Chapter 567: The Wager
Chapter 567: The Wager
After watching the video, Su Yu finally understood how his pitiful doppelganger had met its end.
"Hah!" He sneered, "G2 really went all out, sending a God-tier to hunt down my original body and another to take out my doppelganger. What an honor, indeed!"
Given Su Yu's "generous" nature, the death of his doppelganger was a grudge he was determined to settle.
Revenge against Manina XIII was simple enough; all Su Yu needed to do was to reappear in public and give him a thorough beating.
But exacting revenge on Vitoria seemed a bit more challenging.
Cindy Doppler couldn't help but roll her eyes at Su Yu's predicament.
For centuries, God-tier beings rarely appeared in public, existing only in legends. Now, because of Su Yu, these legendary figures were stepping into the spotlight one by one.
"Su Yu, what do you plan to do from now on?" Cindy Doppler leaned against the wall, asking.
Su Yu paused, recalling the six plans he had set for his journey to Scrul.
The first plan, "Head to the Bak Kingdom and maintain contact with the Anti-Alliance," and the sixth plan, "Acquire materials that can absorb nuclear radiation," were already completed.
The remaining plans involved contacting Chancellor Cao, contacting Zhu Guorui, heading to Dragon Island, and collecting the Blazing Sun Seal and the Lanket Eternal Emblem.
Su Yu didn't intend to tell Cindy Doppler about contacting Chancellor Cao, Zhu Guorui, or heading to Dragon Island. Even as an ally, the fewer people who knew, the safer it was.
However, he could tell her about the Blazing Sun Seal and the Lanket Eternal Emblem.
"Hey, Doppler, do you know where the Lanket Eternal Emblem is?" Su Yu asked.
"The Lanket Eternal Emblem? Let me think." Cindy Doppler looked up, deeply searching her memories.
After about 30 seconds, she snapped her fingers. "I remember! The artifact should be in the Lanket National Museum, in the city of Trenar that you visited. Why, are you interested in it?"
"Yes." Su Yu replied seriously, "I need to get this artifact and return to the Blue Star."
"That might be a bit difficult," Cindy Doppler said, her face showing concern.
"The Lanket National Museum is actually part of Lord Stime's private collection. Not only him, but his six and seven disciples and their descendants also live nearby. Even with your advanced stealth abilities, going there might end badly!"
Su Yu shook his head. "Even if it's difficult, I have to try. If it doesn't work out, I'll find a way to retreat. Doppler, prepare a false identity for me tonight. I'll leave at dawn tomorrow."
"Alright, I see." Hearing Su Yu's determined tone, Cindy Doppler knew she couldn't stop him. She could only say, "Be careful!"
After a few more words, Cindy Doppler left Su Yu's room, her mind heavy with thoughts as she walked toward her office.
Meanwhile, 60 kilometers northwest of the capital city of the Blazing Sun Empire, on Mount Flan, something significant was happening.
At the summit of Mount Flan, there was once a palace where Manina XIII often came to vacation and fish in the volcanic lake at the top.
Just over a month ago, this palace was given to Chancellor Cao by the strongest of Scrul, the God-tier mech pilot Plante.
Chancellor Cao had stayed in the palace for over a month, never leaving. His daily routine involved learning the Scrul language, playing games, and fishing.
Three days ago, Plante arrived at the palace to meet with Chancellor Cao and invited him to fish by the volcanic lake.
After reeling in a precious "Volcanic Redscale," Plante looked at the fish wriggling in his hand and chuckled to Chancellor Cao, "Chancellor Cao, how about we make a bet?"
"Oh?" Chancellor Cao perked up at the suggestion. "What do you want to bet on?"
He had made countless bets throughout his life, but this was the first time he was betting against an alien.
"Since we're betting, let's make it a big one," Plante said, knocking the fish unconscious and storing it in his item space. He then looked at Chancellor Cao with confidence. "Let's bet on Su Yu's life. I bet he will die within five days!"
"Ha! That confident, huh?" Chancellor Cao's expression didn't change. "What are the stakes?"
"The stakes are simple," Plante smiled. "If Su Yu dies within five days, you will agree to help us Skrulls conquer the Blue Star. Of course, Australia can belong to your people, while the rest of the territory will be ours."
"What if Su Yu doesn't die?" Chancellor Cao stared at him intently.
"If Su Yu doesn't die, I'll let you return to the Blue Star. How about it?" Plante said with confidence.
...
Plante was well aware of the effects of the "Blazing Sun Seal," which contained a "Spatial Disruption Spell" specifically designed to counter the Holy Silver Federation's mages. Under its interference, Su Yu wouldn't be able to use spatial magic to escape. Moreover, it was Victoria herself who would be making the move, leaving Su Yu with almost no chance of survival.
Plante's prediction was spot on. If Su Yu really faced Victoria and the "Blazing Sun Seal" combination without War Guardian Link stepping in, he would have almost no chance of surviving.
But Su Yu was lucky to possess the "War God's Feather," an unexpected Skrull artifact.
"Are you serious?" Chancellor Cao looked at him with surprise.
"Of course!"
"This is what you said! I'm in!" Chancellor Cao agreed without a second thought.
He didn't believe Su Yu would die. In his view, Su Yu was a product of the Blue Star's world will, a "Child of Destiny" created in response to the crisis. Such a "Child of Destiny" often carried great fortune and was deeply connected to the entire Blue Star's fate. How could he possibly die easily?
The Blue Star was counting on him to save the world!
Even if Su Yu really died, it would mean the Blue Star's fate was sealed. With only half a year left, the Blue Star's world will couldn't possibly create another "Child of Destiny" to rival Su Yu. Humanity would surely face a devastating defeat in the upcoming war.
In that case, agreeing to the Skrulls' terms to leave a path of retreat for humanity wouldn't be a bad decision.
Thus, he agreed to Plante's bet without hesitation.
Before long, three days had passed.
Plante returned to the palace at Mount Flane, finding Chancellor Cao fishing by the lake.
"Chancellor Cao, having bad luck today? You haven't caught a single fish," Plante pointed at the empty fish bucket beside Cao.
"Maybe the fish haven't woken up yet?" Chancellor Cao stood up from the ground, his mood plummeting as he saw Plante's cheerful expression.
Of course, he remembered the "five-day agreement" with Plante.
Now that Plante was smiling so brightly. Could it be that Su Yu really died?
