Chapter 58: Mutual Harm Will Not Do
Chapter 58: Mutual Harm Will Not Do
"Finally..."
"I've finally finished!" Obito couldn't help but cheer as he completed the last problem of his assignment.
After more than ten days of hard work, he had finally finished the set of problems. Starting today, he no longer had to spend every day solving them.
"What do you mean, 'finally'? Uchiha Obito, what are you shouting about? Get up and answer the question!" shouted Chikuma Yurui, startled by Obito's outburst.
However, to his surprise, Obito answered correctly, and Chikuma could only nod and let him sit down to pay attention to the lesson.
"Rin, let's go out and play tonight!" Obito said with a mischievous smile as he sat down.
"Tonight? Tomorrow's Saturday. Why don't we go out tomorrow instead?" asked Nohara Rin.
"Huh? Is it the weekend again already?" Obito asked, his eyes widening in shock.
He had just finished the set of problems, and now it was already time to receive the next set for the weekend.
"Obito, have you been studying too hard lately? Today is already Friday," Nohara Rin teased.
She had noticed his recent efforts and saw that he was truly different from before.
"Finally, it's the weekend. It feels like the school days drag on forever, and the weekends just fly by," Obito said.
"Yeah, those long vacations between semesters feel shorter than a five-day school week," his classmate added.
Obito: ...
The joys and sorrows of humans were not shared by all, and he only found their noise annoying.
He felt like his time from Monday to Friday had been stolen, and every time he became conscious, it was already Friday close to dismissal, followed by an extremely long weekend.
"Rin, let's still go out tonight. Tomorrow, I need to cultivate, and I might not have much energy in the evening," Obito said wearily.
With the end-of-term exam approaching, the weekend training would be even more challenging than before.
Previously, when he fought Might Guy, he could still use the forest terrain to his advantage. Later, when they were moved to a vast plain, it all came down to speed and movement techniques.
So Obito decided to spend the evening with Nohara Rin; the Friday training was still relatively relaxed.
"Alright, then. Let's go today. After school, I'll eat and then find you, and we can go look for Kakashi together," Nohara Rin nodded.
Obito wanted to ask why they needed Kakashi, but after opening his mouth, he closed it without asking.
"Maybe she thinks no one wants to play with Kakashi, so she's bringing him along," Obito thought to himself.
After school, Obito, as usual, went to the cultivation site, and as always, he was the last to arrive.
Just like before, he started with various physical exercises—push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and more.
After exercising for a while, it was time for the battle.
"I'm going to change the battle rules today," Mu Yue said, calling Might Guy and Obito together.
"Each time you hit your opponent, they get two extra questions, and you get to reduce one from your own. The battle will last for seven minutes."
"Two extra questions for each hit, and still seven minutes?" Obito repeated, imagining a mountain of scrolls rushing towards him.
Previously, one hit resulted in only one extra question, and they only fought for five minutes. This was like a super-charged upgrade!
The only benefit was that hitting your opponent could reduce your own questions, and if you landed enough hits, you might not have to answer any questions at all.
The problem was that he had been at a disadvantage in the previous battles!
He was grateful for his foresight in asking Nohara Rin to play tonight.
With this intensity, the weekend would undoubtedly be exhausting, and it would take several days to recover.
"Sharingan, Sharingan," Obito muttered to himself, longing to unlock the Uchiha clan's bloodline limit.
"Teacher Mu Yue, what about the initial fifty questions we start with?" Obito asked.
In order to maintain balance, I can't remove it completely for now, as Might Guy's physical prowess far surpasses Deidara's."
Although the number of questions wasn't completely eliminated, Might Guy was still happy that at least ten had been taken away.
"Moreover, you can offset the questions by training. A maximum of sixty percent of the questions can be offset, with three hundred push-ups counting as one question. Other exercises also apply," Mu Yue added.
With each hit resulting in two extra questions, Mu Yue decided to use exercise as a way to counter the potential explosion of questions.
After all, the original intention of the questions was to enhance their learning and acquire more knowledge, rather than purely as a punitive measure.
Those questions were meant to be taught by her, not just completed and forgotten.
"Offset sixty percent," Deidara's eyes lit up at these words, but he felt overwhelmed again when he heard that three hundred push-ups were needed for one question.
"Three hundred for one question? Hahaha!" Might Guy burst into laughter, thinking that he would definitely max out that sixty percent.
As he looked at the wildly laughing Might Guy, Obito, inspired by his calm, said:
"Teacher Mu Yue, this doesn't seem right. The point of offsetting questions with exercise should be to encourage better training, right? So it should be based on individual cultivation progress, not a fixed number."
He didn't want to be the only one doing a ton of questions.
"What you said makes sense, Deidara. Then, Guy, you can offset one question with a thousand push-ups," Mu Yue thought about it and agreed.
Might Guy looked at Deidara with a questioning expression, his smile freezing on his face.
"Guy, I know you want to get even better training, right? You're welcome," Deidara smiled and gave Might Guy a thumbs up.
"Well, Deidara, I know you also yearn for a battle where you can go all out," Might Guy began stretching his legs, preparing to fight with a hundred and twenty percent of his serious effort.
After seven minutes, the battle ended.
"Deidara has a hundred questions, and Guy has twenty," Mu Yue announced the results.
"Deidara, I know you want to have more questions to learn from, right? You're welcome," Might Guy flashed his brilliant white teeth and gave a thumbs up.
Deidara suddenly felt like slapping himself from seven minutes ago. What was he thinking? Now, it was a case of mutual harm.
There were simply too many questions to finish in one day, so he could only offset some through training and spread out the rest.
Since Nohara Rin had suggested looking for Kakashi together, Deidara asked Might Guy if he wanted to join them.
After all, it wasn't just a date between him and Nohara Rin anymore, and Might Guy was also close friends with Kakashi.
What Deidara didn't expect was that Might Guy refused, saying that he had already made plans to go night running with Itachi.
However, they still met in the evening. While they were playing, they ran into Itachi and Might Guy, who were out for their run.
"Itachi, trust me, try wearing this type of spandex for your next training session. It's perfect for exercising," Might Guy tried to sell Itachi on the green spandex he was wearing.
Itachi looked at Might Guy striking a pose and imagined himself in that green spandex. He quickly shook his head in refusal; it was just too bizarre.
"Who's that next to Guy?" Kakashi asked, noticing the unfamiliar figure beside his fellow jonin.
"He's our Uchiha genius, someone even more talented than you," Deidara said with a smirk.
"Oh? Does that make you the Uchiha failure, then?" Kakashi replied nonchalantly.
