Chapter 585: Chu Mo Island
Chapter 585: Chu Mo Island (End)
“Feng… Bu… Jue…” Samo di er glared at Feng Bu Jue with seething fury, advancing step by step.
“You don’t need to shout my name repeatedly,” Feng Bu Jue replied in a rather impatient tone. “I’m not deaf.”
Hearing that, Samo di er actually stopped shouting. Instead, he swung his arm violently, unleashing a black energy slash that roared toward Feng Bu Jue.
Screeching like a thousand rattles— the ground’s crystal formations were easily torn apart by the strike.
Feng Bu Jue had already entered combat rhythm. Relying on his Soul Intent and absolute speed, dodging the attack was no problem.
But what he intended to do… was far more than just evade.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Golden light flashed as rapid strikes erupted.
At the same moment Samo di er intervened, Death Poker also suddenly intervened.
Earlier, while Feng Bu Jue had his hands in his pockets, he’d secretly activated his psionic weapon inside his coat, giving him a relaxed advantage now.
However, the poker’s target… wasn’t Samo di er, but—
“Hmph… resorting to petty tricks?” Xing Shi smirked coldly as the golden light flew toward his face. “Humans will always be humans… Do you really think an attack of this level can harm me?” He raised his hand to block, effortlessly scattering the Death Poker cards. “Hah! Aim’s not bad—trying to hit my eyes, huh?”
Boom—
Moon Step pierced the air as his silhouette surged forward.
Feng Bu Jue’s assault hadn’t ended. As Xing Shi casually swatted the cards aside, Feng Bu Jue had already closed in, extending both arms to strike at Xing Shi’s ribs.
“Looking for death…?” Xing Shi sneered, muttering as he watched Feng Bu Jue. In his eyes, this otherworld traveler was either a fool or a madman. With human abilities, attempting hand-to-hand combat against him was nothing but suicidal.
Yet… when Feng Bu Jue’s hands touched Xing Shi’s body, an unexpected twist occurred.
The next second, Xing Shi felt the scenery before his eyes abruptly shift. As he suddenly realized, he had already appeared beside Samo di er.
Before he could recover from his shock, a harsh roar rang in his ears: “Die, Xing Shi!”
“What?!” Startled, Xing Shi instinctively reacted. He stomped his foot and shot into the air like a cannonball.
He deeply feared Samo di er’s capabilities. Frankly, he had no confidence surviving a direct attack, so his first instinct was to evade.
But… as Xing Shi soared midair, something felt… off.
“Damn it!” Once his panic subsided a little, he cast his gaze back toward the crater below. That’s when he realized he’d been tricked.
By then, Feng Bu Jue had already reached Hong Hu’s side, feeding him a *-500 pill and a bottle of Vitality Value Supplement.
“Hmph… not bad tactics,” Hong Hu said, rising to his feet and instantly entering combat mode. He didn’t thank Feng Bu Jue, merely commenting on the series of maneuvers.
“Not bad… though nothing particularly brilliant,” Feng Bu Jue replied, glancing up at the airborne Xing Shi. “Thankfully, our target’s a bit of an idiot.”
He clearly said this to provoke Xing Shi. In reality… Feng Bu Jue’s tactics had been quite clever. Ever since his dialogue with Xing Shi began, he had already planned each step.
First, secretly preparing Death Poker. Then, using the cards to ambush Xing Shi’s eyes, creating an opening to close in. Once near him, unleashing Flying Sands Whirlwind to drag him to Samo di er’s vicinity. Finally, before Xing Shi could react… rushing toward his ally while using Deceit Pocket Watch to mimic Samo di er’s voice and shout a killing blow.
Based on Xing Shi’s attitude toward Samo di er and some subtle reactions, Feng Bu Jue had concluded Xing Shi’s capabilities were inferior to Samo di er’s. Thus, within mere seconds, he’d devised this plan…
Relying solely on a voice-altering device to deceive Xing Shi during the latter’s momentary hesitation and shock. No matter how fast Xing Shi reacted, Feng Bu Jue had already dragged him dozens of meters away. Even if Xing Shi realized his mistake within two seconds, Feng Bu Jue had still reached Hong Hu two seconds earlier. The worst-case scenario… would’ve been Feng Bu Jue failing to administer the Panacea to Hong Hu, forcing him to carry Hong Hu and flee.
But now… was the best possible outcome.
“You cunning bastard…” Xing Shi spat curses midair before turning his gaze down at Samo di er and shouting, “Samo di er! Isn’t he your mortal enemy?! Why are you just standing there?! Kill him!”
“Don’t command me!” Samo di er roared toward the sky, then turned his gaze to Feng Bu Jue. “Don’t need you to tell me—I’ll tear him apart.” Saying so, his demonic hooves began to step forward.
Crunch… crunch…
This ferocious demon spread his wings, claws scraping, murderous intent blazing as he advanced toward the two players.
