Chapter 573: My Name is Wu Gu, and I Cannot Bear to See Impurity Before Me
Chapter 573: My Name is Wu Gu, and I Cannot Bear to See Impurity Before Me
Everyone turned their heads in anger and saw the speaker.
He stood less than five feet tall, and while he wasn't a dwarf, he was most certainly a short man. His head was large, and his hair was messy and unkempt. His thick eyebrows almost met in the middle, and while his left eye sparkled with cunning, his right eye seemed lifeless and dull. His beard was thick and unruly, like a patch of wild grass, but it was his arms that drew everyone's attention.
His right arm was missing from the shoulder down, but his left arm was exceptionally long and thick. It hung by his side, reaching past his knees and nearly touching his toes. In ancient times, Liu Bei was said to have arms that reached his knees, but this man's arms were even longer.
There was only one person in the Jianghu with such a distinctive appearance.
The One-Armed Eagle King, Sikong Shu!
However, Lian Chengbi only glanced at him before shifting his gaze to the man standing beside Sikong Shu.
White beard, white hair, and a simple dress. He had a slight hunchback, but his sharp eyes belied his otherwise unremarkable appearance. He held a long pipe that was about a foot long, and his steady hand suggested he was no ordinary man.
There were many who fit this description, but only one with the surname Tu.
The Hero of Guandong, Tu Xiaotian!
The One-Armed Eagle King was famous for his solo conquest of Tian Shan Mountain and his single-handed destruction of the Eight Bandits. However, he had been active outside the border recently. As for the Hero of Guandong, his name spoke for itself. Though known as "The Number One Pressure Point Master in the World," he hadn't left Guandong in over a decade.
Who would have thought that these two men would appear together in Suzhou Prefecture?
But Lian Chengbi was not surprised. Tu Xiaotian was a member of the Tianzong, and it was only natural that he would be among the group of over ten Tianzong members who had appeared in Lanzhou and followed them to Suzhou.
As for Sikong Shu, his seniority and formidable martial arts skills made him arrogant and aloof. It wasn't impossible that Tu Xiaotian had somehow convinced him to come along.
For instance, right now...
Hearing Sikong Shu's arrogant words, Tu Xiaotian's eyes flickered, and he said in a low voice, "Senior Sikong, these four have clean garments and an air of nobility. They are likely famous figures from Central Plains, so it is best not to offend them."
Sikong Shu raised his eyebrows and smiled, "How famous are they? Can they compare to my fame?"
Tu Xiaotian smiled politely, "Senior's heroic name spreads far and wide, renowned throughout the land. Of course, they cannot compare to you."
"Then it's settled," Sikong Shu said. "I didn't say I wanted to sleep with them. I just want them to accompany me for a drink and a chat. Would that be too much to ask?"
Sikong Shu laughed heartily and began to walk towards the four women. His strange eye roamed up and down Feng Siniang and Shen Bijun, revealing his admiration and a hint of astonishment.
He was a famous and accomplished martial artist who had traveled throughout the Central Plains and beyond. He had seen countless beautiful women, but the two women before him were unparalleled in terms of appearance, figure, and charm.
A strange smile appeared on Sikong Shu's lips.
Then he noticed a young man with a gentle and honest appearance standing up and blocking his view. The young man cupped his fists and asked, "Junior Yang Kaitai, may I ask if you are the famous One-Armed Eagle King, Senior Sikong?"
Sikong Shu's eyebrows twitched, "The Iron Gentleman, Yang Kaitai?"
"Indeed, it is me, your junior," Yang Kaitai replied calmly.
However, Yang Kaitai's reputation did not intimidate Sikong Shu, and instead, he seized the opportunity to assert his seniority.
"I heard you are the disciple of Iron Monk? What a coincidence. I was a friend of Iron Monk's master, Master Fasheng. Since you are Master Fasheng's grandson disciple, that makes you my junior as well," Sikong Shu said with a smile.
Yang Kaitai froze in his tracks.
"Since you are my junior, come and have a drink with me. Introduce your friends to me as well.
"Indeed, it is I, your junior," Yang Kaitai replied calmly, despite the tension in the air.
But Sikong Shu was undeterred by Yang Kaitai's fame and seized the opportunity to assert his seniority. "So, you are the disciple of the Iron Monk? What a coincidence. I happened to be a friend of your master's teacher, Master Fasheng. That makes you my junior as well." He smiled, his tone laced with arrogance.
Yang Kaitai froze, unsure how to respond to this unexpected turn of events.
"Since you are my junior, come and have a drink with me. Introduce your friends as well," Sikong Shu continued, his voice carrying a hint of command.
Before Yang Kaitai could respond, a calm and gentle voice cut through the tension. "You were staring at my wife quite rudely just now." Lian Chengbi, the handsome and elegant young man, spoke without raising his voice, his eyes first meeting those of Tu Xiaotian and then shifting to Sikong Shu. "Considering your status as a senior in the Jianghu, I will give you a chance to apologize and leave. Otherwise, don't blame me for severing your other arm, leaving you wingless, so to speak."
Tu Xiaotian's eyes widened slightly at the bold threat, but he maintained his composure.
Sikong Shu, on the other hand, burst into loud laughter, his eyes sparkling with a mixture of amusement and cruelty. "Hahaha! It's been a long time since someone dared to speak to me like that! You know who I am, yet you still have the guts to talk back. Impressive!"
Lian Chengbi nodded, his expression unreadable. "So, you refuse to apologize?"
"You dare to be disrespectful to me?" Sikong Shu's smile turned sinister. "I'll twist your neck for that! And then, I'll have my way with your woman!"
When the One-Armed Eagle King threatened to twist someone's neck, it was usually the last thing they heard.
But Lian Chengbi simply smiled in response and stood up, his sword at the ready. "I've been waiting for you to say that."
Sikong Shu's reputation preceded him—he had a volatile temper, an overinflated ego, and an impressive list of both evil and righteous friends in the Jianghu. He had even managed to outshine the three chivalrous heroes, Tu Xiaotian, Zhao Wuji, and Hailingzi, during their escort mission for the Lu Knife.
Lian Chengbi's reputation would have been questioned had he not taken a stand against someone of Sikong Shu's stature. Now, there would be no doubt about his actions.
As Lian Chengbi drew his sword and stood, Sikong Shu let out a series of eerie laughs. He wasn't foolish; he understood the underlying message in Lian Chengbi's words. However, he didn't care about this young man who appeared as delicate as a pretty boy.
"So, you're the one they call the 'Untainted Noble of the Wu Li Mountain Villa'? The so-called 'Martial Arts Prodigy' Lian Chengbi?" Sikong Shu's eyes narrowed as he sized up his opponent.
Lian Chengbi lifted his left hand, the sword glinting in the light, and replied, "My name is Lian Chengbi. I cannot bear to see impurity before me. If it exists, I will erase it."
