【Settlement completed, please continue.】
After returning to the Login Space, Feng Bu Jue tapped the touchscreen to review the results.
This was his first time clearing the game’s Nightmare difficulty team scenario. Judging from the outcome… the rewards were quite impressive.
The massive experience gain stemmed partly from the extended time spent clearing the scenario and partly from completing numerous tasks. The nine main quests were: 【Search Chu Mo Island, enter the "Faith Shrine" within three hours, players failing to enter the shrine will face erasure】; 【Reach the basin-shaped altar at the base of the Faith Shrine within three hours, players failing to arrive will face erasure】; 【Within fifteen minutes, use the basin-shaped altar in the Priest Hall to summon and defeat the Wandering God Wokol】; 【Pass through the corridor beyond the basin-shaped altar within one hour and reach the Crystal Labyrinth】; 【Reach the Despair Cage】; 【Find a way to open the cage】; 【Break the Despair Cage’s seal】; 【Survive】; and 【Escape Chu Mo Island】.
While Bi Li’s interference created some complications… overall, the scenario’s death rate and difficulty had steadily increased.
As for the two side quests — 【Describe the seven sins to satisfy Lie Sen De’s "hunger"】 and 【Reach Can Mu’s Nest before Fei Chai Shu’s death (or other scenario exit) and rescue him】 — they only completed one, resulting in a missed direct reward. This was somewhat regrettable.
“Wow… so many Puzzle Piece Cards at once…” Feng Bu Jue muttered, staring at the screen. “With all the rewards focusing on Puzzle Piece Cards, it’s probably to encourage players to quickly familiarize themselves with the new Puzzle Piece Card Exchange…” He paused, then pulled out the electric shaver from his satchel, examining it closely. “Besides the Puzzle Piece Cards… this thing is the most valuable item I got this time.”
Feng Bu Jue reread the item’s description but still couldn’t figure out its purpose: “Hmm… ‘Grants a cool appearance’? What kind of special effect is that? Could this be a parody item tagged as ‘legendary’?”
Beep—beep—
A communication request popped up on the screen, interrupting Feng Bu Jue’s thoughts.
Checking the sender, he saw it was a group call involving Hong Hu, Fei Chai Shu, and Tian Ma Xing Kong. They must’ve finished reviewing their rewards and wanted to discuss.
After hesitating for two seconds, Feng Bu Jue accepted the call and entered the chat channel.
As the call connected, Fei Chai Shu’s voice came first: “Ah, I just finished a Kill Game Mode match. When I saw the experience split, I knew you guys succeeded in clearing the scenario.”
“I died so unfairly! That coward had such strong capabilities and still ambushed me. Did you avenge me?” Tian Ma Xing Kong’s voice followed.
Hong Hu replied, “Sorry… we retreated later. After you were eliminated, besides the boss that ambushed you, the Samo Di Er quickly appeared — the one who had a history with Feng Bu Jue. In that situation… a two-on-two against those two monsters was unrealistic, so we escaped through the secret paths at the pit’s bottom.” He paused. “Unexpectedly, after running for a while, the 【Survive】 task suddenly completed. Then the 【Escape Chu Mo Island】 task appeared.”
“Huh? How did you actually escape the island?” Fei Chai Shu asked.
“The methods to leave Chu Mo Island…” Feng Bu Jue now answered, “are two in total.” He smiled. “Of course, ‘dying’ doesn’t count… that’s not leaving.”
“So what are the two methods?” Brother Horse asked again.
“The first is brute force… leaving through spells, abilities, or physical means,” Feng Bu Jue explained. “We naturally found this difficult, though many prisoners on the island could manage it. However, all prisoners on Chu Mo Island were suppressed by ‘a set of keys.’ Without those keys, even if they could move freely on the island, they couldn’t leave its boundaries.”
Pausing for a few seconds, he continued, “The second method… is a transaction. As I mentioned, many prisoners had the ability to leave the island, but they were suppressed by the keys. However, their inability to leave themselves didn’t mean they couldn’t send someone else away.”
“Oh… I get it,” Fei Chai Shu said, understanding. “Back in the Ghost Swamp, you already learned the escape method from Fu Ling and made a deal with her.”
