Chapter 58: Titan Breath Technique
Chapter 58: Titan Breath Technique
Pit Two.
A group of people rushed in, their voices echoing loudly.
Unlike the disciplined and uniformed city guards, this group was more like a ragtag bunch of soldiers.
They wore various outfits, carried all sorts of weapons, and varied in height and skin color, forming a chaotic group.
However, the aura they exuded was incredibly powerful.
A few individuals in the middle had their life force concentrated, revealing themselves as Peak Knights, which was why the city guards did not dare to act rashly.
"Hal!"
A short man in the crowd shouted, "No wonder you didn't let us in. There's a City of Forgotten Souls here, and you thought you could hide it from Lord Sundan?"
"I only follow the orders of Lord Marvia," Hal muttered. "Stanford, you're just mercenaries hired by the lord to help. This isn't where you should be."
"Haha..." Stanford took a step forward, his face filled with a mocking smirk.
"The task Lord Sundan gave us isn't just to exterminate aberrations. We're also here to investigate the recent incidents in Black City."
"Hal, what do you think will happen if I spread the word that you found a City of Forgotten Souls and didn't report it?"
"What consequences?"
"Whoosh!" The city guards raised their swords and spears, and the mercenaries gripped their weapons.
The atmosphere in the pit suddenly became tense.
"Stanford, you filthy, lowly half-elf!" Hal's lips twitched as he glared at Stanford. "Are you threatening me?"
"Hal!"
Stanford pushed through the crowd, and his small body burst forth with a terrifying aura that seemed to expand in all directions.
"Do you want to die?"
The two men stared at each other, and the situation was on the brink of erupting.
Stanford, born into a serf family and with half-elf heritage, could not tolerate being insulted by others.
"Forget it."
After a tense standoff, Hal's eyes flickered, and he chose to back down, lowering his voice, "I didn't intend to hide the news. I just wanted to understand the situation before reporting it."
"Hmph!"
Stanford scoffed, "Understand the situation?"
"What situation? Are you trying to see how many valuable things are inside the City of Forgotten Souls so you can keep them for yourself?"
"Money?" Hal sneered, "You're still the same, only caring about money. This city might hold the secrets of a deity."
"That's not something money can measure!"
"Heh..." Stanford shrugged, "Then how about this? After we enter the City of Forgotten Souls, the money is mine, and everything else is yours."
"But, shouldn't you introduce the situation first?"
"What about the Titans that escaped? We lost many brothers to them."
"Titans?" Hal pondered for a moment, then said, "Like the Holy Knights, they are guardians by the side of the Moon Goddess, protecting the City of Forgotten Souls."
"Each City of Forgotten Souls has a group of corrupted Titans. In their lives, some were spearmen, some were swordsmen, and very rarely, there were also instructors."
"It's said that during the time of the Moon Goddess, only those with exceptional talent were qualified to become guardians, learning the heritage bestowed by the goddess. Although time has eroded what they possess, there might still be valuable things left behind."
"Hmm..." Stanford rested his chin on his hand, "Even their armor has turned to ash. What could possibly remain? I wonder if gold can withstand the corrosion of time?"
"Maybe." Hal turned around, "Since you're interested in this place, why don't you guard it for a few days?"
"Commander?"
Lieutenant Bernard's forehead was covered in sweat, "What should we do now?"
The shadow of the City of Forgotten Souls was about to disperse, and the benefits they had in their grasp were suddenly challenged.
How could they not feel anxious?
"What should we do?" Hal asked in a low voice after moving away from the crowd. "Have the secret passages in Pit Three been discovered?"
"No!" Bernard hurriedly replied, "The passages are well-hidden, and we haven't revealed their existence. They don't know about them yet."
"That's good.
(End of Chapter 58)
"Hal heaved a sigh of relief,"
"Proceed as usual on this side, and speed up on the other. We must enter the City of Forgotten Souls before Stanford."
"Yes, sir!"
Bernard nodded heavily in agreement.
On the other side:
"Commander."
A mercenary spoke in a low voice, "After we go in, are we really only taking the gold?"
"What else?" Stanford sneered.
"The secrets of the deity are not something we commoners can touch. I won't follow that fool Hal to his death."
"Yes, sir!"
The subordinates affirmed.
Divine Realm Shard.
Karl held a black 'iron plate' in his hand, examining it closely.
This object was a 'relic' left behind by the giant golem.
The golem's armor had all corroded into ash, yet this item remained intact, indicating it was no ordinary artifact.
Strangely enough,
Black City had also seen giant golems, but they only knew how to kill and couldn't speak, and they left nothing behind after death.
The golem Karl encountered was an aberration.
It had been shouting, "Teach, train, guard, duty..."
Could it have been a leader? The iron plate in Karl's hand was seven inches long, three inches wide, and about half an inch thick. It didn't feel like iron, and had a cool, wooden texture.
6◇9◇Book◇Bar
Both sides of the plate had patterns.
On one side, a human-like figure was carved in a seated position with intricate patterns and surrounded by intricate writing.
The other side depicted the sun, moon, stars, mountains, and rivers, reminiscent of traditional Chinese ink paintings.
Similarly,
The image was also surrounded by writing.
The tiny characters were densely packed, and even when held close to the eyes, one had to look carefully to discern them. After careful examination, Karl was overjoyed.
"Breathing technique!"
"And a high-quality one at that!"
How high was it? Karl wasn't sure.
But it was definitely higher than the Poison Wolf Breathing Technique he was currently practicing, and by a significant margin.
The Poison Wolf Breathing Technique was a relatively common breathing technique, capable of making one a knight, but it was difficult to progress further. Its only advantage was enhancing the practitioner's perception of danger.
This breathing technique, apart from making one a knight, also provided the path to becoming a great knight and even a legendary knight.
"Legendary Knight!"
Karl muttered to himself,
"Such powerful individuals are only born within the royal family, a few select individuals, and the inner circle of the church in the Kingdom of Gando."
"Giant Golem Breathing Technique!"
This was the name of the breathing technique inscribed on the iron plate.
According to the text on the plate, practicing the 'Giant Golem Breathing Technique' could grant one the strength of ancient giants, although this was likely an exaggeration.
"I wonder if it's still possible to cultivate it?"
After all,
The plate stated that cultivating this technique required not only sufficient talent but also the blessing of the Moon Goddess.
Hmm...
The Moon Goddess had long perished, so where would the blessing come from?
"Let's give it a try!"
There was no harm in trying, and this breathing technique didn't require any special elixirs for cultivation. It could even be practiced by non-humans.
It was all-inclusive!
Following the images on the 'iron plate', Karl sat cross-legged on the ground, controlling the flow of energy within his body with each breath.
With the foundation of the Poison Wolf Breathing Technique and the support of the Divine Realm Shard, which allowed him to perfectly control every part of his body, learning a new breathing technique was not difficult.
Even if the technique was extremely complex, it was only a matter of time.
Time passed slowly.
At one moment,
"Swoosh!"
The 'iron plate' on the ground seemed to sense something, suddenly standing upright and floating towards Karl's forehead.
When it made contact with his skin,
"Buzz..."
Karl's body trembled, and a faint voice resonated within his mind.
It was like a soft whisper in his ear.
Like an echo carried by the breeze.
...
Faint,
Yet clear.
"Bless you, my follower."
The voice was hollow and empty, like the last words of a dying person, filled with anticipation. As the voice sounded, a warm current emanated from the iron plate.
