Chapter 59: The Headmaster's Office
Chapter 59: The Headmaster's Office
Kyle and Conna soon returned to the castle, not long after their departure.
After they left, Hagrid sat in his wooden hut, deep in thought until evening. Finally, he decided to follow Kyle's suggestion and send Luewei to the Forbidden Forest, and that very night.
Although it was hard to let go, he had no other choice. Firstly, this would help improve Luewei's mood.
If Luewei was happy, then he would be happy too.
Moreover, he had to admit that Kyle was right; the situation outside was indeed tense.
Earlier, Professor Orion from Defense Against the Dark Arts had complained to him while searching for teaching materials in the Forbidden Forest. After today's Daily Prophet was published, the Ministry of Magic had deployed almost all their Aurors to search for those magical creatures with unknown origins, just to show their seriousness about the matter.
As a result, Professor Orion couldn't even buy teaching materials and had to come to the Forbidden Forest to catch them himself.
Hagrid remembered how Professor Orion had almost exploded with anger when he mentioned this, cursing Fudge as an idiot in the Forbidden Forest.
At that time, Hagrid had found it amusing, but now, he regretted not joining in on the cursing.
After all, he had bought Luewei from the bar, and there were quite a few people around at the time.
Although they didn't know what he had purchased, if any of them were caught by the Aurors, they would surely blame it on him, claiming he had bought magical creatures, just to shift the blame and gain merit.
For them, it was a win-win situation—either they guessed right and got rewarded or guessed wrong with no consequences.
So, for Luewei's safety and to avoid causing trouble for Dumbledore, Hagrid had no choice but to send Luewei away.
Those Aurors wouldn't search the Forbidden Forest, would they?
Of course, if they wanted to, Hagrid wouldn't stop them.
There was no need for that.
Deep within the Forbidden Forest, there were werewolves and even a Sphinx; having a three-headed dog wasn't unusual at all.
Meanwhile, back at the castle, Kyle was sitting in the corner of the common room, sorting through a pile of Guardian Tree branches.
"I was just about to ask," Conna said, watching Kyle's actions with curiosity. "Why are you picking up these dead branches? There are plenty in the kitchen, and you can get them whenever you need them."
"It's not the same," Kyle explained. "These are Guardian Tree branches. The Guardian Tree is a magical wild cherry tree that can protect those who touch its trunk from dark creatures."
Conna blinked, as she was well aware of this fact, but what did it have to do with Kyle collecting branches?
Branches and trunks... weren't they completely different things?
"Never mind, you'll understand later."
Kyle picked out a straight stick and placed it aside, then casually asked, "By the way, how do you know there are branches in the kitchen? Have you eaten there before?"
The kitchen was nearby, and Kyle had definitely been there. However, every time he got close to the entrance, he would be surrounded by a group of house-elves.
The stove was located a bit further inside, and to see it clearly, one would have to sit on those long tables.
With the enthusiasm of those house-elves, it was almost impossible to reach the stove without eating there.
Because halfway there, they could hang an entire cow on you.
"No, I haven't. Don't make things up..."
For some reason, Conna's face suddenly turned red, and she stammered, "I, I was just curious and wanted to take a look at the kitchen!"
"I see.
Kyle didn't seem to mind and continued selecting the Guardian Tree branches. When he finally finished organizing them, he realized that Conna had already returned to the dormitory at some point.
Moreover, he was the only one left in the Common Room. It was then that Kyle remembered it was the weekend, so he quickly tidied up and headed back to the dormitory as well.
He had no intention of staying up late.
For Hufflepuff, the next day's weekend was a significant occasion, as the Quidditch match was about to begin, and the first game was their match against Slytherin.
The following day.
To cheer for their house team, the badgers woke up before eight o'clock, ate breakfast, put on their uniforms, and, with the banners they had prepared earlier, headed to the Quidditch pitch right on time.
Kyle was supposed to be among them, but after finishing his breakfast, a plump ghost suddenly appeared before him.
"Hello, Kyle. I hope I didn't interrupt your breakfast."
"Hello, Master," Kyle responded politely. "Are you going to watch the Quidditch match? Hufflepuff has a great chance of winning this year."
"No, actually, I prefer Gobstones." The plump Master sounded a bit regretful. "Unfortunately, Hogwarts discontinued this game decades ago."
"I'm sorry, Master," Kyle quickly said. "I hope I didn't ruin your day."

"Not at all, child," the plump Master said with a hearty laugh. "The best thing about being a ghost is that nothing can get worse than this, so you don't have to worry about anything.
However, you might have to wait a little longer before going to the match. Dumbledore has something to discuss with you on the eighth floor in the Headmaster's Office, and the password is 'Butterbeer.'"
Dumbledore wanted to see him?
This surprised Kyle, and he curiously asked, "Master, do you know what the Headmaster wants to see me for?"
"I'm not sure," the plump Master shook his head. "I'm just delivering a message."
"Alright, I'll be on my way then. Goodbye, Master."
After bidding farewell to the plump Master, Kyle headed straight to the eighth floor.
He knew he had to go see the Headmaster, hoping that it wouldn't delay his Quidditch match.
Although he had never been to the Headmaster's Office before, Kyle quickly located the hideous stone beast due to his familiarity with the map.
"Butterbeer," Kyle recited the password.
The stone beast jumped to the side, and the wall behind it split open, revealing a spiral staircase.
The staircase slowly moved upward, almost like an escalator.
Kyle stepped onto it and followed the staircase to an oak door with a door knocker shaped like a lion-headed eagle.
Kyle knocked on the door with some trepidation, and the door knocker came to life, flapping its wings and slowly opening the massive door.
It was truly befitting of the Headmaster's Office, as this way of opening the door was far more impressive than knocking on a wooden barrel.
Kyle entered the Headmaster's Office, his curiosity piqued as he looked around.
The spacious round room was filled with various amusing little sounds, and the table was adorned with many peculiar silver objects that spun and emitted small puffs of smoke.
Kyle wasn't sure what these items were for, but they were definitely not humidifiers.
Near the wall, there was a stone basin with strange symbols, and next to it, a large mirror.
The mirror was grand, reaching the ceiling with a golden frame that shone brightly, supported by two claw-shaped feet at the bottom.
