Chapter 575: The One Pursued by the True Spirit King
Chapter 575: The One Pursued by the True Spirit King
"The three great True Spirit Kings?"
Xue Ji was intrigued. This was the first time he had heard about the three great True Spirit Kings in the Unchanging Land, and from Xue Mo's reaction, they seemed to be extraordinarily powerful.
"Please, enlighten me about these three great True Spirit Kings."
Xue Ji cleared his throat, eager for more information. With his occasional ability to send messages to his disciple, Su Lingxiu, he knew that knowledge was power. This could be his chance to make a significant contribution.
Xue Mo remained silent and continued on their journey, their caution heightened.
"Xue Ji, let's come to an agreement. I'll continue to take the lead for now. Once we understand the intentions of these True Spirits, I'll yield control back to you. How does that sound?"
"No!"
Xue Ji refused and even began to exert control over his half of their shared body.
"Are you trying to get us killed?" Xue Mo's anger surged. "We don't know what we're dealing with, and your inexperience could lead to our demise. One wrong move, and we're as good as dead. This is no joke. I promise that once this matter is resolved, our shared existence will be yours to control again."
"Then tell me, what's so special about these True Spirit Kings?"
Xue Ji stopped attempting to control their body and asked curiously.
Xue Mo sighed in resignation. He was aware that every now and then, Xue Ji would use soul techniques to communicate, and he couldn't prevent it.
Thus, he was reluctant to divulge too much to Xue Ji, but it was clear that without sharing information about the True Spirit Kings, he wouldn't agree to his proposal.
"Very well, I'll tell you. In this Unchanging Land, there exist three ancient True Spirits. No one, not even the Unchanging Lord, knows how many eons they have existed. These three True Spirit Kings possess immense power, and unlike other True Spirits, they have awakened their spiritual intelligence and command the True Spirit Art..."
After introducing the True Spirit Kings, Xue Mo continued solemnly, "The Unchanging True Spirits lack spiritual intelligence, but beasts are driven by their instincts and desires. Within their bloodlines lies knowledge of the three great True Spirit Kings. Only the commands of these kings can make the unintelligent True Spirits consciously seek something."
Having gotten the answers he desired, Xue Ji stopped trying to control their body and smiled, "Alright, you can lead for a few more days. After all, we share this body, and our survival is of utmost importance."
Xue Mo seethed with resentment. This was his body, and his power! A momentary greed, thinking he could rise up and challenge the Unchanging Lord, had led him to this predicament.
"If we want to understand what these True Spirits are searching for, we must find a True Spirit at the Heaven and Earth level. Only then can we gain the information we seek!"
Xue Mo increased their speed, tracking Wu Mo's trail while also searching for a Heaven and Earth-level True Spirit.
Along the way, they encountered True Spirits who would pause and observe them, as if confirming if they were the object of their search.
"It seems these True Spirits are seeking a human-shaped life form, perhaps Wu Mo?"
Xue Mo speculated, deep in thought.
Boom!
In a certain location within the Unchanging Land, atop a mountain, Wu Mo exuded ferocious power. He had just slain a Heaven and Earth-level True Spirit and was in the process of devouring it. Suddenly, he turned his head, letting out a cold huff before continuing to devour and flee.
"Once I refine this True Spirit, your end will come!"
Having been pursued relentlessly, Wu Mo's heart was filled with murderous intent. Now that his injuries had healed significantly, devouring and refining this True Spirit would restore him to his peak condition.
After a long recovery, he was finally regaining his full strength.
"Unchanging Temple, mark my words! As long as I draw breath, your end is inevitable!"
Wu Mo was confident. All he needed was time to cultivate, and as long as he survived, he would surpass even the Unchanging Lord!
"Breaking through above the Heaven and Earth level is within my grasp, Wu Mo!"
With cold determination, Wu Mo glanced back, his pursuers now far behind. He knew it wouldn't be long before he shook them off for good.
Suddenly, Wu Mo's eyebrows furrowed as he noticed a small group of True Spirits running past. "Something is amiss!"
These True Spirits had been running swiftly, but when they caught sight of him, they abruptly stopped and stared at him for an extended moment before continuing on their way.
"These True Spirits... it's as if they're searching for something. Could the Unchanging Temple be using True Spirits to track my whereabouts?"
Wu Mo's heart sank as he considered the implications.
If the Unchanging Temple could mobilize True Spirits to hunt him down, he wouldn't be able to hide for long. Eventually, they would find him, and the most terrifying prospect was being surrounded and killed!
Wu Mo continued his escape, his aura growing stronger by the moment as his injuries healed completely. With his strength returning, his confidence soared.
Aside from the Unchanging Lord, he feared no one in the Unchanging Temple!
Boom!
Suddenly, several True Spirits at the Realm Lord level appeared in his path, stopping a short distance away to stare at him intently before turning and moving on.
