Chapter 591: Hueco Mundo, Your Master Has Returned!
Chapter 591: Hueco Mundo, Your Master Has Returned!
In the southern area of East Rukongai's District 7, over a dozen Shinigami from the Second Division were engaged in a fierce battle, attempting to hold back several dozen Hollows that had appeared.
Fortunately, among these Hollows, only one was a Menos Grande, so even though the leader here was only the seventh seat officer, they could barely manage to hold their ground. After all, a single Gillian-class Menos had low intelligence and was clumsy.
In fact, if it weren't for the presence of this Menos Grande, the remaining Hollows would pose little threat, and the dozen or so Shinigami present would be more than enough to wipe them out effortlessly.
It was only because of the existence of this large Hollow that they dared not launch a full-scale attack, as if one side had a commander-in-chief, while the other lacked a leader and could only do their best to stall.
"This doesn't look good, Captain Matsuki..."
"Hold on a little longer! The reinforcements are on their way; we sent out the call for help!"
Matsuki Yuta, the seventh seat officer of the Second Division, shouted as he brandished his Zanpakuto. Despite appearing slightly disheveled, he remained calm and confident even as he faced a group of Hollows led by a Menos Grande. He knew that the Second Division was now incredibly strong, and either Soi Fon, Kaede, or Lilynette could easily destroy these Hollows.
Currently, within the Gotei 13, aside from the First Division, the Second Division was undoubtedly the strongest. They boasted three captain-level fighters, and their captain, Yoruichi, also served as the commander of the Secret Mobile Guard.
And so, the Second Division's minor predicament was not something they would bother seeking help for from other divisions because they were more than capable of handling it themselves.
The large Menos Grande, towering among the other Hollows, lumbered forward clumsily before slowly opening its mouth, from which a reddish light began to gather.
"It's a Cero! Watch out!"
Matsuki Yuta immediately shouted a warning to the nearby Shinigami upon seeing this.
The Shinigami in the vicinity remained vigilant, and hearing Matsuki Yuta's warning, they all quickly retreated, causing the Menos Grande's Cero to land harmlessly in an empty space.
"Keep them occupied and lead them to a more remote area!"
Matsuki Yuta breathed a sigh of relief and slashed down a regular Hollow that had attempted to ambush them. He then turned to the nearby Shinigami and shouted.
But just as his words trailed off, a spiritual pressure suddenly appeared on the battlefield, causing the numerous regular Hollows nearby to tremble.
"That spiritual pressure..."
Matsuki Yuta paused briefly before a look of joy appeared on his face as he looked up at the sky and said respectfully, "Captain Hatake!"
Although Kaede was still the vice-captain of the Second Division, the fact that he had refused to become the acting captain had already spread within the division. As a result, even though he maintained the rank of vice-captain, the members of the Second Division would often omit the 'vice' part when addressing him.
In their eyes, Kaede was undoubtedly qualified to be a captain, but he preferred to remain in the Second Division, hence his refusal to take on the captain's role. He wanted to continue serving as their vice-captain.
Even though Kaede had joined the Second Division less than a year ago, his popularity within the division was already close to that of Yoruichi's. The respect that countless division members held for Kaede was almost on par with their respect for their captain.
Boom!!
Kaede appeared in the sky and, with a single step, descended to stand directly in front of the Menos Grande. With a calm demeanor, he extended his hand and pushed it against the skull of the Menos Grande.
With just this simple action, the powerful Menos Grande, which had been exuding an intimidating spiritual pressure, suddenly disintegrated, its skull exploding and its body turning into spirit particles that dissipated.
Whoosh!
After obliterating the Menos Grande, Kaede waved his sleeve, unleashing a violent spiritual pressure that swept across the area, engulfing the countless regular Hollows below.
These ordinary Hollows, caught in the wake of Kaede's spiritual pressure, were like leaves in the wind, lifted and tossed about in clusters. Their bodies couldn't withstand the pressure and shattered into spirit particles, vanishing one after another.
After taking care of the Hollows, Kaede descended from the sky.
"It seems like Hollow encounters have become more frequent lately."
