Chapter 589: The Ministry's Warning Letter
Chapter 589: The Ministry's Warning Letter
As Kyle gazed at the owl that had suddenly appeared before him, along with the letter it carried in its talons, he didn't pay it much mind.
Lately, he had been receiving all sorts of letters, so it would have been strange if there wasn't one.
However, the fact that Mr. Weasley had rushed back during his commute to work... Could it be the meeting that Dumbledore held, as mentioned by McKell?
Kyle took the envelope, extracted the letter within, and began reading it curiously.
Then, his expression changed.
This letter wasn't from Dumbledore but the Ministry of Magic, and its content was absurd. Kyle even thought he might have misread it.
Either that or the people at the Ministry had gone mad.
"What is this?"
Seeing that Kyle remained silent, Fred and George curiously approached and started reading the letter aloud.
"We have received a report that you used a spell at the Cauldron Pub at 10:36 a.m. today.
This act violates The Reasonable Constraints Act on Underage Wizards. Please come to the Ministry of Magic on the morning of August 12th to explain the situation; otherwise, we have the right to expel you.
Madam Malkin..."
"No, did I read it wrong?"
Fred couldn't help but exclaim, "Or did I read it wrong? Using magic in the Cauldron Pub warrants a warning?"
"Have they gone mad?" George also seemed taken aback. "Or is there a Muggle hiding in the Cauldron Pub?"
They clearly remembered that while The Reasonable Constraints Act prohibited underage wizards from using magic outside of school, there was a precondition: there had to be a Muggle present when the magic was used.
If this condition wasn't met, it was unlikely anyone would care, let alone in the Cauldron Pub.
Those who appeared there were mostly wizards, and even if there were Muggles, they were likely parents of students. Everyone knew wizards existed, so how could it violate the Act?
"Watch your words, George," Percy interjected, pretending to adjust his collar.
"In any case, underage wizards are not allowed to use magic outside of school, that's the rule, regardless of the location."
"Percy, why don't you move your room to the garden? I think you and the goblins would get along very well."
George glared at him in dissatisfaction, "The Cauldron Pub is right next to Diagon Alley, with so many wizards around. How can the Ministry claim that Kyle used magic and not someone else?"
"That's because..." Percy stammered, "The Ministry must have its ways. Minister Fudge would never make a mistake. If Kyle did something wrong, he must accept the punishment..."
"Shut up, you big-headed boy!" Fred said irritably, "Do you dare say you've never used magic at home?"
"I haven't..."
Before Percy could finish, George let out a snort.
"I remember you using the Accio Charm to find the glasses we hid."
"Using the Stickfast Charm to seal the envelope so we couldn't see it."
"And the Reparo Charm..."
"The Lumos Charm..."
"The Banishing Charm..."
Fred and George kept rattling off various spell names, and whenever they stumbled, Ron and Ginny would fill in the gaps.
With each spell they mentioned, Percy's face grew more unsightly, until he eventually closed his mouth and returned to his room without saying a word.
"That annoying guy finally left," Fred said. "Ever since he got promoted, he's become more and more unbearable."
Then he turned to Mr. Weasley, "Dad, what's going on here?"
"Yeah," George said, "Why would Kyle get in trouble for using magic at the Cauldron Pub?"
"I'm not sure either," Mr. Weasley shook his head, "Madam Malkin informed me. She said someone insisted that Kyle used a spell outside of school and asked her to send a warning letter.
"Who was it?"
"She didn't say."
Mr. Weasley tapped his fingers on the table, hesitating for a moment before continuing, "There's something else."
"What?"
"It's not just Kyle going to the Ministry of Magic; Harry is too."
"Harry? Did he use magic in Diagon Alley as well?"
"Not Diagon Alley, but in Little Hangleton," Mr. Weasley clarified. "And it was right in front of three Muggles."
Ron and Ginny stood up simultaneously.
"No, I need to ask him about this," Ron said anxiously, then turned and ran upstairs.
"It's worse than that," Mr. Weasley sighed. "This isn't the first time Harry has used magic in front of Muggles, so Kyle was just going to inquire, but now he's facing a trial."
"A trial?" Ginny's face paled. "Harry, will he be expelled?"
"No, he won't!" Mr. Weasley shook his head firmly. "They can't expel Harry, and Dumbledore wouldn't allow it."

"Sorry, kids, I might have something to attend to, oh, and Kyle..."
Mr. Weasley's tone softened, "Don't worry, just like I said earlier, they can't be sure if it was you or someone else in Diagon Alley who cast the spell, so you're in the clear. It's just a formality."
With that, Mr. Weasley hurriedly left the shabby residence.
Ginny soon returned to her room, leaving only Kyle, Fred, and George in the living room.
"You... really used a spell?" Fred asked tentatively.
Kyle nodded.
He admitted to this; to prevent Rita Skeeter from exposing him, he had indeed used a Silencing Charm, but the question was how the Ministry of Magic found out.
Could it be that someone had witnessed it?
But even if they had, why make such a big deal out of it? When did the Ministry officials become so diligent?
Kyle felt there was definitely something wrong with this situation.
Did Rita Skeeter report him?
"No, it shouldn't be her," Kyle immediately dismissed the idea.
It wasn't a matter of trusting Rita's character, but she wouldn't dare. Whether it was his Animagus identity or Fudge's secret, these weren't things that could be easily brushed aside with a few words.
Even for her own sake, Rita wouldn't report him.
Could it be because of Voldemort... Did Fudge know that Kyle was also on Dumbledore's side?
That was a possibility. During the holidays, Kyle had written many letters without hiding anything, so it was normal for Fudge to find out.
But for Fudge to come after him for simply talking about it seemed a bit petty.
Kyle casually tossed the letters to the side.
"It's okay, Kyle," Fred reassured him. "There are many wizards in Diagon Alley. As long as you don't admit it, they'll never know you used magic."
"Yeah," George agreed. "And the Cauldron Pub is full of wizards. Using magic there doesn't violate the Reasonable Constraints Act, so they can't do anything to you."
"Yeah, I know," Kyle nodded.
Despite saying this, he was indeed disgusted by their methods, including the situation with Harry, which he estimated was also related to the Ministry of Magic.
As Mr. Weasley mentioned earlier, Harry had used magic in front of three Muggles, which was likely the Dursley family.
They should have investigated and known that the Dursleys hated Harry, so they might not only refuse to help him but also blame him for it.
Even though Harry had protected them.
"It's like... the Forbidden Forest has all sorts of creatures," Kyle muttered under his breath.