The text has been enhanced for a better reading experience:
"You're not looking for me?"
Wu Mo's brows furrowed. These Non-Conforming Spirit Beings, devoid of consciousness, seemed to be searching for something, as if they were following a command. He had never encountered such a phenomenon before.
"Could the Non-Conforming Temple possess such abilities?"
Wu Mo's heart raced with surprise. Before the great war, powerful entities from the Non-Conforming Temple could command the Spirit Beings to ravage the heavens and earth. But imparting orders and having them independently execute those commands were two vastly different concepts.
"Has some momentous event occurred in the Land of Non-Conformity?"
Wu Mo's curiosity grew. He decided to capture one of these Spirit Beings to uncover what they were searching for and what had prompted their unusual behavior!
"My wounds have finally healed completely!"
Wu Mo, still in hiding, paused atop a mountain, feeling a sense of relief. His severe injuries had mended, and his strength had returned to its peak.
However, this was still insufficient. With his current power, he couldn't stand against the Non-Conforming Temple, so he needed to continue evading their pursuit and cultivate further. Only by surpassing the level of the Lord of Heaven and Earth would he have the confidence to confront them.
"The Land of Non-Conformity is growing more turbulent. There's an increasing number of Spirit Being Lords, and they seem to be gathering from all over the land. Could they be converging here because of the Great Wilderness?"
As he fled, Wu Mo noticed the escalating abnormality in the Land of Non-Conformity. The Non-Conforming Spirit Beings were in a frenzy, seemingly searching for something. Even Spirit Being races that were usually hostile to each other passed by without conflict, each continuing on their respective paths.
All signs indicated that these Spirit Beings were operating under orders, carrying out a specific mission. What kind of powerful entity could command these mindless Spirit Beings to consciously perform tasks?
"Unless there's a King of Spirit Beings, but does the Land of Non-Conformity have a monarch who rules over all Spirit Beings?"
Wu Mo's brows knitted in deep thought.
In a tribe of Spirit Beings, only their king could command them. But this time, the unrest involved not just one tribe but all the Spirit Beings.
This led Wu Mo to suspect that among the countless Spirit Beings in the Land of Non-Conformity, there might exist a sovereign who ruled over all of them!
"Capture a Spirit Being at the level of a Lord of Heaven and Earth to gather information!"
With his injuries healed and strength restored, Wu Mo felt a sense of relief. The pressing feeling of being pursued had faded. As for the ordinary Lords of Heaven and Earth from the Non-Conforming Temple, they no longer posed a threat now that his strength had recovered.
Finally, Wu Mo encountered a Spirit Being at the level of a Lord of Heaven and Earth. This Spirit Being halted, staring at Wu Mo as if assessing whether he was the target of their search.
Wu Mo didn't make a preemptive move. Instead, he allowed the Spirit Being to scrutinize him, as he, too, wanted to know if he was the one they sought!
The Spirit Being examined him for a long while before turning to leave, seemingly having concluded that he wasn't the target. It was at this moment that Wu Mo struck.
When it came to dealing with Spirit Beings and extracting information, Wu Mo was experienced. This wasn't something new to him; he had done it numerous times before the creation of the heavens and earth.
Roar!
The Spirit Being roared, expressing its anger. But despite being at the level of a Lord of Heaven and Earth, its strength was no match for Wu Mo's.
The battle was brief, and Wu Mo succeeded in obtaining the target these Spirit Beings were seeking from the consciousness of his opponent.
"Who is this?"
Wu Mo examined the person the Spirit Being was searching for, a simulation projected from its mind, and was astonished.
The person appeared young and handsome.
"A human from the Great Wilderness? So, the Land of Non-Conformity truly has a King of Spirit Beings. How did this person anger the King?"
Wu Mo was shocked as he received information about the King of Spirit Beings from the captured being. This Spirit Being's bloodline carried an undeniable command.
"The three ancient Kings of Spirit Beings."
Wu Mo's expression turned solemn. They had roamed the Land of Non-Conformity and even created the heavens and earth without ever knowing of these three ancient monarchs.
Before they awakened their consciousness, they, too, had been considered Spirit Beings. However, their bloodline held no knowledge or legacy of these three great kings.
Ao Hong, the Spirit Being who had become the Lord of Spirit Beings, also had no information about these three monarchs. The fact that none of the followers who had transformed into Spirit Beings of Heaven and Earth knew of them indicated that something was amiss.
"Could it be that upon awakening our consciousness, the legacy of the Kings of Spirit Beings in our bloodline vanished?"
Wu Mo speculated thoughtfully.
"To anger a King of Spirit Beings and have them send their subjects in search of him... This young man is extraordinary!"
Wu Mo couldn't help but admire the exceptional nature of this handsome youth.
"He's here?"
