Chapter 574: Chi Xiyi, Existing as One
Chapter 574: Chi Xiyi, Existing as One
In the palace adorned with stars and illuminated by the rising and setting of the sun and moon, the Unchanging Lord gazed upon the rivers and mountains beneath his feet and the celestial bodies above. In a trance-like state, he found himself reminiscing about a certain place.
A figure emerged in his mind, a being of exceptional talent and clear distinctions between gratitude and grudges. He sighed, "Tai Cang, you may be able to let go, but I cannot. Those who exiled me shall perish, or else I will have no outlet for my rage. I refuse to accept my banishment, and they shall all die for it. Everything you possess will be mine to use!"
"Tai Cang, oh Tai Cang... Renowned as the greatest pride of the ages, you lived up to your name. But... Ah!"
The Unchanging Lord sighed, but his gaze grew firmer, a hint of fierceness lurking in his eyes.
Suddenly, his expression shifted.
"Dead!"
His eyes narrowed, as if sensing something, and at that moment, a chilling light flashed in his eyes, accompanied by a look of disbelief.
"Sword God Xu Yan? The Great Wilderness World?"
His excitement built up, "Excellent, excellent! I was worried that the Tai Cang World wouldn't be enough to ensure my success, but now another monstrous talent has emerged. Is this your backup plan, Tai Cang? Haha, the Great Wilderness is indeed beneficial for me. The stronger it becomes, the more it will aid my success. Nothing can stop me now!"
His eyes narrowed with determination, "Whether it's the Jade Court or the Three Great Spirit Kings, dare to thwart my plans, and I shall show no mercy! I will kill you all!"
"Hahaha, yes! This is what I want! I love the prideful, the monstrous talents! The more, the better! Hahaha, just you wait, I will return, and those who exiled me shall tremble before me!"
The Unchanging Lord burst into maniacal laughter.
Then, he raised his hand, and a strand of aura appeared at his fingertip, transmitting a message. After sending the message, he continued to gaze at the celestial bodies above the palace.
In a certain location within the Unchanging Lands, on a massive peak, lay a colossal spirit beast. With each breath, it seemed to stir up a storm. Surrounding the peak were dozens of other spirit beasts, each of a different species, yet all possessing the might of a Lord of the Heavens, and among them, the very peak of that level.
These spirit beasts lay obediently, and with each breath of the giant spirit beast on the peak, the surging spiritual storm would cause their bodies to tremble. It was evident that they held utmost reverence for the beast on the summit.
Chi Xiyi, the king of these beasts, had lived for an immeasurable span of time. He no longer sought conflict or desired to expand his territory. Instead, he preferred to laze upon this peak and sleep.
The Unchanging Lands were boundless, and despite his longevity, Chi Xiyi had not explored every corner of it. He had lost the desire to venture and had given up on the idea of ever leaving the Unchanging Lands.
The only thing that could capture his attention was the beam of light that appeared during the opening of each era.
There were two other beasts like him, and they had all grown familiar with each other. They had clashed in the past, but as time went on, their desire for conflict faded, especially after they attained sentience. Each clash would be brief, never escalating to a life-or-death struggle.
Now, they didn't even have the inclination to compete. On the rare occasions they met, they would merely nod and greet each other, with no thoughts of territorial disputes.
After all, the Unchanging Lands were vast and infinite, rendering such disputes unnecessary.
Moreover, they only encountered each other by coincidence after long periods, and aside from the other two beasts, there was also a jade-white courtyard, exquisite in its beauty. Chi Xiyi had once desired to occupy it but ultimately chose to let it be.
Within the Jade Court resided an existence of unparalleled power, and the outcome of a confrontation would be uncertain. It wasn't worth taking such a risk.
In addition to the Jade Court, he had also come across a grand temple housing powerful beings. However, no conflicts had arisen between them.
With each new era, they would engage in subtle competitions, even if they didn't directly involve themselves, their subordinates would carry out tasks to assert their dominance.
Chi Xiyi was aware of the temple's schemes, and he had heard rumors that someone had once created their own world within the Unchanging Lands, but by the time the news reached him, that world had already been devoured by the temple.
He had never seen what a world looked like, but he had heard tales of their breathtaking beauty. Occasionally, he would encounter spirits who had witnessed such worlds, and their longing for those places was palpable, yet they were forbidden from entering.
By the time Chi Xiyi heard these stories, the world in question had already ceased to exist. As the next era approached, he began to wander closer to the region where the world had once appeared, curious if the other two beasts and the Jade Court would do the same.
