Chapter 570: The Delivery
Chapter 570: The Delivery
In a secluded area of the Lower City, Guan Xiaohui and Zhen Ping had arrived at the designated pickup location. To avoid any mishaps, they had set off early and were now waiting patiently.
Fortunately, the Resistance Organization had chosen this spot carefully—a remote and hidden location where the Sun Vines and their derivative organisms had been almost entirely destroyed. The residents of the Lower City still relied on light for their daily lives, and the darkness could conceal potential enemies and dangerous creatures, making it an unlikely place for anyone to venture.

Guan Xiaohui acknowledged with a hum.
A few minutes later, just before the agreed time, they heard the sound of two-wheeled motor vehicles approaching from a distance. Around the corner, a blinding light appeared, and three two-wheeled motor vehicles drove into view, forming a triangular formation.
Zhen Ping instructed Guan Xiaohui to stay put while she went to greet them.
Two of the vehicles stopped at a distance, while one drove closer. The driver could be seen with a thick package on the vehicle's rear rack.
The vehicle stopped in front of Zhen Ping and asked, "Is this your package?"
"Yes, it is," Zhen Ping confirmed.
The driver got off the vehicle, went to the back, and retrieved the package, along with a receipt, which he handed to her.
Zhen Ping took the package, signed the receipt, and returned it to the driver. Only then did she take possession of the package.
The driver glanced at the receipt, then swiftly returned to the vehicle. After a brief exchange, the engine roared to life, and the driver joined the other two vehicles, quickly departing the area.
Zhen Ping examined the package in her hands. To prevent the spread of the biome field, the package was tightly sealed, making it impossible for her to inspect its contents.
In truth, she wasn't entirely sure if the organization had entrusted them with the delivery of the actual split-body.
She walked back to Guan Xiaohui and handed her the package, "Xiaohui, take a look. Is this it?"
Guan Xiaohui replied, "I'll check." According to the organization, after undergoing the implantation surgery, she should be able to sense the split-body's field at close range, even if it was isolated.
She extended her hand and touched the package. Initially, she felt nothing, but after a while, a powerful field resonance emerged, and in that instant, she felt her field reception ability suddenly amplify. All sorts of field information flooded in, including faint signals from the organisms themselves.
The implant on the back of her neck grew warm, and her heartbeat and blood flow accelerated. Following the training instructions, she adjusted her perception, filtering out many irrelevant field signals. She took a few breaths, then said, "Yes, it's this one."
"That's good."
Zhen Ping felt a sense of relief, but it was short-lived as a wave of tension rose within her. The organization entrusting them with such an important delivery weighed heavily on her mind.
She explained, "Group Leader Yu said we need to deliver the package to a member of the upper organization named Xiang. He's reportedly from headquarters, and once we hand it over to him, our mission will be complete."
Guan Xiaohui's eyes lit up, "I've never met anyone from headquarters before."
"Indeed, now that we have the package, let's not delay. Let's get going."
Zhen Ping quickly walked to the two-wheeled motor vehicle parked nearby, straddled it, and Guan Xiaohui sat behind her.
Zhen Ping checked the map provided by Group Leader Yu, started the vehicle, and they sped off into the distance amidst the engine's roar.
After about twenty minutes, they arrived at a blocked-off tunnel. Zhen Ping slowed down, got off the vehicle, and approached the entrance to examine the markings. "This is the place," she confirmed.
She stepped forward, clearing away the haphazardly piled stones and debris. As she moved them, numerous large insects scurried out, but she paid them no mind.
Guan Xiaohui efficiently lit an incense stick and waved it left and right, causing the insects to scatter like a receding tide.
Once the area was cleared, a rusted grating door was revealed behind the debris. Zhen Ping grasped it with both hands, twisted with force, and the grating door contorted and deformed, eventually giving way as she pulled it open.
They tossed the door aside and proceeded, and after a few steps, they heard the sound of flowing water. Zhen Ping consulted the map and said, "Xiaohui, this is the place. We just need to follow the direction of the water flow to get out."
Having confirmed their location, they quickly changed into waterproof suits and entered the water. After a short distance of about ten meters, Guan Xiaohui seemed to sense something and grabbed Zhen Ping, "Sister Zhen, wait. There's someone behind us, about a kilometer away. They're moving fast."
Zhen Ping immediately suppressed her aura, signaling to Guan Xiaohui, who nodded in response. They quickly swam back to the shore and hid in the tunnel they had used earlier.
