Chapter 574: So Similar!
Chapter 574: So Similar!
Zhao Cheng Lei had a good eye for style, and Jiang Xia liked the shoes at first glance. She asked the sales clerk to fetch her size and tried them on. They looked great on her feet, and she imagined how well they would go with a coat when the weather cooled down a bit more.
So, she bought them.
Gu Yue: "..."
For over sixty dollars, she tried them on and bought them without hesitation!
Jiang Xia paid for the shoes, then went to buy six pounds of yarn. She glanced at her watch. "It’s eleven o’clock. Let’s go home!"
They had been out for almost two hours, and she was worried the children might wake up and be hungry.
"Okay."
So, they left the mall.
As they walked out, Dong Yan and Gu Yue were also leaving.
A car was parked at the mall entrance, and the mother and daughter got in and drove away.
Jiang Xia and the others walked back home.
The car passed by them.
From inside the car, Dong Yan couldn’t help but look at Jiang Xia’s face again.
Twenty minutes later, the car pulled into a compound.
As soon as she got home, Dong Yan went straight to her husband’s study. She took out an old book from the bottom shelf of the bookcase, opened it, and a black-and-white photo fell to the floor.
Dong Yan picked it up.
So similar!
Too similar!
She crouched on the floor, staring at the photo for a long time. She didn’t know how long she had been there until she heard Gu Yue calling out to her father.
Quickly, she tucked the photo back into the book and returned it to the bookcase. Just as she was about to stand up, she realized her legs were numb.
Gu Heng walked into the study and saw his wife tidying his desk, placing a family photo in its proper spot.
Dong Yan smiled. "You’re back?"
Gu Heng: "Yes, I can handle the cleaning. No need for you to help."
"I’ll just dust it off a bit."
Gu Heng didn’t say anything more.
"I’ll go check if dinner is ready."
"Okay."
Dong Yan walked out, but her legs were still numb, making her gait a bit stiff.
Gu Heng noticed and asked, "What’s wrong with your feet?"
"Nothing, I walked too much with Yue Yue today."
Gu Heng didn’t suspect anything. His wife and daughter always spent a long time shopping.
After she left, Gu Heng closed the door, put a document in the safe, and then went to eat.
During dinner, Gu Heng asked his daughter, "Did you and your mother buy anything today?"
Dong Yan: "No, Yue Yue liked a pair of leather shoes and a new down jacket, but I couldn’t bring myself to buy them for her."
Gu Yue pouted. "Some woman bought the shoes! I saw her buy four down jackets and a pair of leather shoes. She spent over six hundred dollars in no time at all!"
Dong Yan glanced at her husband. "I wonder whose child she is, so wealthy."
Whose child? Gu Heng didn’t approve of such extravagant spending.
"Such reckless spending is not good. A down jacket costs more than some people’s monthly salary. Is a cotton coat not warm enough?"
Gu Yue: "But down jackets are warmer!"
Gu Heng: "Even so, one is enough. Why buy four?"
"Dad, I want to buy one too."
"Didn’t you buy one last year?"
Gu Yue: "I don’t like the black one I bought last year. And one isn’t enough for changing. I want a pink one. Dad, I got into Q University. Can you buy it for me as a reward? Mom wouldn’t even consider it!"
"Didn’t you already get a reward?" However, Gu Heng still doted on his daughter. "You can only buy one more. You have enough clothes already!"
"Thank you, Dad! Can you give me a hundred dollars? I’ll buy it when I have the chance."
Her mother only allowed her to spend a hundred dollars, no more!
Now, with her father giving her another hundred dollars, she could buy the leather shoes, the down jacket, and even an autumn dress.
"Dad, can you take me to school for registration tomorrow?"
"Sure."