The Warlock spun around abruptly, and indeed, a figure was speeding toward him in hot pursuit. It was the Master of the World from the Unchanging Temple.
A sinister smile spread across the Warlock's face as he said, "And I thought this was the extent of the power you had to offer!"
Boom!
Instead of running away, the Warlock charged straight at his pursuer, blocking any possible escape routes. He was determined not to let his prey get away.
"Who is this guy?"
Blood Devil had finally found the target of the True Spirits' search and stared at the simulated image in astonishment.
"He's incredible!" Blood Extreme exclaimed. "No wonder he's the disciple of the Founder. Just by entering the Unchanging Land, he's caused a stir among the True Spirits. His power is off the charts!"
"Do you know him?" Blood Devil asked, furrowing his brow.
"His name is Xu Yan, the Sword God and the first disciple of the Founder!" Blood Extreme praised, then added, "Blood Devil, if you ever come across him, you must show respect. Otherwise, you might meet your end!"
"What's his power level?" Blood Devil inquired, his voice deep and serious.
"He must be incredibly strong," Blood Extreme replied. "Look at how all these True Spirits are after him. They're acting on orders from the True Spirit Kings, and if he weren't powerful, do you think he could anger them so?"
Blood Devil had to admit that this made sense. After all, it was the first time they had seen the True Spirits of the Unchanging Land create such a fuss, and it was hard to imagine that someone weak could cause such a disturbance.
"If you offend a True Spirit King, even the Jade Court might not be able to protect you!" Blood Devil said with a cold smile.
"The Jade Court is one thing, but the Founder is on another level entirely. I've told you time and again that the Founder is supreme and cannot be compared to underlings of the Jade Court," Blood Extreme corrected him.
As a disciple of the Founder, he felt it was his duty to uphold his master's glory.
"Hmph!" Blood Devil snorted, convinced that this so-called Founder was connected to the Jade Court in some way.
Suddenly, a loud rumble echoed in the distance.
"A battle between Masters of the World," Blood Devil remarked as he made his way toward the source of the commotion. As he drew closer, his eyebrows furrowed, and he said, "It's the Warlock, fighting the pursuer from the Unchanging Temple. We've found him!"
"Are you really going to kill the Warlock?" Blood Extreme asked, sounding surprised.
"The mission given by the Divine Master is not to be taken lightly," Blood Devil replied, avoiding a direct answer.
Boom!
A burst of bloody light erupted from his body, and in an instant, terrifying waves of blood surged and rolled around him.
"All these True Spirits are after me, and I never thought the True Spirit Kings would go to such lengths," the Warlock said, slashing and killing another True Spirit in a different location. "No wonder they're so revered; they truly are ancient and powerful beings."
Any True Spirit that encountered the Warlock met its end, so the Crimson Lion King was unable to track him down.
"Xu Yan, be careful. The True Spirit Kings are incredibly powerful," Ming Yu's voice echoed from within the turtle shell.
"Ming Yu, has something else occurred to you?" Xu Yan asked curiously.
It seemed that Ming Yu's thoughts were becoming more and more active, and he was regaining some of his lost memories.
"I recall the Crimson Lion King once had his sights set on the Jade Court," Ming Yu said, tilting his head in thought. "Although the encounter was brief, it was extremely terrifying."
"It's a minor issue. Once we return to the Great Wilderness, all threats will be eliminated," Xu Yan asserted confidently.
Although they seemed to have attracted some powerful enemies, in the eyes of his master, these foes were nothing but insignificant insects and posed no real threat.
Boom!
"A battle between Masters of the World, this should be interesting. Let's take a look," Xu Yan said as he suddenly turned his attention to a particular direction. The sounds of a fierce battle echoed through the air, and without hesitation, he made his way toward it.
Whoosh! A beam of jade-white light shot through the air, and to Xu Yan's surprise, it was one of the Jade Court's puppets. It, too, seemed to be heading toward the battle but changed course upon spotting Xu Yan, rushing toward him with murderous intent.
"Have all the puppets received the message?" Xu Yan's eyebrows furrowed as he realized that the attacking puppet was not one of the eight that had been pursuing him. It must have been on a different mission for the Jade Court and, upon receiving the message to kill him, had immediately changed its target.
Boom!
Xu Yan lifted his hand, and with his sword, he summoned the heavens, trapping the puppet within. Then, with a palm strike to the puppet's head, he activated his divine ability, "Heaven's Will, Seal the Soul."
Boom!
The puppet's head reverberated with a dull thud, and to Xu Yan's surprise, his ability had no effect on the puppet's consciousness. He quickly realized that the puppet's consciousness and thoughts were generated by some kind of doll-path rule, unlike the normal consciousness of living beings.
Since he couldn't control the puppet, Xu Yan opted to erase its consciousness instead. Without a conscious mind to direct its actions, the puppet became an empty shell, powerful but devoid of any will.
