Chapter 59: Ascension of the Azure Sky to Tier 1
Chapter 59: Ascension of the Azure Sky to Tier 1
As the mysterious glow on the hull of the Azure Sky gradually faded, Song Chi knew that the ship had successfully ascended from a dark energy shuttle to a dark energy airship. He quickly glanced over the airship's attributes.
As expected, the Azure Sky's attributes had undergone significant changes.
Firstly, the eight basic slots on all Emberlight ships had received a special enhancement. Regardless of the quality of the components installed in these slots, their effects would be boosted by 20%.
This was a standard enhancement that all Emberlight ships received upon ascending to dark energy airships. Not only that, but with each subsequent ascension, this enhancement would further increase. This was the fundamental reason for the vast differences in combat power among the various tiers of Emberlight ships in the Emberlight human civilization.
Imagine this: even though the enhancement is a fixed 20%, it effectively adds a specialized characteristic to all basic components, enhancing their power. Such characteristics are typically only found in blue premium or even purple-tier components. This single enhancement alone can give you an idea of the terrifying performance boost an Emberlight ship receives with each major ascension.
For example, the particle beam cannon, which was recently installed, had a power attribute of 173 at level 10. With the 20% enhancement, it would now be 173 × 120% = 208.
The same applied to the dark matter energy shield generator, which saw increases in both its defense and shield values.
- Defense: 880 × 120% = 1056
- Shield Value: 16280/16280 × 120% = 19536/19536
The same applied to all other basic components in the slots, and even the hull's structural integrity was boosted by 20%.
Additionally, the number of special slots increased from six to ten. This was a significant improvement, but since Song Chi currently had no additional special components, the immediate benefits were not apparent.
After the Azure Sky's ascension, Song Chi took out over 200 strands of Tier 1 Floating Land Essence and began reinforcing the "particle beam cannon" component.
To deal with high-level Void Demons, the firepower needed to be formidable. Thus, Song Chi used all the Tier 1 Floating Land Essence at his disposal, ultimately spending 180 strands to reinforce the particle beam cannon to level 16.
- Particle Beam Main Cannon (Level 16)
- Quality: Blue
- Consumption: 46 per shot (Dark Energy Points)
- Characteristic: Main cannon power increased by 18%
- Power: 389 × 120% = 466.8
- Recharge: 3 seconds; Cooldown: 5 seconds
- Upgrade Required: 51 strands of Tier 1 Floating Land Essence, 5400 Dark Energy Points
After reinforcing the main cannon, he spent additional resources to upgrade the dark energy secondary cannons to level 10.
While the main cannon had immense power, its recharge and cooldown times were relatively long. The secondary cannons, on the other hand, required no recharge or cooldown and could provide continuous fire, consuming very little dark energy. Although their power was not impressive, they were ideal for battles with large numbers of enemies.
- Dark Energy Secondary Cannon (Level 10)
- Quality: Uncommon
- Consumption: 3 per shot (Dark Energy Points)
- Power: 11 × 20% = 13.2
- No Recharge or Cooldown Required
- Upgrade Required: 2000 Dark Energy Points
With the dark energy secondary cannons reinforced to level 10, the last-minute enhancements were finally complete. As for the dark matter energy shield generator and engine components, they could not be further upgraded until they were replaced.
During the reinforcement of the Azure Sky, the attacks on the psychic energy defense array did not decrease. Watching the rippling protective light barrier and glancing at the array's defense value, Song Chi knew he couldn't delay any longer and had to launch a counterattack soon.
The shield value, which was close to 40,000 before reinforcement, had plummeted to below 35,000, and the rate of decline was alarming.
With this in mind, Song Chi activated the recently installed, yet un-reinforced, Brainwave Remote Control System. He implanted a brainwave beacon into his body. Yes, he didn't plan to fight aboard the ship. Instead, he would control the Azure Sky remotely using his brainwave, while he himself would remain in the market, commanding ten Fire Chrysanthemum Soldier Automatons to fight with civilian "energy pulse rifles." This was the most effective way to utilize all available forces.
Humming, the Azure Sky's engines activated. The ship suddenly burst out of the psychic energy defense array, leaving a long trail of flame behind it.
As soon as it emerged from the array, the rapid-fire sound of the secondary cannons began. The void demons, momentarily stunned by the nearly twenty-meter-long steel airship, quickly recovered.
The secondary cannons, though not very powerful, had an incredibly fast rate of fire. Each shot consumed only 3 psychic energy points, which was negligible for the already reinforced Level 19 psychic energy engine. As long as the engine didn't overheat, this terrifying rapid-fire could continue indefinitely.
Moreover, while the void demons were numerous, their ranks were generally low. Over 90% were of Zero Rank, and only about a hundred were of First Rank. No Second Rank demons had been spotted yet. Thus, the First Rank-reinforced secondary cannons could still inflict significant damage.
As expected, the attention of most void demons was drawn to the Azure Sky. They began flapping their dark wings, competing to chase the ship.
This reduced the pressure on the psychic energy defense array significantly. Although attacks still occasionally hit the light barrier, the rate of shield value decline was now within an acceptable range.
"Aim at those creatures outside the light barrier and fire!"
Standing at the edge of the protective light barrier, Song Chi issued the attack order.
Soon, the Fire Chrysanthemum Soldier Automatons began raising their energy pulse rifles, aiming at the void demons above and firing. Those inside the psychic energy defense array could freely counterattack without affecting the protective light barrier, which was designed to be one-way.
The reason the Azure Sky didn't simply stay inside the market to attack was that it wasn't just responsible for providing covering fire. It also needed to draw the attention of most void demons away from the psychic energy array, preventing them from concentrating their attacks on it. Otherwise, the protective light barrier wouldn't last long.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Energy pulse beams shot out, accurately striking the void demons above. These Fire Chrysanthemum Soldier Automatons had been summoned for over a month, and Song Chi had already demonstrated how to use the energy pulse rifles. Although the automatons looked awkward using these thermal weapons, they could still fire normally.
The civilian energy pulse rifle was a type of energy beam weapon developed by the Ember Human civilization, with a power level typically at the peak of Zero Rank.
Since these rifles were originally purchased for the First Rank Fire Chrysanthemum Soldier Automatons, Song Chi had the Eagle Mechanical Shop perform a firepower enhancement modification. Now, the energy pulse rifles in their hands had the standard power of First Rank.
This was a point that Song Chi was incredibly grateful for at the moment.
