Chapter 59: Plan A: Carnage!
Chapter 59: Plan A: Carnage!
A full moon hung high in the sky, illuminating the Spirit Realm with its bright light, making the night less dark than even the previous dusk.
As Old Chu had said, the environment didn't significantly hinder their vision, especially for extraordinary beings like Zhao Zheng and Song Haitang, whose high mental attributes made them almost immune to its effects.
"Zhao Zheng, there's something odd about this moon," Song Haitang suddenly spoke up.
Zhao Zheng paused, looking up at the sky and carefully examining the bright moon.
After a while, he noticed a faint red hue around the moon's edge, barely visible unless you were looking for it.
"Is it the color that's off?" Zhao Zheng asked, "I think I see an abnormal redness."
"Besides the color, the moonlight seems to be affecting our minds, making us feel... carnal?" Song Haitang added.
At these words, Zhao Zheng's expression turned serious.
He carefully sensed his body and noticed that his blood was indeed flowing faster.
Moreover, even his emotions were shifting, becoming more prone to anger and carnage...
With his incredibly high attributes, he could perceive even the subtlest changes in his body.
"Interesting!"
Zhao Zheng looked up at the moon once more, a smile on his face, but his eyes held a hint of distrust.
The moon itself seemed fine; the red light was the problem.
What was this red light, and was it devouring the moon?
Could it be related to the entity consuming stars in the Blue Star?
These questions flashed through Zhao Zheng's mind, but no one could answer them; he would have to figure it out on his own.
He believed that when his strength reached an invincible level, all the truths would be revealed to him!
"Let's not worry about it for now. Let's focus on killing these monsters and finishing our task!" Zhao Zheng said casually.
Song Haitang glanced at him and nodded without speaking.
Just then, a noise came from outside the courtyard.
Moments later, a hideous monster appeared at the entrance.
This creature resembled a praying mantis, with spider-like features, four legs for walking, and a pair of scythe-like forelimbs for capturing prey.
Its massive abdomen dragged along the ground.
Strangely, the upper half of the monster resembled a human torso.
Its face, in particular, was almost identical to a human's, with the same facial features.
Of course, there were differences; the monster's eyes were pitch-black, and its mouth was filled with sharp teeth, giving it a sinister and terrifying appearance.
The most striking feature was its ears, which were like flaring ears, exceptionally large.
It was clear at a glance that this monster had highly developed hearing.
The creature was covered in thick chitin, and just as Old Chu had shown in the classroom, it had no apparent weaknesses.
However, the real monster was far more terrifying than the photos, and the visual impact was much stronger.
"Huff!"
Flames rose.
Seeing the monster, Song Haitang immediately prepared to attack.
"Wait, Haitang," Zhao Zheng suddenly said, "Let me test this monster's strength first."
Hearing this, Song Haitang retracted her flames.
Their actions had already caught the monster's attention.
Upon seeing two live humans, it howled and charged towards them.
Song Haitang's eyes widened in surprise.
Zhao Zheng had thrown away his hammers and was now approaching the monster empty-handed.
What was he doing?
As Song Haitang wondered, Zhao Zheng suddenly stood still, allowing the monster to pounce on him.
The monster showed no mercy. In its eyes, humans were nothing more than prey. Starved and desperate, it had not seen prey in a long while. Now, with its prey in sight, it only wanted to dismember and devour it.
"Huff!" A sound tore through the air. The monster raised its scythe-like right arm and slashed horizontally towards Zhao Zheng's waist and abdomen. The sharp blade glinted menacingly in the moonlight. It was so powerful that it could cut through not just a human body but even the courtyard walls.
"Zhao Zheng!!" Song Haitang cried out in shock as Zhao Zheng showed no intention of dodging the attack. She wanted to help, but it was already too late. All she could do was watch as the monster's scythe arm slashed towards Zhao Zheng.
"Clang!" A crisp sound of impact echoed. Zhao Zheng stood firm, not moving an inch. It was the monster's scythe arm that was pushed back by the force of the counter-impact, causing its entire body to retreat a few steps.
Song Haitang was stunned by this turn of events. Zhao Zheng, on the other hand, wore a pleased smile.
Steel Body! It was indeed powerful! He didn't even feel a thing...
"Wooo!" The monster howled and lunged at Zhao Zheng again, seemingly not believing what had just happened. This time, it attacked with both arms, aiming at Zhao Zheng in a relentless assault.
"Clang, clang, clang!" The crisp sounds of impact reverberated throughout the mansion. To an outsider, it might have sounded like a blacksmith's workshop. Unfortunately for the monster, despite its best efforts, it only managed to tear through Zhao Zheng's clothing. It couldn't even leave a scratch on his skin!
"Pffft!" Suddenly, a bursting sound rang out. The attacking monster froze momentarily before slowly collapsing to the ground. Upon closer inspection, its head had disappeared without a trace... Zhao Zheng had casually punched and exploded the monster's head.
What about its impenetrable chitinous shell? In the face of absolute power, it was nothing but scraps!
"Haitang, did I hear you calling me earlier?" Zhao Zheng returned to Song Haitang's side, picked up the pair of Drumming Vase Golden Hammers from the ground, and asked, "Is there something wrong?"
Song Haitang pursed her thin lips and replied, "It's nothing."
After a brief pause, she couldn't help but ask, "Are you okay? You were attacked by the monster so many times..."
"I'm fine!" Zhao Zheng spread his hands, revealing his chest and abdomen. His clothes were torn in many places, especially on the front. "Look, there's not a scratch on me."
Song Haitang's face flushed as she caught a glimpse of his muscular physique. She quickly turned away.
"As long as you're okay..." Zhao Zheng, realizing his exposure, laughed and adjusted his clothes. "I'm fine, but the monsters are in trouble! Haitang, let's execute Plan A!"
Having tested the monster's attacks and finding them harmless, he saw no need to hold back. It was time to be bold.
"Plan A?" Song Haitang was puzzled.
"Plan A is to unleash hell!" Zhao Zheng declared.