Behind them, Che Gaoyi and Number Nine were swimming across the water, and as they passed by the tunnel entrance used by Zhen Ping and Guan Xiaohui, Che Gaoyi seemed to sense something and glanced in that direction.
He noticed wet footprints on the ground, indicating that someone had recently passed through.
After staring for a moment, he averted his gaze and continued forward.
His primary task was to escort the Split Body, and as long as they didn't attack him, he wouldn't bother with them. Judging by the wet footprints, there were only two people, and they didn't seem very skilled, posing little threat to him. So, he didn't pay them much attention.
Guan Xiaohui and Zhen Ping waited for Che Gaoyi and Number Nine to pass by before cautiously emerging from their hiding place.
Both of them heaved a sigh of relief, but Guan Xiaohui's face paled slightly. The field information from the two individuals had given her a strong sense of oppression, even from a distance.
Concerned, Guan Xiaohui said, "Zhen Jie, those two who just passed by seemed really powerful. Should we wait a bit longer before leaving?"
Zhen Ping thought for a moment and replied, "No need. They're much faster than us, so we'll just follow behind. Xiaohui, can you detect the situation around us in advance?"
Guan Xiaohui nodded.
Through the Split Body in her hand, she maintained the use of the Implant, allowing her to keep a watchful eye within a one-kilometer radius.
Zhen Ping said, "Then we can react in advance. Let's go, and we'll be extra careful."
"Okay," Guan Xiaohui agreed, following her back into the water and keeping an eye on the two individuals ahead while carefully moving behind them.
Above this underground river, Chen Chuan sat in an armored vehicle, navigating through the winding tunnels.
At this moment, Lan Shen Nan spoke up, "The road below us leads to an underground waterway. Both paths can take us to the outskirts. The underground river is for emergency use and can get us outside faster than this route."
"However, we don't need to get wet here. It's a bit easier to navigate, but the road ahead was excavated later, so while people can pass, vehicles can't. We'll have to walk for about a kilometer, and then we'll reach the edge of the Central City."
Chen Chuan nodded.
After another ten minutes, the vehicle stopped at a tunnel with a damaged opening.
"This is the place," Lan Shen Nan announced.
Chen Chuan glanced back and said, "Captain Lan, you can go back now. What happens next doesn't concern you."
"Okay," Lan Shen Nan replied, understanding that this was for their own good. Whether it was the Processing Bureau or Allied Heavy Control, they were both formidable entities, and getting involved with them was not a wise move.
She leaned forward and called out to Chen Chuan, who was about to descend, "Chen Ge, be careful."
Chen Chuan nodded at her, then adjusted his protective suit and held the Snow Lady Saber as he headed towards the narrow passage.
Outside the tunnel, Che Gaoyi emerged carrying a suitcase, with Number Nine following a few steps behind.
He looked around and realized they were at the bottom of a slope, surrounded by dense vegetation, and the sunlight was bright.
He could confirm they were outside the Central City, as he couldn't see any flickering rifts or those annoying insects.
Just as he was about to relax, a voice came from above:
"Are you the delivery people? That doesn't make sense. You're not those two girls, are you?"
Che Gaoyi turned to look and saw a man in his thirties standing on a distant tree trunk, hands in his pockets, wearing a short-sleeved shirt with an eye-shaped pattern on the undershirt beneath the open buttons.
The man's hair looked black and stiff, and his expression carried a hint of nonchalance.
He stroked his chin and continued, "Hmm, it's possible you took their stuff. Anyway, since you're from there..." He glanced at the suitcase in Che Gaoyi's hand, "...and you have suspicious items, I can't let you leave so easily."
The moment Che Gaoyi saw this man, he sensed that he was no ordinary person. Without explaining anything, he immediately ordered, "Number Nine, go and deal with him."
Even though they were now outside the Central City, it didn't mean they were completely safe, so he couldn't afford to linger.
Number Nine, upon hearing the command, silently headed towards the man.
Che Gaoyi, on the other hand, sprinted forward with the suitcase. However, after running for over a thousand meters, a figure suddenly appeared in front of him. It was the same man, who lifted his chin and said with a hint of amusement:
"Where are you going?"
Che Gaoyi was startled and looked back, only to see Number Nine embedded in the slope behind him, as if forcibly pushed into it.
He realized he was facing a formidable opponent and cautiously asked, "Who are you?"
"Me?" The man straightened up and patted his chest. "I'm Xiang Tiancheng, an Executive Captain of the Resistance Alliance Front."
