Chapter 578: Purifying the Land
Chapter 578: Purifying the Land
"Did Hammer also succeed in negotiating the iron mine trade?"
Lin Sai's face lit up with joy.
The attribute panel never lies.
He clicked on the corresponding branch description and found a small introduction under the caravan information, which listed the formula for converting food and iron ore.
"The mine shaft needs food, and from now on, the caravans can bring food and exchange it for an equivalent amount of iron ore," Lin Sai murmured as he retraced his steps back towards the Bug Canyon from the mine shaft.
The opening of the first trade route also sparked more ideas in his mind.
"The scarcity of resources in the Desolate Land makes food a precious commodity in this world."
"If we want to continue developing and increase food production in the farmland, it should be our top priority."
"This is undoubtedly the most stable currency at the moment."
"As for future development... we'll need to rebuild the economic system within the territory. But for now, the gold mined should be prioritized for minting Gold Coins to construct all the basic buildings."
Lin Sai turned back, heading towards the entrance of the mine shaft, which he had established on a mountain path beside the canyon.
From there, he took a turn and, after just a few steps, found himself back in the foggy Bug Canyon.
Lin Sai descended into the canyon, following the edge of the cave.
Along the way, he occasionally encountered members of the Insect Tribe, who greeted him with respect.
After this period of treatment, many of the healed Bug Folk had taken the initiative to share their experiences, which quickly improved the humans' reputation.
"Lord Lin Sai, you're back?"
As Lin Sai made his way underground, he soon found Tie Yu in a dry cave, ready to take a rest.
After the period of medical treatment, the Insect Tribe had arranged a dedicated living space for them, even considering human living habits by providing lit torches for illumination.
Lin Sai acknowledged Tie Yu, and the young Awakener began to report on the day's work:
"Lord Lin Sai, another batch of Bug Folk has completed the cleansing of Corruption Toxin, but the potions we brought are almost depleted."
"In three days, after the next batch of treatment is finished, the potions will be completely exhausted. If we bring the same amount of potions next time, we will need about three more trips to complete the treatment for all the Bug Folk here."
"You've done well," Lin Sai praised, then asked, "Tie Yu, do you have any ideas about the cleansing of Corruption Toxin in other parts of the canyon?"
At this question, Tie Yu's expression became serious:
"Regarding plants, I do have some ideas."
"The current potion dosage can be further diluted and used to irrigate the vegetation in the canyon."
"Similar to the method used for the Bug Folk, as long as we find the balance between killing the plants and cleansing the Corruption Toxin, we can restore the vegetation here to normal."
As Tie Yu finished speaking, his voice became hesitant:
"It's just... the land."
"The knowledge I acquired at the medical station is only for treating life forms; I don't have any means to treat the land."
Lin Sai waved his hand dismissively:
"Don't worry about purifying the land just yet."
"I've been thinking about it these past few days, and I'll give it a try soon..."
As Lin Sai and Tie Yu discussed, two sets of footsteps, one fast and the other slow, echoed through the cave tunnel.
Vivian and the Azure Lamentor appeared together.
Tie Yu's focus on treatment had been impeccable.
Vivian was also aware of the reason why Lindsey had brought her to the Bug Canyon.
And so, upon arriving, the child eagerly interacted with the Bug Folk. Now, she could even distinguish the physical characteristics of most of the Bug Tribe.
Under the premise of cross-racial communication, this was already an impressive achievement.
The Lamentor approached Lindsey and struck up a conversation:
"Lord Lindsey, I heard that you're leaving in three days. So, when will you be back next time...?"
The leader of the Insect Tribe seemed deeply concerned.
After several treatments, the need to eradicate the plague within the tribe had become a consensus among the race.
Even if a prejudiced individual were to take over, it would be difficult to resist the overwhelming public opinion.
Lindsey nodded in response:
"That's right. We can only prepare the potions when we return, and the journey back and forth takes time."
"But rest assured, the interval will definitely not exceed two weeks."
The Lamentor was eager to please:
"Lord Lindsey, I also heard that you're building a mountain tunnel. Our tribe members who have been cured of the plague are fully capable of leaving here and going out. Perhaps we can help with this?"
Lindsey smiled:
"The tunnel excavation just finished today."
"As for help—if possible, can you mine some minerals for me? I need to dig for gold at the end of the tunnel."
The Lamentor didn't hesitate and readily agreed:
"Of course! We are willing to provide any assistance!"
Seeing that the matter was settled, Lindsey also planned to end the conversation.
However, before parting ways, he suddenly remembered another detail.
The Desolate Land had long lost its monetary system, let alone these short-lived Bug Folk!
Lindsey asked:
"Do you know what gold looks like?"
The Lamentor replied awkwardly:
"I've never seen it."
"..."
Lindsey thought for a moment and decided to sacrifice one of his gold coins.
He took out a gold coin from his bag and, with exaggerated strength, crushed it into an irregular lump of particles.
Using these materials, Lindsey began a demonstration:
"Gold ore is a golden substance."
"Some are purer, similar to these particles, while others are mixed with stones or soil, but the essence remains unchanged..."
After a period of explanation, the Lamentor remembered the knowledge about gold mines.
He also took the crushed gold as samples to teach other Bug Folk.
The Insect Tribe was already skilled at digging underground tunnels, so they didn't need Lindsey's help in this regard.
The two casually discussed the details, and the matter was settled.
"Lord Lindsey, it's getting late. I'll take my leave first."
The Lamentor was aware of human habits and prepared to leave.
But as he turned to leave, Lindsey stopped him:
"Wait a moment, I have something else."
The Lamentor turned back and saw Lindsey taking out a golden mineral from behind, emitting a strange aura.
Lindsey continued:
"While excavating towards the gold mine, I found something."
"This should have some effect on the corruption poison in the earth."
"Let's not delay. Take me to the center of this canyon and let's install it there."
