Chapter 58: Human Cannon
Chapter 58: Human Cannon
"That’s a... gemstone?"
Gille squinted, puzzled, as he watched the gemstone in Su Nan’s hand from a distance. But he quickly brushed his doubts aside.
No matter how powerful a wizard might be, they still couldn’t hold a candle to Sir Hodge. Even with that strange beast on his side, Su Nan stood no chance against Sir Hodge.
From the moment Su Nan appeared here, his fate was sealed. Surrender or die—those were the only options.
Young people these days are just too arrogant, Gille thought. They always think they’re invincible, without realizing how vast and unforgiving the world truly is.
"You’ve got some luck," Gille turned to Owen, a sly grin spreading across his face. "Once Su Nan is dead, the morale of the Blackstone City army will plummet. You might just get the chance to strike back hard."
"Indeed, Envoy!" Owen’s expression was equally excited. Eliminating Su Nan wouldn’t solve all their problems immediately, but it would at least give them a much-needed breather. There was a real possibility they could turn the tide and reclaim the Shining Fief!
The thought made Owen’s heart race. He couldn’t take his eyes off the battle in the courtyard, eagerly hoping that Hodge would finish Su Nan off in the next second.
The battle, which had paused briefly, erupted once more. As Hodge had boasted, the Hidden Dragon’s invisibility was almost useless against him. Every time the beast transitioned from its ethereal form to solid form, Hodge instantly detected its position and effortlessly blocked the attacks, leaving several charred wounds on the Hidden Dragon.
"The Hidden Dragon is still a bit outmatched against a Legendary Knight," Su Nan mused to himself. "It would need to fully convert its bloodline to that of a pseudodragon to stand a chance."
However, with the Hidden Dragon diverting most of Hodge’s attention, Su Nan’s situation became much more manageable. He casually tossed a rune gem into the air.
Boom!
The gemstone exploded mid-air, transforming into countless writhing lightning serpents that rained down on Hodge from all directions!
The overwhelming force made Hodge’s face pale. He quickly retreated, swinging his sword to unleash a wave of fiery sword energy above his head.
Crack!
Despite his quick reaction and the fiery sword energy neutralizing most of the lightning, Hodge was still hit by the remaining bolts. He stiffened for a moment, his body’s aura fluctuating wildly.
"What kind of attack is this?!" Hodge’s face turned ashen.
The power of that strike was far greater than anything Su Nan had thrown at him before. Even with his dual defenses of fire elemental power and aura, he had been injured!
But Hodge had no time to dwell on it. As Su Nan threw another rune gem, a second wave of attacks descended.
This time, it was a barrage of pitch-black, shadowy beams.
Shadow Erosion!
Before Hodge could react, he was hit dead-on. He felt a chill run through his body, as if an invisible shackle had bound him, slowing his movements significantly. Even his control over his aura and energy particles felt rusty and sluggish.
From a distance, Su Nan threw three more gems.
Following the lightning and shadows, flames, frost, and gales swept out, overwhelming Hodge in a relentless assault!
Facing a Legendary Knight, Su Nan held nothing back, transforming into a human cannon, continuously hurling rune gems one after another. In just a few breaths, he had already used over twenty gems.
Hodge was completely overwhelmed.
He felt as if he were being attacked by multiple Legendary Knights, with different elemental attacks coming at him from all directions! The relentless barrage left him no time to absorb energy particles to recover, and the aura of his martial arts quickly shattered under the relentless assault.
After enduring several waves of attacks with his flesh and blood, Hodge was covered in frost, gashes from wind blades, and burns from lightning. He looked utterly disheveled, a far cry from the confident and determined warrior he had been moments ago.
"Damn it!"
Since becoming a Legendary Knight, when had Hodge ever been this helpless? Fueled by intense anger, he mustered all his strength and charged at Su Nan, braving the onslaught of lightning and frost with a fierce and unstoppable momentum.
Then he saw Su Nan open his palm, revealing six glowing rune gems.
"!!!"
Hodge had never felt such a strong urge to curse in his life!
How many more gems did this damned kid have? Unfortunately, he would never know the answer.
In the next instant, a torrent of elemental attacks engulfed him!
Boom!
A violent shockwave radiated outward from Hodge's position, sending stones and debris flying in all directions.
Even Gille and Owen, who were far away, were pushed back several steps by the force of the blast, the flying debris stinging their faces.
But at that moment, they had no time to think about anything else. They stared in disbelief at the courtyard, their mouths agape in shock.
How did this happen?
Just a moment ago, Hodge had the upper hand. How did he end up in such a dire state at the hands of Su Nan?
How could this be?
The wind dispersed the smoke, revealing the scene in the courtyard.
Hodge lay motionless on the ground, covered in frost and burn marks, his lifeless body a stark contrast to the chaos around him.
Su Nan looked at the corpse with a hint of regret.
A Legendary Knight's soul could be used to create a small soul crystal, but he currently lacked the ability to extract souls from corpses.
What a waste!
Turning his gaze to Gille and Owen, Su Nan saw the two men flinch and retreat a step, their faces pale with terror.
"Sir Su Nan, we can still talk, Lord Goldenrock—"
Gille stammered, his face a mask of fear, all traces of his earlier confidence and arrogance gone.
But Su Nan had no intention of wasting words. A flash of lightning sprang from his fingertips, and a bolt of electricity pierced Gille's forehead.
The envoy's eyes widened in fear and despair as he collapsed to the ground.
Owen was terrified, his heart pounding as he fell to his knees, pleading for mercy:
"Su Nan, please spare me. I don't want the title anymore, I'll return it to you. Just spare my life, please."
Before he could finish, Su Nan cast a sleep spell, and Owen collapsed into unconsciousness.
"Killing you outright would be too easy. The place you truly belong is the execution ground."
Turning his attention to the city gates, Su Nan patted the head of the Hidden Dragon, which had approached him.
"Go, break down the city gates and welcome my brothers into the city."
The Hidden Dragon let out a roar and disappeared in a flash.
Moments later, a loud boom echoed from the city gates, followed by a cacophony of battle cries.