“Today, the Time Lord won’t come to save you,” he declared while walking. “I told you… I’ll make you pay the price.”
“Hong Hu…” Feng Bu Jue stared intently at the approaching Samo di er, whispering out of the corner of his mouth, “I’ve got a plan.”
“What?” Hong Hu lowered his voice in response.
“Run.” Feng Bu Jue chuckled.
“Great plan.” Hong Hu immediately replied.
Indeed, a great plan—since it didn’t conflict with the main quest…
“Alright, I’ll create an opening. Seize the chance and vanish,” Feng Bu Jue said with a grin.
“Got it.” Hong Hu confirmed.
With their strategy set, Feng Bu Jue began his maneuver. He pulled out an object from his pocket, hurled it forward, and shouted, “Decision’s on you—Bai Ju Zhi Shen!”
“What kind of name is that…?” Hong Hu couldn’t help but mutter under his breath.
But his grumbling wouldn’t hinder the events…
The Poké Ball soared midair, popping open with a clink, unleashing a torrent of white light.
The Poké Ball soared midair, popping open with a clink, unleashing a torrent of white light.
Within seconds, the white light solidified, transforming from intangible to real—a giant mushroom person emerged.
“Crap—crap—” The mushroom man shouted twice upon appearance. Facing Samo di er from several meters away, he showed no fear at all, adopting a karate-style stance to prepare for battle.
“Bai Ju Zhi Shen! Use Snow Dance in the Nine Heavens!” Feng Bu Jue swung his arm forward, issuing the attack command.
“Hey! Where the heck did you learn that technique name from?!” Hong Hu shouted out in frustration again.
Meanwhile… before Feng Bu Jue’s voice faded, the mushroom man had already surged forward. He sprinted, closed the distance to Samo di er, then leapt from the ground, soaring above him.
“Crap!” The mushroom man placed a hand on Samo di er’s head to stabilize himself upside-down, then used the other hand to rub the cap of his mushroom head, scattering countless spores-like particles.
Samo di er, one of the mighty bosses of the Main Universe… was actually poisoned.
“Unforgivable…” Veins on Samo di er’s forehead burst, purple liquid spraying out, splattering his own face.
In his rage, his inner energy violently erupted, like a dam breaking, radiating outward.
“Crap—” The mushroom man screamed once, then was blown to dust by the erupting black energy.
Seeing this, Feng Bu Jue knew the moment had come. He lightly shouted to Hong Hu, “Now!” Before his words exited his mouth, he’d already started running.
Hong Hu naturally didn’t hesitate, turning and sprinting away.
The two shot forward like arrows loosed from bows, covering dozens of meters in an instant. Xing Shi midair wanted to stop them, but he was blocked by Samo di er’s erupting energy, failing to pursue immediately.
“Agh! Agh—” Samo di er howled like a madman for dozens of seconds before finally reining in his raging demon energy. “Mad Bu Jue! Where are you?! I’ll kill you!”
“Idiot! He’s already fled!” Xing Shi shouted toward the direction the two players escaped, not even glancing back. “Quick, follow me! I can track them… uh…”
This instant…
A claw pierced through Xing Shi's back, its grip tightening around his heart.
"Ugh... you...?" Xing Shi's eyes widened, his face frozen in disbelief.
"Who's the idiot now? Idiot", Samo di er's chilling voice hissed.
"W-why...?" Black blood trickled from Xing Shi's lips.
"Of course, it's not just because you called me an idiot, hehehe..." Samo di er sneered.
In this moment, Samo di er was a complete stranger from the man moments ago. His earlier frenzy, recklessness, and brutality—all false appearances.
His eyes had never clouded with rage or anger.
Born into an evil Race yet climbing steadily to the rank of Shi Guan, his depth of character and wisdom were unquestionable. Those who underestimated this would pay the price...
"Bi Li... let me pass on a greeting from him", Samo di er added, his words striking Xing Shi like a bucket of icy water, sending a chill deep into his bones.
............
"I really did come here just to visit you..."
"After all, your time is nearly up..."
............
"That damned... bastard..." Xing Shi gritted his teeth. "He came to see me off in my final moments?"
"Hehe... You finally understand", Samo di er chuckled. "Everything on Chu Mo Island... is a transaction. Don't blame me—I simply made a deal with him."
"No... that doesn't add up... Why would he still warn you?" Xing Shi rasped.
"Because he knows exactly how to hook a smartass like you", Samo di er replied. "Bi Li gave you the slightest hint, and you couldn't sit still; a corpse of a Can Mu cultivator sent you spiraling into paranoia. After he left, you rushed into the maze realm, investigated, and found the culprits—the otherworld travelers."
"How... could you know...?" Xing Shi gasped.
"Isn't it obvious?" Samo di er snarled. "You think the prison's seal only just weakened?"
"That's impossible..." Xing Shi's face paled. "Bi Li couldn't have..."