“Hmph… planning an exit route in advance but not telling us a word,” Hong Hu suddenly interjected coldly. He’d actually been slightly dissatisfied with Feng Bu Jue’s hidden maneuver before leaving the scenario, though he hadn’t mentioned it then.
“There was no point in telling,” Feng Bu Jue replied. “The deal with Fu Ling was personal, not for our team.”
“Ah… forget it. At least we cleared the scenario.” Hong Hu retorted.
“By the way… Ji Bu should be fine, right?” Tian Ma Xing Kong suddenly asked, as if recalling something. “After exiting the scenario, I noticed he was still offline.”
“Definitely okay,” Feng Bu Jue said with a laugh. “He’s so young… could he actually be scared to death?” He shrugged. “He was probably placed under ‘login restrictions’… the game manual mentions that’s the protective mechanism for being scared offline… I bet he won’t log in tonight.”
“Ohhh, I see…” Brother Horse clearly wasn’t someone who’d study the game manual.
The four then discussed details and plot points from the scenario.
After chatting for ten minutes, they parted ways.
Before ending the communication, Feng Bu Jue added all three as friends. However, after Hong Hu remarked, “We’d better keep contact minimal,” Feng Bu Jue removed them from his friend list…
………
Exiting this long Nightmare scenario, Feng Bu Jue was indeed tired, but he decided to handle some minor tasks before logging out.
Instead of rushing to claim his rewards, he headed to the mall for simple trades.
Arriving at Area 101, Feng Bu Jue went straight to the supplies store, took out his satchel’s contents—elf (demigod) meat, wild mountain goat (with wolf lineage) meat, and gecko (heart of fear) meat—and sold all of it.
These miscellaneous items were of “Common” quality, so they weren’t listed individually in the settlement interface. However, their shop prices were surprisingly high… especially the Wandering God Wokol’s meat, which fetched thousands in game currency. Feng Bu Jue used the funds to purchase vitality value supplements and ammunition.
Under the strange gazes of nearby players, Feng Bu Jue completed this bloodshed transaction… and quickly fled back to the Login Space.
Next came the enjoyable moment of drawing equipment.
Feng Bu Jue quickly claimed the four Puzzle Piece Cards, checked their contents, then placed 【Puzzle Piece Card - Ping Pong】, 【Puzzle Piece Card - Father】, 【Puzzle Piece Card - Spider】, and 【Puzzle Piece Card - Countdown】 into the storage room’s box.
Then… he approached the remaining glass column.
【Please choose your extra reward: One, randomly draw equipment corresponding to your level (after the version update, this option may also randomly yield items from the "Tools" or "Other" categories), Two, 50,000 game currency, Three, 17,200,000 experience points】
The experience reward, ten times that of a normal Nightmare scenario, was naturally ignored by Feng Bu Jue…
Before the system prompt finished, he decisively chose the first option.
White light reappeared, gradually taking shape… This time, the equipment was small, seemingly something one could grasp in a single hand.
As the light faded, Feng Bu Jue focused and saw… a pipe.
【Name: Oxygen Pipe】
【Type: Other】
【Quality: Fine】
【Special Effect: Inhaling provides a trace amount of oxygen】
【Equipment Condition: None, binds after one use】
【Background: No ignition required, no tobacco needed, simply place it in your mouth. When you "smoke" it, it emits smoke, but only pure oxygen enters your lungs.】
Feng Bu Jue examined the wooden pipe closely. Its overall color was brown, the surface polished smooth with no cracks or flaws. The handle bore darker tones, etched with a small line of text — Smoking is harmful to your health.
“Heh… not bad at all,” Feng Bu Jue muttered, placing the pipe in his mouth and taking a few experimental puffs.
Without ignition or tobacco, wisps of white smoke drifted from the bowl, carrying a strong, aromatic scent.
“A great item…” Feng Bu Jue pulled the pipe from his mouth, adding, “With this… I can survive a long time in low-oxygen environments.” Already scheming, he thought, “In future Kill Game Modes, if the environment allows, I could drag opponents to the seabed or high altitudes for attrition warfare… Hehe… that’d be interesting.”
Since this was a practical item, Feng Bu Jue had no intention of destroying it. He promptly stored it in his satchel.
Finally, he reviewed his overall status, opened the menu, and clicked the logout option.
