Chapter 59: Reactions Across the Board
Chapter 59: Reactions Across the Board (Please Support)
Tianhai City, Linhai No.1 Base Interior
Boom!
Several massive Hercules transport vehicles rumbled forward like stubborn steel beasts. Over 50 meters long and 42 meters wide, their black armored bodies were splattered with blood and claw marks as they slowly rolled into the base’s colossal factory complex.
Over a dozen giant entryways lined the facility, each wide enough to accommodate these mechanical leviathans. Inside, the factory spanned thousands of square meters divided into dozens of zones. Massive machinery and transport systems hummed with activity as workers in various uniforms bustled about.
Clang!
An eight-meter partition slid open, revealing thick black-and-red mechanical arms. With surgical precision, they extracted enormous corpses from the transports, dropping them to the ground with heavy thuds and splashes of blood.
"Team Eight, follow me! Start dissecting the secondary Disaster Beasts!"
A group clad entirely in white surged forward, wielding gleaming blades of various sizes. Facing creatures over four meters tall, they worked with practiced efficiency, slicing open hides with ease.
Squelch! Slash!
Within minutes, organs and limbs were severed, categorized, and loaded onto white robotic carts. Fresh corpses kept arriving, and the team resumed their work. They were the base’s flesh dissectors.
Half an hour later.
"Team Eight, one-hour break!"
The leader announced. A collective sigh of relief swept through the group as they exited the factory area into a cavernous decontamination chamber. Powerful water jets rinsed blood from their protective suits.
In the clean room, Lin Zhen peeled off his sweaty gear, sweat dripping from his body. He collapsed onto a chair, chugging an Energy Brew while clutching his aching left arm.
"You should rest a few days", Fang Zhe advised, wiping sweat with a towel. "Keep pushing like this and you’ll collapse."
Lin Zhen shook his head. "Can’t afford it. Need the money."
He rubbed Healing Ointment onto his prosthetic limb.
Fang Zhe sighed. "My fault. Shouldn’t have brought you here."
Beep!
"Little Qi signed a B-Rank Contract with Crimson Vault Martial Arts Pavilion!"
Lin Zhen nearly dropped his phone. A surge of adrenaline erased his fatigue as he stood up, eyes wide.
Fang Zhe leaned in. "From Xiao Yi. Must be true."
"Little Qi? Our Little Qi got a B-Rank?!" Another worker exclaimed. "Brother Lin, your son’s a genius! This is huge!"
Their burly manager barged in. "Lin Zhen, take today and tomorrow off. We’ll bump your pay 10%."
"Thank you, sir!" Lin Zhen beamed.
Envious whispers spread. A B-Rank son meant a bright future.
Fang Zhe smiled warmly. He decided: after earning enough by Spring Festival, they’d return home.
...
Crimson Vault Martial Arts Pavilion
Sun Manager entered an empty elevator. A second later, a hulking figure joined him—a bald, muscle-bound giant over two meters tall with a face like a wrathful general.
"Director Lu!" Sun greeted.
Lu cracked an unpleasant smile. "Sun, I heard Old Yue personally signed a genius named Lin Qi? Checked his stats—288th in Tianhai’s monthly assessment. Decent Star Rank martial artist."
"But a B-Rank contract? Seems excessive. Old Yue’s judgment must’ve dropped since his trip to Linhai."
Sun frowned but stayed silent. Moments later, he relayed this to Yue Feng at the top floor.
Yue Feng gazed out the window. "Let him scoff. With Chaos Unresolved, nothing’s certain. The future remains unwritten."
...
Martial Arts Training Hall
Lin Qi set aside his long spear, body buzzing. The Nutritional Meal he’d eaten warmed his stomach like a furnace, overcharging his body. Changing into his new Martial Arts Uniform, he began practicing fist techniques to vent the energy.
His breath quickened, skin flushed red as white vapor rose from his pores. Vital Energy surged through his body—wasting it felt like spilling precious water.
Pow! Crash!
Tiger Claw strikes sent Vital Energy coursing through his muscles. Fist after fist, he cycled through Tiger Form and Crane Form, movements fueled by his supercharged digestion.
The meal’s power burned within him like a forge, each strike refining his muscles like smelting steel.
【Vital Energy Stat increased through relentless training. +0.15】
【Fist Techniques proficiency improved through Five Elements Boxing. +1%】
【Vital Energy: 8.85 → 9.0】
【Fist Techniques: Second Stage 16% → 17%】
...
Lin Qi exhaled sharply, sending a gust of stale air swirling. He grinned through sweat—today was glorious. B-Rank Contract signed, stats rising.
"Old Yue’s 20,000-credit Nutritional Meal works miracles", he mused. "School meals feel like water compared."
Checking his phone, he messaged Abyssal Maw and Black Radiance gyms on Weixun: "Signed with Crimson Vault. B-Rank."
At Abyssal Maw, Dongfang Qi gaped. "He actually got a B-Rank? Did Crimson Vault staff take bad pills?"
She forwarded the message to her vice-director, who sighed, eyes mournful. The one who got away...
Black Radiance’s fat director chuckled. "Spent years hunting geese, now I get pecked by one! Crimson Vault’s doomed. Glad I dodged that bullet!"
...
That night, Lin Qi and mother Fang Huiyi dined with Sun Manager at the Pavilion’s cafeteria before seeing her home.
Waving goodbye as her car departed, Lin Qi thanked Sun. "Appreciate your help."
"Anytime."
As Sun disappeared inside, Guo Heng stepped from his luxury car nearby, stunned. Just like Lü Xiang described.
"Lin Qi", he called. "Why’s Sun Manager chauffeuring you?"
Jiang Tao emerged from the gate. "Hey, Ah Heng!"
"Let’s talk elsewhere", Lin Qi smiled.
