Chapter 574: New Threat (Second Update)
Chapter 574: New Threat (Second Update)
Based on the information Jerry gathered during his travels.
The Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is located in the Pyrenees and is not a castle but a large estate with a massive fountain at the entrance.
While the Durmstrang Institute of Magic does have a castle, it is only four stories high, far less impressive and grand than Hogwarts Castle.
In terms of numbers, the total number of witches over seventeen years old at Beauxbatons and Durmstrang is around twelve to thirteen each.
This means that the seventh-year students, and even some sixth-year students who might be seventeen, at these two schools combined amount to roughly the same number of seventh-year students at one of Hogwarts' houses.
From this, we can infer that the total number of witches at these two magic schools combined is likely less than half of Hogwarts.
No wonder the witches from these two schools were so shocked by the size of Hogwarts Castle and the number of students.
Jerry believes that this disparity is partly due to Hogwarts' reputation. Most witches prefer to send their children to Hogwarts.
On the other hand, it is also due to the unique cultures of the other two schools.
Beauxbatons is a co-educational school but prefers to admit female students and has very strict rules, emphasizing etiquette. The headmistress is a half-giant witch, Olympe Maxime, who is taller than Hagrid.
Durmstrang only admits pureblood and half-blood students, refusing those of Muggle birth. The school specializes in Dark Magic and was once the alma mater of the Dark Wizard Grindelwald.
The headmaster is Igor Karkaroff, a Death Eater who betrayed Voldemort after his fall.
"Oh my, they are so beautiful!"
"That's Viktor Krum, the Seeker for the Bulgarian Quidditch team. I can't believe he's still in school!"
As the students from both schools, led by their respective headmasters, approached the Hogwarts witches, exclamations of surprise echoed from the ranks of the Hogwarts students.
For the Beauxbatons group, the astonishment was due to the fact that out of the twelve witches, ten were exceptionally beautiful, especially the one leading them, who exuded a unique charm that made most male witches unable to look away.
For the Durmstrang group, the amazement was focused on their leader, Viktor Krum, the legendary Seeker of the Bulgarian Quidditch team.
Although Bulgaria lost to England in this year's Quidditch World Cup and Krum was outplayed by Jerry, before Jerry's rise, Krum was widely regarded as the best Seeker in the world and an idol to many young Quidditch enthusiasts.
However, the witches from the two schools became even more excited upon hearing the exclamations from the Hogwarts students.
Because they saw, standing in front of the Slytherin ranks, none other than Jerry!
Jerry Carmen, aged fourteen, tall and handsome, the champion Seeker of this year's Quidditch World Cup, who set the record of catching the Golden Snitch within fifteen seconds of its release and created the legendary move known as "Jerry's Ultimate Skill."
In addition, he has published multiple magic books in the past two years, improved and upgraded several advanced spells, and created the most powerful Spatial Charm, the Portkey.
In the eyes of everyone in the witch world, he is the future Dumbledore.
He is also the most revered idol of all young witches.
With his exceptional academic and athletic abilities, and his handsome appearance, who could not love him?
At Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, if not for the tall Madame Maxime standing in front, the group of screaming witches would have already rushed over to swarm Jerry.
It was the same with the young witches from Durmstrang Institute of Magic.
"Hermione, I think you should hurry up, or you'll really be in trouble. Look at that silver-haired witch from Beauxbatons; all the male wizards can't take their eyes off her, and she keeps staring at your Jerry."
Meanwhile, in the Gryffindor section, Lavender, standing behind Hermione, noticed Ron staring intently at the beautiful witch leading the Beauxbatons group. Jealously, she warned Hermione.
Hermione was startled and quickly looked over at the leading Beauxbatons witch. Indeed, her gaze was fiery and had not left Jerry, who was standing in front of Slytherin, alongside several professors.
Fortunately, Hermione noticed that Jerry was not like the other male wizards, whose eyes were fixed on the beautiful Beauxbatons witch. Instead, he was looking at the Thestrals with great interest.
Indeed, Jerry had merely glanced at the students from the two schools and then paid no further attention.
To him, they were all minor characters with low abilities, not worth much consideration.
As for the silver-haired, blue-eyed witch leading the Beauxbatons group, Jerry knew that she was Fleur Delacour, who had one-quarter Veela blood.
She was indeed very beautiful, but the reason she attracted so much attention from male wizards was due to her one-quarter Veela heritage.
Veelas are magical creatures, Bulgaria's mascot, known for their stunning beauty and the mental charm they emit, which drives men to madness.
When angered, they transform into hideous, bird-headed creatures, yet they can still marry humans.
Fleur's attraction to men was due to her one-quarter Veela blood, which allowed her to emit a mental charm.
However, that mental charm had no effect on Jerry.
Not to mention the diluted one-quarter version; even the full charm of a Veela would not affect Jerry in his current state.
So, the Thestrals, which were as large as elephants, were actually more interesting to Jerry than Fleur.
After all, his ring world had not yet produced hippogriffs of such a large size.
After the applause, the three headmasters exchanged pleasantries and then walked together toward the Great Hall on the first floor of the castle.
By this time, the house-elves had outdone themselves, preparing the most sumptuous feast in history on the four long tables.
In addition to the usual dishes, they had added some specialty French cuisine and dishes from the northern regions.
Once all the young witches and wizards were seated, Dumbledore approached the podium:
"The moment has finally arrived. The Triwizard Tournament is about to begin. Before I explain the procedures for this academic year, allow me to introduce two more guests, as some of you may not know them. This is Mr. Barty Crouch, the Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation at the Ministry of Magic.
And this is Mr. Ludo Bagman, the Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports at the Ministry of Magic.
They will join me, Professor Karkaroff, and Madame Maxime to form the judging panel and evaluate the efforts of the champions."
Dumbledore's words were met with a round of applause in the Great Hall.