Kaede landed and scanned the nearby group of over a dozen Second Division Shinigami before speaking.
Matsuki Yuta sheathed his Zanpakuto, stepped forward, and bowed as he replied in a low voice, "Yes, I've heard that members of other divisions have also been encountering Hollows more often in recent months compared to before."
Kaede tilted his head back and looked up at the sky.
At this point in time, Aizen should not have gone to Hueco Mundo yet. According to his memory, Aizen's conquest of Hueco Mundo happened after Gin and Tosen had become captains.
Just as Feng Ye was pondering briefly, his gaze suddenly paused as he looked up at the sky.
In the sky, a pitch-black fissure abruptly appeared, followed by a gaping rift as if a mirror had cracked with dark fractures.
Space was tearing apart.
Behind the ruptured space, a pair of heart-stirring eyes emerged, followed by several gigantic white palms that reached through the fissure, tearing it open further.
"Are those... Gillians?!
"There are too many!"
Matsuki Yuta and the others, upon witnessing this scene, turned pale with shock.
If all these Gillians made their way through, the destruction they could cause would be unimaginable. If they had encountered this earlier, they might have been wiped out entirely.
However, faced with this sight, they felt more astonishment than fear because, aside from themselves, there was also the vice-captain of the Second Division standing among them!
"How intriguing."
Feng Ye gazed at the rift in the sky, his eyes ignoring the Hollows that were tearing apart space, and instead, looked beyond to Hueco Mundo, where several figures were commanding the Gillians.
These figures had forms distinct from the Gillians, no longer bearing the generic appearance of lower-level Hollows. They exhibited various different shapes and emitted spiritual pressures that surpassed those of the Gillians.
They, too, were Menos Grandes, but they were of a higher caliber, capable of commanding and controlling the Gillians.
They were—Adjuchas-class Menos Grandes!
"..."
Four to five Gillians tore through the rift in the sky, squeezing themselves into the World of the Living. They paused briefly before turning their gaze downward, focusing on Feng Ye below.
They all wore identical masks, devoid of expression. After a moment, they opened their mouths in unison, amassing an immense amount of spiritual pressure. Red light converged in their mouths, forming Cero blasts that rained down on Feng Ye.
BOOM!!!
The five Cero blasts converged on Feng Ye.
However, facing these attacks, Feng Ye casually lifted his left hand, effortlessly holding up the incoming red light. That hand, which didn't seem particularly robust, gave off a startling sensation as if it could support the entire sky!
Whoosh!
In the next instant, Lilith's figure silently appeared behind the five Gillians. Their bodies simultaneously split in half from the center, slain in an instant!
Far away, in another part of Hueco Mundo, several Adjuchas-class Menos Grandes gazed through the torn space, observing the events transpiring in the World of the Living.
"A Gillian was instantly killed."
"That Shinigami named Kaede is indeed powerful..."
"It would be unwise to engage them without knowing their numbers and strength. Let's leave, Grimmjow."
After speaking, one of the Adjuchas-class Menos Grandes raised its massive arms and pulled the torn sky back towards the center, causing the rift to close.
But...
Just as the rift was about to seal shut, leaving only a thin black slit, a hand suddenly pierced through the fissure! This hand forcefully penetrated space, grabbing the edge of the rift and violently tearing it open once more, creating a massive gash.
"It's rude to leave after just saying hello."
A calm voice echoed from beyond the torn fissure, and then, the owner of that hand stepped through the rift, emerging atop the sky of Hueco Mundo.
He wore the black Shinigami uniform, had silver-colored hair, and a Zanpakuto at his waist. His handsome features and serene demeanor captured the attention of all below as he slowly lowered his hand, looking down at the vast landscape.
"!!!"
Grimmjow and the other four Adjuchas-class Menos Grandes standing with him narrowed their eyes, their gazes fixed on Feng Ye, who had torn through the rift and entered Hueco Mundo.
In the World of the Living.
Upon seeing Feng Ye stride into the sky and forcibly rip open the closing fissure, Matsuki Yuta and the other members and seated officers of the Second Division were left stunned.
Before they could react, Lilith, who had just slain the five Gillians, leaped into the sky, following in Feng Ye's footsteps toward the black rift.
