Chapter 58: Sleeve-Hidden Blade – How Will You Respond?
Chapter 58: Sleeve-Hidden Blade – How Will You Respond?
As Wei Jie finished speaking, his figure blurred into a streak of shadow, chasing after Su Chen’s fleeing form.
His speed was astonishing – a gust tearing through mountain forests, sending flowers and grasses into wild sways. He quickly closed the distance between them.
“Yang Guo, do you really think you can escape?” Wei Jie flickered to Su Chen’s front, his voice icy.
“I’m not Yang Guo!” Su Chen retorted. Though still one-armed, he’d changed his attire.
“Heh, stop pretending,” Wei Jie sneered, eyes narrowing. “If I’m not mistaken, ‘Yang Guo’ isn’t even your real name, is it?”
Su Chen remained silent, his eyes darting as he calculated escape routes.
Seeing this, Wei Jie chuckled bitterly. “Trying to run? You might’ve had a chance if you hadn’t been spotted. Now? You’re trapped.”
“I have one question,” Su Chen suddenly said instead of answering.
“What?” Wei Jie frowned.
“Why do you talk so much?”
Before the words faded, Su Chen exploded into motion – not fleeing, but charging straight at Wei Jie.
“Fool!”
Wei Jie’s eyes flashed coldly. His body erupted forward, tilting sharply when three meters from Su Chen. He slammed both palms into the ground, his horizontal body recoiling like a bowstring as he shot toward Su Chen. His legs moved like lightning, thunderous in their speed.
Ripples of force burst outward, battering eardrums and blurring onlookers’ vision.
As Wei Jie’s legs neared, Su Chen sidestepped – but those limbs twisted unnaturally mid-air, tracking him like hounds. His feet became deadly weapons, his hands shifting positions with predatory precision, eyes locked unblinkingly on Su Chen.
Finding evasion impossible, Su Chen met the assault head-on.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The rapid impacts sounded like war drums.
Wei Jie’s leg techniques weren’t just fast – they carried bone-shattering power. Su Chen faced such skill for the first time; those legs moved with twice the dexterity of ordinary arms. A single kick could kill a normal opponent instantly.
“This Yang Guo… he must’ve nearly perfected Strength Cultivation.”
As they clashed, Wei Jie marveled inwardly. Though initially flustered, Su Chen soon adapted, growing more fluid and even dominant. Most shockingly, he’d blocked a full-power kick – a strike that could shatter a Martial Cultivator’s defenses.
Suddenly, Wei Jie’s eyes sharpened. A smirk tugged his lips as he noticed Su Chen retreating half a step – as if spotting a feigned opening. Then, from Su Chen’s sleeve, an unexpected arm emerged.
A metallic ring rang out. Darkness flashed before Wei Jie’s eyes as a shadow streaked past. Cold light glinted off steel, sending chills down his spine.
“Hmph?”
Wei Jie struck outward, flipping his body sideways. One foot targeted Su Chen’s arm, the other kicked at the Steel Saber – both moves simultaneous.
Bang!
Buzz!
Su Chen’s hidden fist smashed into Wei Jie’s leg, the collision erupting with explosive force. At the same moment, Wei Jie’s other foot slammed into the saber’s side, making it vibrate violently.
The shockwave sent both combatants reeling backward.
Su Chen felt the saber tremble violently in his grip, his arm quivering from the impact. He steeled himself, channeling immense force to steady the weapon. Looking up, he found Wei Jie smirking.
“Such underhanded tricks won’t work on me!” Wei Jie scoffed.
He’d long known of Su Chen’s hidden ace – and now confirmed its reputation. Fortunately, he’d prepared accordingly. Even without foreknowledge, he could’ve reacted in time – perhaps taking injury, but nothing fatal.
Without replying, Su Chen drove the Steel Saber into the ground.
Wei Jie’s pupils constricted briefly before he laughed. “Without that blade, what’ll you fight me with?”
He launched his attack immediately. At three meters distance, his legs became thunderbolts.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The two clashed violently again, their battle raging through the surrounding grove, uprooting plants and splintering trees.
“Time to end this!”
After a fierce exchange, Wei Jie advanced instead of retreating, his form ghostlike as he intensified his assault. This time, Vital Force surged around his legs, bursting forth like a dam breaking when they met Su Chen’s defenses.
Su Chen responded by unleashing the Dual Force from his arms. The collision of energies exceeded expectations.
A thunderous boom split the air, followed by a deafening crack as both fighters were hurled backward.
"What overwhelming Vital Force!"
"What overwhelming Vital Force!"
Su Chen’s force was ruthlessly overbearing – the Dual Force, though small in quantity, carried terrifying destructive power. Wei Jie’s force was overwhelmingly vast, its sheer volume dwarfing Su Chen’s by multiples. Yet neither gained the upper hand.
They stood motionless, staring across the battlefield. Then Su Chen struck first, his figure blurring forward. The residual Vital Force Wei Jie had injected into him dissipated instantly, like droplets in the ocean.
Wei Jie, however, adopted a defensive stance against Su Chen’s assault, retreating step by step under the pressure. But this disadvantage didn’t last long.
After several exchanges, a smile returned to Wei Jie’s face – he’d neutralized Su Chen’s force. As he prepared to counterattack, Su Chen’s expression suddenly turned icy. A cold gleam flashed before Wei Jie’s eyes, and his spine went cold.
“No!”
He realized too late – another blade had been hidden within Su Chen’s sleeve. The first strike of the Sleeve-Hidden Blade pierced Wei Jie’s defenses like starlight, shattering his calm composure.
Wei Jie tried retreating, but Su Chen’s long-prepared killing move wouldn’t allow escape. As the blade neared his head, Wei Jie’s face contorted with madness.
Slicing through the air – Su Chen’s pupils contracted, horror flashing in his eyes.
At the spurt of blood, an arm flew skyward before crashing down.
“Ahh!”
