Chapter 589: Treasure Hunting at the Ancestral Home
Chapter 589: Treasure Hunting at the Ancestral Home
The bustling square fell silent the moment Linke arrived.
Most of the Skrulls were stunned.
Everyone knew who he was—the War Inspector sent by the Holy Silver Federation, Linke.
To the ordinary Skrulls, even a regular Holy Silver human was like a deity, let alone someone of his stature.
But why would Linke, a person of such high rank, visit their small city of Baker?
The citizens of Baker, standing below in the square, dared not even breathe as they bowed deeply to Linke in the sky.
The foreign journalists in the center of the square were flushed with excitement. They quickly adjusted their cameras to focus on Linke. His appearance here was undoubtedly big news!
Cindy Doppler was also shocked. What could bring a War Inspector to his humble abode? Could it be that his anti-war campaign had already threatened the interests of the Holy Silver Federation?
While he was lost in thought, a faint yellow figure gradually materialized beside him.
This figure was a Skrull woman in her mid-twenties, dressed in light yellow leather armor, her features exuding a vibrant energy.
Seeing this woman, Cindy Doppler immediately halted his intention to greet Linke and hurriedly bowed to her. "It is an honor to meet you, Lady Cecilia."
This woman was none other than Baker's protector, Cecilia Assasin.
At the sight of her, the citizens of Baker immediately fell to their knees, bowing in reverence. "We pay our respects to the most exalted Lady, may your light forever shine upon the land of Baker."
"Thank you," Cecilia nodded gently at the citizens below.
However, her attention remained fixed on Linke.
She approached him slowly and bowed. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Sir Linke."
Linke returned the bow with ease.
Due to the lollipop skewer in his mouth, his words were somewhat muffled. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Lady Cecilia."
Cecilia gave him a curious look. What was that thing in his mouth?
The journalists below shared her thoughts and quickly snapped a few close-ups of the lollipop skewer.
Linke paid no mind to the Skrulls' curiosity.
With a wave of his hand, an ancient, deep brown magic book appeared in his hand.
He flipped through the book and addressed Cecilia and the other Skrulls.
"I'm here to seek treasure. A few days ago, I obtained a treasure map, and the location marked on it is nearby. I'm here to find it."
"I see," Cecilia nodded.
Cindy Doppler, standing beside them, let out a sigh of relief. He had been worried about something serious, but it was just a treasure hunt. No big deal.
"Sir Linke, please go ahead with your treasure hunt. I won't be in your way. If you need anything, just call me!" With that, Cecilia's figure vanished into the sky.
She didn't want to intrude on such a minor task; the Inspector needed his freedom.
Linke turned to face all the Skrulls below and announced loudly, "I'm looking for a place at 213 Crownbird Street in Balertown, Baker City. Is there anyone familiar with the local geography who can guide me? I'll offer 500 Blaze Coins as a reward."
Hearing Linke's words, the Skrulls in the square were taken aback.
Soon, large groups of Skrulls raised their hands high.
"Lord Link, I know the way to that place!"
"My home is not far from there; I can take you!"
"213 Crownbird Street, Bal Town. This address sounds familiar. I can guide you."
The crowd wasn't interested in the 500 Sol Coins as a reward; they were eager to connect with Link through this opportunity. This was a genuine stroke of luck! If Link was in a good mood and offered some extra "little things" as a reward, it could benefit many for a lifetime!
Everyone was exceptionally excited, vying to raise their hands.
Even foreign journalists joined in, despite not knowing where Bal Town was.
But at that moment, Cindy Doppler, floating in the sky, suddenly wore a peculiar expression, similar to a black question mark.
"Um, Cindy Doppler raised her hand in the air and spoke hesitantly, "Sir Link, I can take you there. It's not that I'm trying to steal the credit, but the address you mentioned, 213 Crownbird Street, Bal Town, is my hometown and my ancestral home. No one is better suited to guide you there."
Hearing Cindy Doppler's words, the excited crowd below fell silent.
Many citizens were initially displeased with the first part of her statement. What? A prime minister trying to compete with the people?
But after hearing the second part, no one questioned the prime minister's decision to take Link there. After all, it was her ancestral home; it made perfect sense for her to lead the way.
A resident in the square smacked his head, suddenly realizing, "Of course! No wonder this address sounded familiar. Has everyone forgotten? The prime minister often held campaign rallies there when she first entered politics!"
"Right, now I remember too."
"Me too, I even attended one of those rallies!"
The seasoned voters chimed in with their support.
Link gave Cindy Doppler an "unexpected" glance and politely said, "In that case, I'll trouble you to take me there! Of course, the reward won't be lacking."
"Sure, this way, please," Cindy Doppler didn't refuse and personally led the way, flying ahead.
Three minutes later, they appeared above 213 Crownbird Street, Bal Town, Cindy Doppler's ancestral home.
Because they flew so quickly, only a few high-level experts managed to follow. The rest of the journalists and civilians were still en route in their floating vehicles.
Link didn't care about any of this.
After a brief chat with Cindy Doppler, he dove straight into the ground, disappearing completely.
Cindy Doppler didn't follow him down (as she couldn't burrow), and instead waited outside with the other experts from the Beker Kingdom.
About ten minutes later, the citizens and journalists who had been observing the ceremony in the square rushed over, surrounding the area.
Cindy Doppler loudly explained the situation to the citizens and journalists. They all waited together on the square, anticipating Link's emergence from underground.
After another two minutes, Link felt the time was right. He emerged from the ground, appearing in mid-air beside Cindy Doppler.
Link wore a very satisfied smile, eager to show everyone how pleased he was with his Bounty.
