Chapter 567: The Thrill of Nighttime Exploration
Chapter 567: The Thrill of Nighttime Exploration
"You must have thought of this beforehand, that's why you didn't want us to tell Dumbledore about it." Fred said, enthusiastically patting Cedric's shoulder next to him. "As Head Boy, you're much smarter than Percy... But next time, you could have made it clearer."
Is that what I was thinking? Cedric felt like they had misunderstood something. He genuinely believed they should gather more evidence before approaching Headmaster Dumbledore.
After all, one was a judge and the other was the headmaster. If they accused them of cheating, no one would believe them.
But seeing the excited expressions on their faces, he ultimately decided not to explain.
Moreover, Cedric also thought their reasoning made sense. With the inside information about the third task, Kyle, who would be the first to enter the maze, would undoubtedly have an advantage over Krum.
So, the three of them exchanged glances and began chattering away, revealing all the news they had just heard.
"Professor Sprout's plants are Devil's Snare, Sneezewort, and Snake Vine, all hidden within the hedges. You must be cautious when you're in the maze."
"There are quite a few magical creatures, but this shouldn't be a problem for you."
"The most dangerous creature is the Acromantula, and it's located on the wrong path. As soon as you see it, you must run; there's no need to waste time..."
The three of them spoke in quick succession, and throughout the entire process, not once did anyone ask for Kyle's opinion.
There were a few times when Kyle was about to say something, but he was interrupted each time.
He had wanted to say that even if Krum had this information, it wouldn't pose much of a threat to him. After all, once they were in the maze, he could easily ask any magical creature for guidance.
But the three of them didn't give him a chance to speak...
It wasn't until half past ten that Fred and George finally left the Hufflepuff common room.
The two of them didn't bother to conceal themselves and boldly walked down the empty staircase.
"I think Bagman will definitely go to Kakaroff..." Fred said as he walked, "I think we should keep an eye on him to prevent him from revealing any new information to Kakaroff."
"Exactly, I was thinking the same thing." George nodded, "If you can't win, you resort to cheating... No wonder the adults have a poor opinion of Durmstrang. I thought it was because they taught Dark Magic."
"But they won't get away with it now." Fred waved a piece of parchment in his hand, "We'll keep an eye on Bagman. He won't be able to hide and secretly pass on information to Kakaroff."
After that, the two of them quickened their pace and soon arrived at the eighth floor. By following the corridor, they would reach the Gryffindor common room.
"But if I were to say, Kakaroff also did something good." George suddenly said, "After the cat left the castle, it seemed to become quieter, which is fantastic."
"And Filch." Fred also smiled and said.
"Exactly."
George said, "Without them, night exploration becomes less thrilling and a bit boring."
The two of them continued walking forward, but just as they were about to reach the area near the portrait of the Fat Lady, a dimly lit oil lamp suddenly appeared at the corner of the corridor.
Fortunately, the two of them reacted quickly, retreating and immediately using the Invisibility Spell on themselves.
Soon, they saw Filch storming down the other corridor.
"Who's there, I heard you talking, come out!" He said in a harsh voice, scaring Fred and George so much that they dared not even breathe.
The corridor wasn't particularly spacious, and if Filch had taken just a few more steps, he would have discovered the two figures standing before the wall.
One step, two steps... Filch was getting closer.
Suddenly, a clinking sound from downstairs caught his attention.
Filch hurriedly picked up the oil lamp and rushed towards the sound.
...
"It was like this, the oil lamp almost hit my nose."
The next morning, Fred vividly recounted the events of the previous night.
"Who told you to be lazy and not use the Disguise Charm?"
Kyle took a piece of roasted corn, "Filch hasn't been fired, he'll definitely continue his routine patrols."
"Who would've thought?" George shrugged, "Everyone knows that Filch only comes out during curfew, and it was already quite late when we went out, wasn't it?"
"Maybe he's feeling rejuvenated," Cona suggested.
"That's not bad if that's the case."
Fred poked at the stew in the plate, "We do miss Filch."
"Without such an opponent, we don't even feel like going on night walks anymore."
The fun of night walks was to outsmart Filch? Only Fred and George could come up with such an idea.

"Oh, wait, Bagman is here..." George glanced at the Marauder's Map and said suddenly.
The two quickly finished the food on their plates and rushed out of the Great Hall.
Cedric had wanted to follow them, but he had just reached the entrance of the Great Hall when he turned back.
"They used the Disguise Charm," Cedric said, spreading his hands, "I couldn't find them."
...
Similar incidents occurred many times after that.
Bagman seemed to have become a lure for the Weasley brothers. Whenever it wasn't class time, they would immediately rush to him, sometimes even bringing Cedric along.
On the day the third task began, which was also the day the Hogwarts exams ended, they should have been reviewing, but instead, they spent a lot of energy watching Bagman and Karkaroff.
Although Kyle had told them many times that they didn't need to do this, they didn't listen at all.
"You don't have to worry about this, Kyle."
After returning from the Quidditch pitch once again, Cedric said, "The sixth-year curriculum is very relaxed, and our homework is even less than when we were in third year. We have plenty of time."
"Yeah," Fred nodded beside him, "And we don't have to worry about exams either. Our O.W.L. results are already sufficient, and even if we do slightly worse in the sixth-year finals, Mom won't say anything."
"Are you sure?" Kyle raised an eyebrow.
"Um... I think so, probably," Fred hesitated, but in the end, he waved his hand.
"You don't have to worry about this, just focus on preparing for the third task."
"We're doing this for Hogwarts," George took out something shaped like an ear and said, "If we can catch Bagman and Karkaroff cheating... Mom will understand."
"What if you can't catch them? Will you go back with a poor report card?"
The two suddenly fell silent.
"If that's the case..." After a moment, Fred said in a low voice, "Kyle, how about letting us stay in your attic for two months?"