"Don't follow."
Lilith left behind a calm instruction before disappearing into the fissure.
Matsuki Yuta and the others exchanged glances, unsure of what to do as they watched the black rift in the sky close. They knew all too well what lay beyond that rift—it was the realm where Hollows dwelled, the counterpart to the World of the Living—Hueco Mundo!
Feng Ye and Lilith had pursued the Hollows right into their own realm!
"Captain Matsuki..."
A Shinigami officer looked at Matsuki Yuta, a bead of cold sweat forming on his forehead.
...
Hueco Mundo.
High above in the sky, Feng Ye floated calmly, gazing down at the world below.
This was the surface of Hueco Mundo, and as far as the eye could see, the entire world was desolate, even more barren than the areas beyond District 80 of Rukongai. All that met the eye were vast stretches of white deserts, with no other features in sight.
On top of these white sands, five Adjuchas-class Menos Grandes, led by Grimmjow, crouched atop a dune, each staring at Feng Ye in the sky.
It's worth mentioning that.
At this point, Grimmjow had not yet become one of the Espada or an Arrancar; he was merely an Adjuchas-class Menos Grande and had not yet attained a humanoid form.
There were only two ways for a Hollow to attain a form close to that of a human. One was to undergo Shinigamiization, gaining the powers of a Shinigami and becoming an Arrancar. The other was to evolve to the highest level and become a Vasto Lorde, the pinnacle of Hollow evolution.
Without a sound.
Lilith also crossed through the spatial rift and took a position behind Feng Ye. The two of them paid no heed as the rift slowly healed and disappeared behind them.
Feng Ye's gaze swept over the five Adjuchas-class Menos Grandes below, and he said indifferently, "What's the meaning of this? Are you challenging me but too afraid to make the first move?"
"Hmph!"
Hearing Feng Ye's words, Grimmjow, who was at the forefront, finally spoke. He let out a cold huff and looked up at Feng Ye. "You're brave to have chased us all the way to Hueco Mundo, but your journey ends here. From now on, you will become my food!"
Without a sound.
Just as Grimmjow finished speaking, Lilith, who had been floating at Feng Ye's side, silently moved in front of him and raised her Zanpakuto. With a calm demeanor, she said, "My father is willing to give you a chance to challenge him, but that does not mean you can be so rude... Dye the blades, Blood Language."
Being in tune with Feng Ye's thoughts, Lilith knew that from the moment they entered Hueco Mundo, he had no intention of hiding his identity. This was because Feng Ye had come here not just due to Grimmjow's provocation but also to see the world he had created with his own hands.
After all.
Ever since he created this world, millions of years had passed without a visit. Perhaps none of the Hollows in all of Hueco Mundo knew that their world had an owner, and that owner was named Feng Ye.
Most likely, none of them knew that above the center of this world was a separate space created by Feng Ye, one that could only be entered by breaking through layer after layer of dimensions.
If the independent space created by the Soul King at the top of the Soul Society was called the Royal Palace, then this space created by Feng Ye in Hueco Mundo should be called—the Palace of Hollows!
Feng Ye stood in the sky, looking down at Lilith as she unsheathed her Zanpakuto in front of him, a faint smile on his face. He made no move to stop her and simply watched her actions.
"Your spiritual pressure is quite strong."
Grimmjow's gaze shifted from Feng Ye to Lilith, a fierce light flashing in his eyes. "But it's not enough to stop me!"
Whoosh!!!
Almost as soon as the words left his mouth, Grimmjow leaped into the sky, lunging at Lilith. He bared his fangs, intending to bite through her body.
Lilith's eyes were cold and calm, and she swept her Zanpakuto horizontally, causing it to clash with Grimmjow's fangs and sending sparks flying.
The other four Adjuchas-class Menos Grandes did not make a move.
They understood Grimmjow's personality; he disliked interference or help from others during battles. Besides, aside from Lilith, there was also Feng Ye hovering above.
Compared to Lilith, Feng Ye might be even more powerful, so the four of them kept their eyes fixed on him, ready to join forces and attack Feng Ye at any moment!
