Chapter 590: The Order of the Phoenix
Chapter 590: The Order of the Phoenix
Kyle had no idea what the purpose of this letter from the Ministry of Magic was. Was it a warning to keep him quiet? Or was there another reason?
That evening, Kyle asked Chris, but like Mr. Weasley, he was also unaware of the reason.
"Mafalda Hopkirk from the Misuse of Magic Office is just following orders," Chris said. "I went to the Minister's office later, but someone said Fudge had left two days ago and hadn't returned."
He then patted Kyle on the shoulder.
"Don't worry, Mafalda said it's just a simple inquiry, after all, no one can prove that you cast a spell in the Leaky Cauldron, right?
"And this kind of inquiry won't affect your normal school start... But that Harry Potter guy might be in trouble."
"Does the Ministry really want to expel Harry?" Kyle asked.
"No, it's for another reason." Chris shook his head. "Alastor and Sirius think that this Dementor attack on Harry was most likely done by You-Know-Who."
"Dementors?"
"Yeah, that's why he used the Patronus Charm in front of those Muggles."
Chris poured himself a cup of strong tea. "Dementors appearing in a Muggle community and trying to feed on the souls of three Muggles... To be honest, this has never happened before."
"Yes, this is indeed rare," Kyle nodded.
As far as he knew, every Dementor was strictly confined to the island where Azkaban was located.
And the Hit Wizards stationed there were mainly to guard the Dementors and prevent them from sneaking out, rather than to prevent prisoner escapes.
So, unless allowed by the Ministry of Magic, it was impossible for Dementors to appear in Little Whinging.
Of course, it wasn't impossible that it was Voldemort's doing, but if he had truly occupied Azkaban, he probably wouldn't send just one or two Dementors to deal with Harry.
So it was more likely to be the Ministry's doing... To be honest, this framing job was a bit too crude.
After chatting with Chris for a while longer, Kyle went upstairs to his room.
...
In the following days, the Weasley family next door seemed to suddenly become busy, and Kyle didn't see Mrs. Weasley for two or three days in a row.
Once, when he went over, he found them packing as if they were moving.
"What are you guys doing?" he asked curiously.
"To a place you would never imagine." Fred and George put down the boxes in their hands and ran over to say, "Mom has been there before."
He looked a little excited, his ears slightly red.
"Fred, George!"
At that moment, Mrs. Weasley, whom they hadn't seen for a long time, also walked over quickly. "Hurry up and pack your things, we need to leave soon."
As she spoke, she also noticed Kyle next to them.
"Dear, are you okay?"
She hugged Kyle, "I heard you were also in trouble with the Ministry."
"I'm fine, Mrs. Weasley, it was just a normal inquiry." Kyle said, "Are you going out?"
"Yes, to a... well, a safer place." Mrs. Weasley hesitated for a moment and said, "Well, Dumbledore said we don't need to hide it from you."
Then she pulled Kyle to a place where no one was around.
"What I'm about to tell you may sound incredible, but it's all true."
"To better counter the resurgence of You-Know-Who, Dumbledore has reactivated the Order of the Phoenix... This is a team founded over a decade ago, and they've clashed with Death Eaters hundreds of times.
"We're going to the Order's temporary headquarters, Sirius' home.
"Yes, but it wasn't the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix back then."
"Of course, because this matter was only decided recently." Mrs. Weasley checked the time and said, "How about you come with us to Grimmauld Place? It would be safer, and I'll let Chris know."
"Go to Number twelve, Grimmauld Place?" Kyle hesitated but ultimately declined Mrs. Weasley's kind offer.
It wasn't that he didn't want to go; mainly, Diana had specifically returned home once school ended and instructed him to stay at home and avoid going elsewhere.
The previous trip to Diagon Alley had been Kyle's first time leaving St. Kachibor Village.
"If that's the case... then alright." Mrs. Weasley didn't press further after learning that this was Diana's request.
However, just as she was about to return to packing, Kyle called out to her.
"Mrs. Weasley, are all members of the Order of the Phoenix going to Grimmauld Place?"
"Most of them," Mrs. Weasley replied.
"What about my dad? Is he going too?"
"No." Mrs. Weasley shook her head. "Chris isn't officially a member of the Order yet."
"What?"
Kyle was taken aback. He had always assumed Chris was part of the Order.
"Technically, he is a member, but he's not on the official roster," Mrs. Weasley explained. "Chris has been working with Mr. Scamander, dealing with werewolves, giants, and all sorts of dangerous magical creatures. They're fighting a different battle than ours.
The Order of the Phoenix primarily focuses on combating Death Eaters and providing support on the battlefield. Chris felt that what he was doing didn't align with the Order's mission.
"Although Dumbledore and we didn't mind, as what he's doing is equally important in countering the Dark Lord's forces, he refused nonetheless.
"And just before Dumbledore could invite him a third time, the Dark Lord was killed by Harry, so the matter was put on hold."
"I see," Kyle said, understanding.
"Of course, this is only temporary." Mrs. Weasley smiled. "I'm sure Chris's name will be on the Order of the Phoenix's roster soon enough. There's no doubt about that."
"Maybe mine, too," Kyle added with a smile.
"No, I don't think so." Mrs. Weasley's expression turned serious. "While Alastor suggested including you in the Order, I believe he's being too hasty.
"You're still a student who hasn't graduated. You shouldn't be involved in such dangerous matters. We're enough."
"Mrs. Weasley..."
Just as Kyle was about to speak, a sudden honking sound interrupted him.
A sleek new car drove into St. Kachibor Village—the same one that had picked them up from King's Cross Station... purchased by Sirius.
Mr. Weasley poked his head out of the driver's seat. "Are you kids ready? We must leave immediately."
"Sorry, dear, I have to go," Mrs. Weasley said, hugging Kyle once more. "If you notice any suspicious wizards in the area, be sure to write to us right away."
"I will, Mrs. Weasley," Kyle nodded. "Take care."
"You too."