The Vermillion Lion King lay comfortably on a mountain peak, his mind filled with thoughts of the world and wondering what color the light would be when the next epoch began.
In his memory, nothing could surpass the beauty of the light that signaled the start of a new epoch.
It was as if, in the ever-changing Unformed Land, this was the only breathtaking sight to behold. Though fleeting, it left an indelible impression that would forever be etched in one's mind.
Even the True Spirits, devoid of spiritual wisdom, would forever remember the light upon seeing it. They would carry this memory until their deaths and beyond; some True Spirits' mountains, after their demise, shone with a radiance that reflected their remembrance of that light.
Suddenly, the Vermillion Lion King opened his eyes and let out an angry roar.
"Roar!"
The terrifying roar shook the Unformed Land, causing the multitude of True Spirits to tremble in fear. Their eyes revealed their terror as they looked towards the Vermillion Lion King, who had risen from his perch on the mountain peak.
"My son has been killed! How dare they kill my son!"
The Vermillion Lion King was filled with rage. Among his many sons, Vermillion Minor was his favorite and the one with the highest spiritual wisdom. As such, he had doted on him and granted him a unique power.
The purpose of bestowing this power was to enable Vermillion Minor to awe and rule over the myriad of True Spirits. Even before his strength reached the level of a Master of the World, the mere presence of this power allowed him to command True Spirits of that caliber.
Now, his son was dead!
The Vermillion Lion King's fury knew no bounds, and his powerful aura erupted, stirring up a storm in the Unformed Land.
"Who killed my son?"
The Vermillion Lion King's eyes blazed with a crimson hue. Vermillion Minor had been strong, and as his son, he carried the king's aura, which no True Spirit would dare offend, let alone kill.
"Was it the Temple or the Jade Court?"
The Vermillion Lion King snorted, sending forth a cloud of crimson smoke. His mane, like flames, swayed as he exuded a formidable aura that stirred up a storm of spiritual energy. The True Spirits surrounding the mountain peaks cowered in fear, lowering their heads and daring not to breathe too loudly for fear of incurring the king's wrath.
The other two True Spirit Kings would not have been the culprits, as they too had descendants. There was an unspoken understanding among them that even if provoked, they would only chastise each other as elders and would never take a life.
Thus, the murderer was most likely from the Temple or the Jade Court. In that moment, the Vermillion Lion King's heart burned with fury, and he began to manipulate the True Spirit secret art, using the blood connection to search for the culprit.
At that moment, a message came through the bloodline from Vermillion Minor, just before his death.
"Sword God Xu Yan?!?"
The Vermillion Lion King's eyes turned icy, and he roared in anger, "Damnation!"
Roar!
The ferocity of his rage scared a few True Spirits so much that they wet themselves.
"Father, why are you angry?"
In the distance, a Vermillion Lion, noticeably smaller in size than the king, came running. His voice carried a hint of dullness as he asked his question.
This was one of the Vermillion Lion King's sons, who had awakened his spiritual wisdom but lacked the same level of intelligence as Vermillion Minor. However, his strength was not to be underestimated, surpassing even that of Vermillion Minor.
After all, this Vermillion Lion had lived longer and was more powerful.
"Vermillion Eighteen, your brother has been killed!"
The Vermillion Lion King spoke through gritted teeth, his anger palpable.
"What? Who dares to kill my brother?"
Vermillion Eighteen's face showed his shock.
The Vermillion Lion King's sons were named in order of their birth, with Vermillion Minor being the youngest and his favorite, hence the name. This particular son was the eighteenth, thus earning him the name Vermillion Eighteen.
"Sword God Xu Yan. Pass on my order to find him. I will swallow him whole!"
The Vermillion Lion King roared with fury.
"Yes, Father!"
Vermillion Eighteen hurriedly nodded and then rushed off to convey the Vermillion Lion King's command.
"Go, find Sword God Xu Yan for me!"
The Vermillion Lion King turned to the True Spirits surrounding him and commanded, and a radiant light appeared, forming a vague image of Xu Yan.
Roar! Roar!
The multitude of True Spirits let out their own roars and dashed into the ever-changing Unformed Land, spreading the Vermillion Lion King's command. Though the True Spirits lacked spiritual wisdom, they had their ways of communicating information among themselves.
The vast group of True Spirits began to stir, especially those with strength above the Realm Lord level, as they could understand the transmitted information more clearly. The message was clear: find a man!
The Vermillion Lion King was an ancient and formidable True Spirit, having ruled over the True Spirits for an extended period. To most True Spirits, his supremacy was an indisputable fact passed down through the generations via bloodline.
