Chapter 59: The Clan Leader's Leisure Time
Chapter 59: The Clan Leader's Leisure Time
"Mito."
The image of a young boy, often donning an ill-fitting adult ninja vest with snot dripping from his nose, flashed through Huyi Xuan Yue's mind.
"He's already an elder of the clan now," Huyi Xuan Yue remarked sentimentally.
Only at times like these did he truly comprehend how much time had passed and how old he had become.
No, he corrected himself. It was only in the eyes of others that he was old. He himself was still in his physical prime, forever in his twenties.
And so, Huyi Xuan Yue continued to reject any form of age recording that didn't align with his physical state.
"Tell Mito that his old bones should get some rest. In a while, I'll pay him a visit," Huyi Xuan Yue instructed before picking up another book.
"Yes," Samui acknowledged, not wanting to disturb Huyi Xuan Yue further. Instead, he lit an aromatic incense that filled the room with a soothing fragrance and prepared a pot of steaming tea, attending to his leader with the ceremonious air befitting a member of a millennia-old clan.
The Huyi clan, with a history just as ancient as the Hyuga clan, was less rigid and complex in their traditions. They far surpassed the Uchiha clan, who valued strength above all else and were quick to turn on each other.
While Huyi Xuan Yue didn't particularly concern himself with such formalities, he appreciated the efforts of his subordinates and gracefully accepted their service.
Some time later, having read through dozens of medical ninjutsu books at a pace much faster than the average person, Huyi Xuan Yue closed the last book. With a flick of his right hand, a vibrant green chakra, brimming with life, enveloped his palm.
Witnessing this, Samui was astonished. He was well aware of his leader's exceptional talent in ninjutsu, but to see him master the notoriously difficult medical ninjutsu from scratch in such a short time was awe-inspiring.
Huyi Xuan Yue casually placed his right hand over one of his wounds. After a moment of observation, he concluded that his healing rate had more than doubled compared to his previous methods.
"This is a very impressive medical system, far superior to what was available during the Warring States period," Huyi Xuan Yue commented.
Medical ninjutsu had barely begun to emerge during the Warring States era, and the art was not yet fully developed. Severely wounded individuals rarely received effective treatment, while slaughter and violence escalated.
This led to the reality of ninjas having an average lifespan of less than thirty years, with five-year-old children being sent into battle.
The contributions of medical ninjas, led by Tsunade, could not be overstated. Without them, it wouldn't have been just the recent ninja school graduates fighting in the Ninja World War; even the newest students would have been forced to join the fray.
However, these medical ninjutsu techniques were still insufficient for Huyi Xuan Yue's needs. After all, the wounds he bore were inflicted by a peak-condition Senju Hashirama.
Aside from purging the residual magical energy from his body, the injuries that penetrated his vital organs and critical areas went far beyond what these relatively basic medical ninjutsu techniques, gathered by Samui, could heal.
"I apologize, Clan Leader. We are incompetent and could only obtain medical ninjutsu information up to this level," Samui admitted his shortcomings.
"You've done well to get this far," Huyi Xuan Yue said, not bearing any ill will towards Samui or the clan members.
Currently, the Huyi clan was spread across the five great ninja villages, with members in each one. While this strategy mitigated risks, it made it challenging to gain direct access to the true upper echelons of the villages.
Medical ninjutsu was a closely guarded strategic asset, and Samui's ability to gather these techniques was already commendable, even if it came with a certain degree of risk.
It was Konoha's ability to quickly heal severely injured ninjas that gave them the confidence to face multiple enemies during the Third Great Ninja War.
No wonder Tsunade, after wandering abroad for so many years, returned to become the Hokage without any opposition from the village.
"Also, according to the intelligence gathered by the Huyi Clan, there is a doctor named Shennong in the ninja world. His medical skills are distinct from the orthodox medical system, but they are exceptionally effective. Many civilians, nobles, and even ninjas have sought his treatment and hold him in high regard." Samui added.
"Konoha's Shennong."
After hearing this, Huyi Xuan Yue fell into contemplation.
Since it concerned his full recovery, he had to consider all possibilities.
Thus, he needed to pursue both options.
Huyi Xuan Yue already had a plan regarding Konoha.
As for Shennong, Huyi Xuan Yue, aware that one of the current aliases of the Huyi Clan was an intelligence organization, instructed, "Inform me of Shennong's whereabouts as soon as possible."
"Yes!" Samui nodded.
This was the advantage of having a powerful organization backing you.
If Huyi Xuan Yue were alone, even with his formidable strength, it would be extremely challenging to find someone in the vast ninja world with no leads, and the amount of time required would be unimaginable.
However, with the support of an organization, things were entirely different.
Take the members of the Akatsuki organization, for example.
Why did other rogue ninjas live in constant fear, always worried about the day the village's elimination squads would come knocking?
Meanwhile, the members of the Akatsuki organization went about their days leisurely, always dressed in their distinctive uniforms and wearing their straw hats.
It was all because they had the protection of the endless network of White Zetsu providing them with intelligence.
Without this advantage, despite their strength, they would eventually meet their end, just like the Immortal Duo, once their abilities and weaknesses were thoroughly understood by their enemies.
Huyi Xuan Yue was grateful that the Huyi Clan was still around, as it made his second life much more convenient.
After watching Samui summon a messenger hawk from the Huyi Clan and send out his request in the form of a coded message, Huyi Xuan Yue asked, "How much longer can you stay here, Han?"
Samui had specifically taken on a mission nearby, which had provided the opportunity for this meeting with Huyi Xuan Yue.
Upon hearing this, Samui paused, her eyes darting left and right.
"Is Clan Leader asking about my free time because..."
They were in a remote area, with no one else around—just the two of them.
Her imagination ran wild, and Samui's usually cold and elegant face flushed with a rare hint of embarrassment.
Although such a wide-open space might not be the most conducive to relaxation, refusing was out of the question.
Just as Samui was seriously contemplating whether to take the initiative or adopt a more passive role, and if she should be the one to untie the knots of her outfit, Huyi Xuan Yue continued, "If you have enough time, demonstrate your abilities here, and I will give you some guidance."
Even the most devoted of his clan members deserved some form of reward for their dedication, and Huyi Xuan Yue believed that the best way to reciprocate was to guide them in their cultivation.
With his profound understanding of ninjutsu, his teaching abilities were second to none.
As expected, Samui was "thrilled" to the point of blushing.
Of course, she quickly regained her composure, her expression turning cold and indifferent once more as she said, "I have two more hours."
