Chapter 57: Just Burning the Forbidden Forest, Dumbledore Should Be Able to Handle It, Right?
Norbert flapped his wings, bent his limbs, and landed abruptly on the ground. Ivan stood proudly on Norbert's back, casting a worried glance at Hagrid before raising his wand to search for the enemy.
"Hagrid, where's the enemy?" Ivan looked around, puzzled.
"Th-they just flew out", Hagrid had tears on his face, stammering as he pointed to the dense forest on the right.
Flew out?
Ivan recalled that when he landed on Norbert, there seemed to be some resistance.
Ivan immediately felt a bit regretful. From the intensity of the collision, Quirrell must have successfully cast a defensive spell, so the chances of him being killed outright were slim.
So, Quirrell is probably still alive?
"Incendio!" Thinking this, Ivan immediately became tense and raised his wand, casting several Fire Spells in the direction Hagrid pointed.
Red flames shot up into the sky, spreading in all directions.
Even so, Ivan still felt it wasn't safe enough. He immediately ordered Norbert to continuously breathe dragon fire in that direction, with as much power as possible, to ensure no one could survive.
Facing Quirrell possessed by Voldemort, Ivan dared not take any chances. He had to finish him off completely.
Norbert unleashed its full strength with enthusiasm, as it loved breathing fire. A few blasts of dragon breath later, a large area of the forest was engulfed in rolling flames.
Hagrid stood there, dumbfounded, unable to speak for a long time.
"Isn't this a bit over the top?" Ivan, illuminated by the fire, fell into deep thought. Was the fire too big? What if it couldn't be extinguished?
Would he be sent to Azkaban for setting the Forbidden Forest on fire? Professor Dumbledore should be able to handle it, right?
Thinking about this, Ivan became a bit angry and kicked Norbert. His well-planned ambush to take out Quirrell in one go was ruined by Norbert's dragon roar.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have needed to use Incendio to finish the job.
Norbert whimpered pitifully. It had finally managed to fly a couple of laps and roar a few times. What was wrong with that?
Ivan ignored Norbert, just gesturing for it to keep watch. He then jumped off Norbert's back and ran quickly to Hagrid.
Fang had already rushed to Hagrid's side as soon as they landed, licking his face with a red tongue, covering it in drool.
"Hagrid, are you okay? I've already sent Harry to notify the professors; they'll be here soon." Ivan leaned in close, carefully examining the wounds on Hagrid's waist and thighs.
Although the wounds looked gruesome and even had some black smoke seeping out, Ivan breathed a sigh of relief. They weren't fatal. Unfortunately, he didn't know the healing spell and couldn't treat Hagrid.
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine. You should go check on Cecilia. It was hit by the Killing Curse to protect me", Hagrid urgently pushed Ivan, urging him to see if there was any hope of saving it.
"Cecilia?" Ivan asked, puzzled.
"That's the name I just gave it. If it weren't for Cecilia, I might have died already." Hagrid choked up, wiping tears from his face with his dusty hands.
After confirming that Hagrid was truly not in serious danger, Ivan nodded and walked toward the dying Unicorn.
As he approached, Ivan was struck by the Unicorn's beauty.
Under the glow of the flames, Cecilia resembled a legendary Pegasus, her body radiating a faint white light. The unique spiral horn stood tall on her forehead, but her abdomen and hind legs were torn by several long wounds, with Azure Blood continuously flowing down.
But Ivan understood that the truly fatal blow was Quirrell's Avada Kedavra. Even with the vast Life Force of a Unicorn, she had reached her limit by now.
Cecilia's bright blue eyes gradually dimmed, revealing a look of sorrow and pain.
Ivan gently stroked her mane, feeling the extraordinary smoothness. All he could do now was offer comfort.
The effects of the Killing Curse were irreversible, which was why it was classified as one of the three Unforgivable Curses. Even someone as powerful as Dumbledore could do nothing about it.
Cecilia slowly closed her eyes under Ivan's soothing touch, her vitality gradually fading away. Ivan sighed and, adhering to the principle of not wasting anything, took a test tube from his pocket and collected the azure blood flowing from the wounds.
Ivan sealed the test tube with a wooden stopper and, looking at the dreamlike azure liquid inside, he spoke to the dead Unicorn.
"Your enemy probably won't live much longer. Rest in peace."
After he spoke, Ivan had the sense that Cecilia's body seemed to have undergone some change, but he couldn't pinpoint what exactly was different.
However, Ivan's words weren't entirely comforting. Quirrell's identity had been exposed, and even if he somehow survived the fire by luck, he would likely be drained of his Life Force by Voldemort due to his severe injuries.
Ivan stood up, carefully storing the test tube containing the Unicorn Blood, and faintly heard a notification from the System. But before he could check it, he saw a tabby cat sprinting from the distant forest at a speed far exceeding that of a human running at full capacity.
Ivan even wondered if he was seeing things; how could a cat run so fast?
Norbert, who was on guard, immediately became alert. With his mouth full of sharp teeth, he growled at the tabby cat but didn't dare attack easily.
The pressure the cat exuded was much greater than what Ivan, as his caretaker, usually felt.
"Norbert, stop! That's not an enemy!" Ivan quickly called Norbert back, recognizing Professor Mcgonagall's Animagus form.
He was just unsure how Mcgonagall had increased her speed after transforming. From his understanding of Animagi in the original story, their transformed forms should have the same attributes as ordinary animals.
As expected, the tabby cat quickly morphed back into Professor Mcgonagall's human form as it reached Hagrid.
"Aguamenti!" As soon as she arrived, Professor Mcgonagall noticed the spreading fire and waved her wand. A massive amount of water was drawn from a distance, forming a serpentine shape in the air and sweeping to the right.
Although the flames were widespread, they were relatively dispersed and lacked direction, so they were quickly extinguished.
Despite this, a large area had been burned to the ground, and it would likely take decades to recover.
They walked silently, their eyes fixed on the ground. Occasionally, a beam of moonlight filtered through the branches above, illuminating patches of silver-blue blood on the fallen leaves.
