Chapter 581: The Life-Extending Elixir
Chapter 581: The Life-Extending Elixir
Lan Qi sized up Prime Minister Gordon, then snapped his fingers.
The office service robot received his command and immediately poured a glass of freshly squeezed Lekoch bug juice, presenting it to Gordon.
"Prime Minister Gordon," Lan Qi gestured politely, "This is high-quality Lekoch bug juice harvested from the sunbug farms at 45° North latitude. Would you like to try it?"
Gordon: "."
He took the glass from the robot and glanced inside. The cup was filled with a green, viscous liquid that emitted a strong, pungent odor.
Gordon had seen Su Yu's "travel" videos and knew exactly what Lekoch bugs looked like. The thought made his stomach churn.
But then again, if he refused, would it upset the Skrulls? Would it affect their good opinion of him?
After much deliberation, Gordon made a decision that went against his ancestors' teachings—drink it!
He closed his eyes and, like taking medicine, gulped down the bug juice in one go, not daring to taste it.
However, the residue in his mouth still coated his tongue with a thick layer of protein, accompanied by a strong, foul smell and a fishy stench, nearly making him vomit.
It reminded him of the time he had curiously tasted Sweden's famous dish—fermented herring. The two were equally revolting.
But Gordon forced himself to suppress the urge to vomit and managed to force a smile that was more painful than a cry.
"How does it taste?" Lan Qi asked curiously.
"Um, the taste is... quite good, very unique," Gordon lied with a strained smile.
He felt that all the lies he had ever told in his life paled in comparison to this one.
"Good to hear," Lan Qi smiled.
He could tell the human in front of him was lying, but he didn't care.
"Our previous collaborations have been very pleasant," Lan Qi continued, "You've provided us with a lot of valuable intelligence from China, much of which has been very useful. As a token of our appreciation, we would like to give you this elixir."
With a wave of his hand, the service robot reappeared, holding a bottle the size of a soda bottle and walking over to Gordon.
The elixir was a deep, blood-red color, and in the center of the bottle, a fleshy, heart-like mass pulsed "thump-thump," looking quite eerie.
"What is this?" Gordon asked, taking the bottle. The elixir continued to throb in his palm, nearly slipping out of his grasp.
Fortunately, he held on tight, preventing it from flying away.
"This is a life-extending elixir," Lan Qi answered straightforwardly. "Your human lifespan is capped at around 130 years, but most people don't make it past their seventies or eighties. This elixir can extend your lifespan to 200 years and restore your physical functions to those of a 40-50 year-old. It's a special formula we developed specifically for humans, with no side effects."
Extend lifespan!
Restore physical functions?
Gordon's eyes lit up, and his body and arms trembled uncontrollably.
For a man at the pinnacle of power on Earth, at the age of 70, the idea of gaining 70 more years of life and restored physical functions was almost unimaginable!
If he had to measure it in money, he would gladly offer billions, no, trillions of dollars in exchange!
Humans are like that; the older they get, the less they want to die.
Now, the opportunity was right in front of him. All he had to do was drink this elixir, and he would gain 70 more years of life!
But...
Gordon didn't let his excitement cloud his judgment.
After all, the Skrulls' claims about the potion's effects were just their word. Was this bottle of potion really as miraculous as they said?
What if the Skrulls had fabricated this lie just to trick him into drinking the potion, so they could completely control his mind afterward?
As soon as this thought crossed Gordon's mind, Janieve, standing behind him, smiled gently.
"Rest assured, Prime Minister Gordon. We are allies and would never engage in such despicable behavior as controlling an ally's thoughts. Besides, if we truly wanted to control you, it wouldn't matter whether you drank this potion or not."
This time, she subtly used "Psychic Suggestion," and Prime Minister Gordon almost instantly accepted her words as truth.
"Alright, thank you for the potion. Can I drink it now?" Gordon was already eager to do so.
"Of course." Janieve gave Gordon a warm smile.
In Skrull aesthetics, Janieve was considered a top beauty. However, to humans, Skrull women all looked similar, and their green skin was a significant detractor. Gordon was not at all attracted to her.
He pulled the cork from the bottle and drank it in one go, swallowing the pulsating flesh ball in the potion without hesitation.
After drinking the potion, Prime Minister Gordon felt a burning sensation in his chest, as if he had just swallowed scalding hot water.
The burning sensation quickly spread through his bloodstream from his stomach to every part of his body, from the tips of his hair to the tips of his toes. Every cell in his body was filled with this burning, as if he were being rotated inside a microwave.
Lance and Janieve exchanged a glance.
They remained completely composed, silently observing the special changes occurring within Gordon.
The burning sensation in Gordon's body lasted for two minutes.
After two minutes, he felt his flesh and blood begin to reshape. Telomerase was produced in large quantities by his cells, and the telomeres that had disappeared within the cells were rapidly repaired.
His bodily functions were quickly restored, and his mind became increasingly clear.
Another five minutes passed, and he felt like a completely renewed person!
Age spots had completely faded, and his muscles and bones, which had been nearly atrophied, regained their resilience.
He stood up from the dog-shaped robot, staring in disbelief at his hands, arms, and abdomen.
He had truly regained his youth and vitality in just a few minutes. It was simply unbelievable!
"Prime Minister Gordon, how do you feel?" Lance leaned back in his leather chair, a slight smile on his lips as he looked at Gordon.
"This is truly unbelievable, it's so amazing!" Prime Minister Gordon responded in a daze. The sensation was like a dream, and he felt like he hadn't even woken up yet.
"There's no need to be surprised," Lance waved his hand dismissively. "This is just a token of our goodwill. If we continue to deepen our cooperation and conquer the entire Blue Star, we will offer you the position of Speaker in the Blue Star United Government. At that time, living to 500 or even 1000 years won't be out of the question."
Lance and Emperor Sol's mindset had also shifted slightly.
If there were more eighth-tier god-level beings on Blue Star, they might not be able to eliminate all humans.
Cultivating a few puppet governments like Gordon's seemed like a viable alternative.