"No, his capability is formidable", Samo di er said. "Though I was surprised myself... he's even stronger than me now." He paused. "But that's not the point. The moment I struck a deal with Bi Li, I was already free—my power no longer bound by this cage. From that moment on, everything on this island... I could perceive it all."
"And every little thing you did..." Samo di er laughed coldly. "No matter how much you love to play the fool, at heart, you're still a scheming rat. Xing Shi, you've never had the courage to face a stronger opponent head-on. Even against the weak, you prefer underhanded tricks like ambushes or backstabs..."
"You're no different from any sadist in this world. All your acts, all your actions, are just masks to hide the cowardice and weakness inside you. Compared to you, even worms would be noble. You're nothing but a nauseating worm..."
With that, Samo di er tightened his claw, crushing harder. "To be honest... getting a petty thief like you to slip up... wasn't easy at all." He twisted his neck. "I put on quite a performance, but your guard never wavered. Hmph... If I hadn't feared you still held the Key to resealing me, I'd have killed you long ago. No need to wait for this opportunity..."
Xing Shi could no longer speak. Despair and regret flooded his eyes, Bi Li's words flashing endlessly through his mind...
............
"Never trust appearances at face value."
............
"Thankfully..." Samo di er continued, "Mad Bu Jue didn't disappoint. He really is an annoying bastard, isn't he? Hehe... With his help, my act felt all the more natural." His tone shifted slightly. "But leaving that aside... Mad Bu Jue's capability has grown remarkably. You must've realized it when you ambushed him—he's in a completely different league from the other two otherworld travelers. I'll admit... choosing to pit the tiger against the wolf and letting me kill him was the right decision." He glared at Xing Shi. "If you'd killed Hong Hu too, leaving Mad Bu Jue alone... you'd be the one in danger..." His voice dropped. "Without any witnesses, that kid wouldn't need to hide his strength. You'd probably die by his hand..."
............
"Never underestimate that bastard who's better at being annoying than you are..."
............
After several minutes, Xing Shi's life ebbed away. Samo di er's words ensured his death was a clear one.
In his final moments, Xing Shi summoned his last strength for one last whisper: "Time Lord... won't... forgive you..."
"Heh..." Samo di er scoffed. "Now that sounds like the perfect final words for someone like you..."
Crack—
The claw clenched, the heart exploded. Black blood surged like a tide, splattering the sky.
Samo di er flung Xing Shi's corpse aside like trash, then stomped his hoof, crushing the head, chest, abdomen, limbs... until only a meat paste remained.
He crouched, plucked a claw, and carefully extracted a purple-gleaming thread from the spine—the Key chain of Chu Mo Island's administrator.
"So many culprits here already", Samo di er mused, holding up the glowing thread. "Hehe... Releasing all of you should make things interesting..."
Pocketing the thread, he turned toward where the two players had fled. "So... that kid already struck a deal with Fu Ling..." He snorted. "Prepared an escape route in advance. From the start, he's been untouchable..." He shook his head. "Fine, I'll let you go this time. After all... I have much to do before the Time Lord discovers what's happened here..."
Muttering to himself, he spread his massive wings, inhaled a surge of dark energy, and soared into the sky...
............
Meanwhile, in the distant reaches of the main universe...
Chrono City, First Shi Guan Mansion.
"Three moves and checkmate."
The speaker's voice rumbled like boulders, and his figure matched—over two and a half meters tall, his body an amalgam of marble slabs, his form resembling a muscular human. Even his hair was peculiar: battlement-like crests circling his skull like a crown.
This stone colossus was Tian Shi, the First Shi Guan under the Time Lord.
"Hey! Don't rush me! Did I rush you earlier?"
His opponent was a mundane-looking old man in Middle-earth wizard attire (white robes), proudly sporting an old-school emo hairstyle.
This was Wisdom God Wisden.
Tian Shi and Wisden often gathered here for their chess-like games (chess pieces modeled after creatures from the main universe). Ironically, the so-called "Wisdom God" lost far more often than he won.
"We had this exact conversation an hour ago", Tian Shi added.
"Shut up! Do I look senile to you?" Wisden snapped, scratching his head over the chessboard.
"Sigh..." Tian Shi leaned on his cheek, turning away. "Would you mind if I stepped out for a bit?"
"Eh, whatever", Wisden grumbled.
Tian Shi shrugged, walked to a corner, poured a drink from a kettle, and gulped it down.
Suddenly, his eyes caught something...
In an instant, his expression shifted. He spat out his drink mid-gulp.
"Agh!" He roared, startling Wisden beside the board.
"What? What's wrong?" Wisden yelped, scanning the room. "Did the Demon Lord attack?"
"Something's happened on Chu Mo Island!" Tian Shi barked, already sprinting toward the door.
Wisden froze for a moment, then stood and followed to where Tian Shi had stood.
On the wall hung a rack holding a strange orb—a glowing white eye with a thin amber thread through its center.