Now, an order had come from this bloodline ruler, and the True Spirits naturally obeyed without question.
In a remote area of the Unformed Land, Blood Demon walked with a somber expression.
"Hehe, tomorrow is the day I take control of this body. Having immense power is such a wonderful feeling!"
Within Blood Devil's body, Blood Extreme's voice echoed.
"Shut up! It's my turn now, so don't interfere!" Blood Devil snapped angrily.
After a fierce struggle and lengthy negotiations, the two had finally reached a temporary agreement to share the body and its power, taking turns every three days.
For Blood Devil, this was extremely frustrating. It was his body and power, and now he had to share it with someone else!
On the other hand, Blood Extreme was thrilled. Although he had not succeeded in replacing Blood Devil, he had not failed either. One could say he had succeeded halfway, and with time, there might still be a chance to replace Blood Devil entirely.
As for whether Blood Devil was plotting something, Blood Extreme didn't care. As long as he didn't seek help from Lord No-Change, he was confident that he wouldn't be expelled.
"Won't you get bored being alone? Since we share this body, let's communicate more and develop a better relationship," Blood Extreme suggested with a sneaky laugh.
"Are you going to look for Witch Demon?" Blood Devil asked, his face cold. He had once thought that he could rise to power, rapidly increase his strength, and eventually dethrone Lord No-Change, forcing him to kneel and acknowledge Blood Devil as the new master.
But now, he had been completely fooled!
It was time to carry out Lord No-Change's task. Otherwise, if the Lord found out that he hadn't gone after Witch Demon, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"You're not planning to save Witch Demon, are you?" Blood Devil asked coldly.
"Hehe, Witch Demon is your big brother's close friend, and you're going to kill him? Does this mean your brother really betrayed Lord No-Change?" Blood Extreme asked, now privy to more information.
"You were once a follower of my big brother. What are you up to now? Don't think I don't know that you once sided with the Temple and were then killed!" Blood Devil said, his face darkening.
Blood Extreme chuckled. "I don't deny it. I was deceived by your Temple, and in the end, I had no choice but to go along with it. I couldn't control myself, so I was suppressed."
"You're the one with the traitorous thoughts..."
"Shut up!" Blood Devil roared, his anger reaching a boiling point. "Do you want to die? You must seal away these thoughts. If Lord No-Change senses them, you will suffer a terrible death!"
Blood Extreme clicked his tongue, realizing how deeply afraid Blood Devil was of Lord No-Change.
"What's there to be afraid of? If you submit to the Dao Ancestor, what can Lord No-Change do to you?" Blood Extreme asked nonchalantly.
"Hmph, you can't even begin to imagine Lord No-Change's strength. As for that Dao Ancestor, he probably came from Jade Court, and their strength is nothing compared to the Temple," Blood Devil scoffed.
Having been tricked once, Blood Devil would not fall for Blood Extreme's lies again. In his eyes, Lord No-Change's power was nearly invincible.
"Did your big brother, Ming Yu, really betray Lord No-Change?" Blood Extreme asked again.
Blood Devil's face remained grim as he quickened his pace, searching for Witch Demon's trail.
"If you don't answer, then it's as good as admitting he betrayed him. So, did Tai Cang lose because your brother stabbed him in the back?" Blood Extreme asked, his tone filled with disdain for Ming Yu.
"You're talking nonsense!" Blood Devil replied angrily, but then sighed. "My brother is still alive because I begged Lord No-Change for mercy. But he had to pay a price for his survival."
"What price?" Blood Extreme asked, his curiosity piqued.
Blood Devil remained silent, letting Blood Extreme rant without offering any response.
"How boring!" Blood Extreme shook his head and stopped asking.
"Something's not right!"
Suddenly, a loud roar echoed from a distance, and they saw a True Spirit flying by. However, it paused for a while in the distance, staring at Blood Devil for a long time before continuing on its way.
"What's going on?" Blood Extreme asked, confused, as he couldn't see anything amiss.
"These True Spirits are acting strangely!" Blood Devil said gravely.
"How so?" Blood Extreme still couldn't detect anything unusual but didn't doubt Blood Devil's judgment. After all, Blood Devil was one of the elders of the No-Change Temple and had been wandering the No-Change Lands with them, gaining far more experience and knowledge than Blood Extreme.
"These True Spirits seem to be searching for something!" Blood Devil frowned, "Only the three True Spirit Kings could make the True Spirits search for something consciously. Could there be some major event happening in the No-Change Lands, or are they targeting the Temple?"
