bracelet that emitted a faint magical glow, and a pair of crystal shoes that seemed like works of art.
At this moment, Hermione looked like a Disney princess on the run, rather than a young witch who spent her days studying magic.
"Thank you for the Christmas gift, it's beautiful."
Hearing Jerry's compliment, Hermione's cheeks turned slightly red, and she walked nervously to Jerry's side, linking her arm with his.
When she woke up this morning, she found Jerry's Christmas gift among the pile of presents on her bedside table.
Unlike the candies and cookies Harry and Ron had given her, Jerry's gift was a pair of magic crystal shoes that he had crafted himself.
These crystal shoes had multiple magical functions, including rapid movement, jumping, flying, and automatically adjusting size.
"Let's go to the entrance hall!"
Jerry turned and said to Harry and Ron, who were still marveling at Hermione's transformation, then led Hermione down the stairs to the entrance hall on the ground floor.
Of course, along the way, they encountered many Gryffindor and Ravenclaw young wizards.
Everyone who saw Hermione at first glance thought they must have mistaken her for someone else.
Previously, Hermione was only well-known within her year, and not many students in the school recognized her.
It was only after she officially became Jerry's girlfriend that she gained recognition across the entire school and even among the students of the three schools.
And because of her relationship with Jerry, she faced some challenges.
For instance, the spontaneously formed Jerry fan club, composed of some girls from the school, often subjected Hermione to verbal and visual harassment whenever they encountered her.
However, they didn't dare use magic.
First, the school did not allow students to use magic to fight, and second, under Jerry's tutelage, Hermione's magical abilities had far surpassed those of a normal student.
Once, a particularly extreme seventh-year witch tried to use dark magic to embarrass Hermione but was easily subdued by her.
As for the verbal and visual attacks, Hermione wasn't the type to be easily intimidated. Though she looked like a bookworm, she had a strong personality and was a formidable debater.
Sometimes, even the entire fan club combined couldn't argue with her.
This was one of the things Jerry appreciated about her—she could handle many situations on her own, without needing his intervention.
When they reached the entrance hall, many young wizards, dressed up in their finest, had already gathered there.
The ball was set to start at eight, so the doors to the Great Hall were still closed.
However, the students in the entrance hall were not bored. They chatted and socialized, and also admired the beautiful scenery outside, created by the professors using magic.
The Ministry of Magic's purpose in approving the Triwizard Tournament was not to determine a winner among the three schools but to foster friendly exchanges between international magic schools and promote cooperation among the Ministries of Magic in different countries.
So, the core of this Christmas ball was to enable high-year students from the three schools to meet and form good friendships early on.
Navigating through the crowd in the entrance hall, Jerry and Hermione made their way to the stairs outside.
The lawn outside the entrance hall had disappeared, replaced by a beautiful cave created by the professors using the Transformation Spell.
Outside the cave, snowflakes were scattered, while inside, there were many statues of Santa Claus and reindeers, along with beautiful rose bushes and thoughtfully prepared long stone benches.
"Jerry, look over there, so many Fairy Lights!"
Hermione pointed to the Fairy Lights twinkling like stars inside the cave, a delighted smile on her face.
Jerry followed Hermione's gaze and saw hundreds of tiny fairies holding wands, emitting a gentle glow.
He knew Hagrid had found them in the Forbidden Forest a few days ago.
Fairies are almost harmless magical creatures, about the size of a human thumb, with bodies and appearances nearly identical to those of human women.
The only difference is their thin, colorful wings, which resemble those of insects and are quite beautiful.
However, fairies are not very intelligent and have very low magical power. The wands they hold, which look like twigs, can only emit light and drive away their natural enemies—the Bubotubers.
They are naturally quarrelsome but are very vain, so they will always be obedient when witches ask them to serve as decorations.
"The opening ceremony will start soon. Let's go inside and look around!"
Seeing Hermione's interest, Jerry took her hand and led her toward the cave.
"Wait for us!"
Harry and Ron, seeing Jerry and Hermione heading into the cave, also pulled Ginny and Lavender along to follow.
After a quick tour of the cave, it was finally eight o'clock.
"Please, champions, bring your dance partners over here!"
The doors of the Great Hall opened, and Professor Mcgonagall, wearing a red plaid robe and a hat adorned with a thistle wreath, stepped out and called out to the young wizards gathered in the entrance hall.
"See you later!"
Jerry and Hermione said goodbye to Harry and Ron and walked over to Professor Mcgonagall with Krum and Fleur.
Krum's dance partner was a seventh-year Slytherin girl, and Fleur's partner was Roger Davies, the Captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team.
"Alright, you can go in now!"
After leading Jerry and the other two pairs to their designated spots in the Great Hall, Professor Mcgonagall began to have the young wizards in the entrance hall queue up and enter the Great Hall to take their seats.
A tradition of the Triwizard Tournament Yule Ball is for the three champions and their dance partners to perform the first dance.
Jerry and Hermione stood in place and noticed that the Great Hall had completely transformed.
The four house tables that usually occupied the Great Hall had been replaced with over a hundred small tables adorned with lanterns, each filled with various appetizers, wines, and beverages.
The center of the Great Hall was left empty, and the ceiling above it had been transformed into a starry night sky.
The head table, where the professors usually sat, had been replaced with a stage, and on that stage was the Weird Sisters, the most popular rock band of the year.
They were dressed in peculiar outfits, holding various instruments, and were ready to provide the music for the ball.
The headmasters and referees were already seated at nearby small tables.
Today, they were not school leaders but just guests at the ball.
"Now, please, the three champions, come forward to open our ball!"
Once everyone was seated, Professor Mcgonagall waved for Jerry and the other five to walk to the center of the Great Hall.
