Chapter 590: The Phoenix Order
Chapter 590: The Phoenix Order
Kyle was unsure of the purpose behind the Ministry's letter. Was it a warning to keep him quiet? Or was there another reason?
That evening, Kyle asked Chris about it, but like Mr. Weasley, he had no idea why.
"Madam Malkin from the Misuse of Magic Office is just following orders," Chris explained. "I went to the Minister's office afterward, but apparently, Fudge has been away for two days and hasn't returned."
He patted Kyle on the shoulder. "Don't worry, Madam Malkin said it was just a simple inquiry. After all, no one can prove that you cast a spell in the Cauldron Pub, right?"
"And this inquiry won't affect your normal school enrollment... But that Harry Potter might be in trouble."
"Does the Ministry really want to expel Harry?" Kyle asked.
"No, it's for another reason," Chris shook his head. "Alastor and Sirius believe that the Dementor attack on Harry was likely the work of the Dark Lord."
"A Dementor?"
"Yeah, otherwise he wouldn't have used the Patronus Charm in front of those three Muggles."
Chris poured himself a cup of strong tea, "A Dementor appeared in a Muggle community and tried to eat the souls of three Muggles... Honestly, this has never happened before."
"Yeah, it's quite rare," Kyle nodded in agreement.
As far as he knew, every Dementor was strictly confined to the island where Azkaban was located.
The Strike Force stationed there was primarily tasked with keeping an eye on the Dementors, preventing them from sneaking out.
So, unless the Ministry allowed it, it would be impossible for a Dementor to appear in Little Hangleton.
Of course, Voldemort wasn't entirely out of the question, but if he had truly taken over Azkaban, it was unlikely he would send just one or two Dementors to deal with Harry.
Therefore, it was more likely to be the Ministry's doing... To be fair, this method of framing was a bit too crude.
After chatting with Chris for a while longer, Kyle went upstairs to his room.
...
In the following days, the neighboring Weasley family seemed to suddenly become busy. Kyle didn't see Mrs. Weasley for two or three days in a row.
When he passed by once, he found them packing as if they were moving.
"What are you doing?" he asked curiously.
"To a place you'd never imagine," Fred and George put down their boxes and ran over to say, "Mom has been there."
He looked a bit excited, and his ears were slightly red.
"Fred, George!"
At that moment, Mrs. Weasley, whom they hadn't seen in a long time, hurried over, "Hurry up and pack your things, we need to leave soon."
As she spoke, she also noticed Kyle standing nearby.
"Dear, are you okay?" She hugged Kyle. "I heard that the Ministry has been giving you a hard time as well."
"It's fine, Mrs. Weasley, it was just a routine inquiry," Kyle said. "Are you going out?"
"Yes, to a safer place," Mrs. Weasley hesitated for a moment, then said, "Okay, Dumbledore said we don't need to hide it from you."
She pulled Kyle to a secluded spot.
"What I'm about to tell you may sound unbelievable, but it's all true."
"To better counter the returning Dark Lord, Dumbledore has reactivated the Phoenix Order... This is a team established over a decade ago, and they've clashed with Death Eaters hundreds of times."
"We're going to the Phoenix Order's temporary headquarters, Sirius's home."
"Number 12, Grimmauld Place?" Kyle asked.
"How did you know...?" Mrs. Weasley looked surprised, and then she seemed to remember something, "No wonder Dumbledore said there's no need to hide it from you, I guess you've been there before, right?"
"Yes, but it wasn't the headquarters of the Phoenix Order at that time."
"Of course, because this matter was only recently confirmed."
Mrs. Weasley checked the time and said, "How about you come with us? That way, it'll be safer, and as for Chris, I'll let him know."
"To Number 12, Grimmauld Place?" Kyle thought for a moment and declined Mrs. Weasley's offer.
It wasn't that he didn't want to go; it was mainly because Diana had specifically returned during the break and asked him to stay at home, preferably not going anywhere else.
The last time he went to Diagon Alley, it was almost as if Kyle was leaving Ottery St. Catchpole for the first time.
"Since that's the case... alright then." Mrs. Weasley didn't say anything further after hearing that this was Diana's request.
However, just as she was about to go back to continue packing, Kyle called out to her.
"Mrs. Weasley, will all members of the Phoenix Order go to Grimmauld Place?"
"Most of them will be there," Mrs. Weasley replied.
"What about my dad? Will he be going too?"
"No." Mrs. Weasley shook her head, "Chris, he's not a member of the Phoenix Order yet."
"What?"
Kyle was a bit surprised, as he had always thought Chris was a member of the Phoenix Order.
"Strictly speaking, he's a member of the Phoenix Order, just not on the list."
Mrs. Weasley explained, "At that time, Chris was constantly following Mr. Scamander, dealing with werewolves, giants, and various dangerous magical creatures. They were on two different battlefields.
Meanwhile, the members of the Phoenix Order were mainly focused on combating Death Eaters and providing support on the battlefield, but Chris felt that what he was doing didn't meet this requirement.
"Even though Dumbledore and we didn't mind, after all, what he was doing was also to counter the Dark Lord's power, and there was no difference between us, but he refused.
"And just before Dumbledore invited him for the third time, the Dark Lord was killed by Harry, so this matter was put on hold."
"I see," Kyle said, enlightened.
"Of course, this is just temporary," Mrs. Weasley said with a smile, "I believe that soon enough, Chris's name will appear on the Phoenix Order's list; there's no doubt about it."
"Perhaps mine too," Kyle laughed.
"No, I don't think so," Mrs. Weasley said, her face gradually becoming serious, "Even though Alastor suggested taking you into the Phoenix Order, I insist that he's rushing things.
"You're still just a child who hasn't graduated yet; you shouldn't get involved in something so dangerous. We're enough."
"Mrs. Weasley..."
Just as Kyle was about to speak, he was interrupted by a sudden whistle coming from not too far away.
A brand new car drove into Ottery St. Catchpole; it was the same one that had picked them up from King's Cross Station... the one Sirius had bought.
Mr. Weasley leaned out from the driver's seat, "Are you kids ready? We must leave immediately."
"Sorry, dear, I have to go."
Mrs. Weasley hugged Kyle again, "Once you spot any suspicious wizards nearby, remember to write to us right away."
"I understand, Mrs. Weasley," Kyle nodded, "Be careful."
"You too."
