Chapter 565: Farming, Farming, and More Farming
Chapter 565: Farming, Farming, and More Farming
The entrance to the Eighteenth Star Cave was located deep within the Tower of Plucking Stars.
Lu Chen followed the gentle female cultivator's instructions, holding the Thunderfire Token in his hand, and arrived in front of a vortex of spiritual energy.
In the depths of the vortex, countless thunderbolts could be faintly seen, forming an endless ocean of thunder.
He held his breath and stimulated the Thunderfire Token with his spiritual power.
A bolt of thunderous light surged from the black token, carrying strands of pale flame, enveloping Lu Chen's body, and drilling into the vortex of spiritual energy.
"This is the Thunderfire Cave," Lu Chen said after a moment, his figure floating in mid-air as he surveyed his surroundings in awe.
He seemed to have entered a world of thunder, with thick thunderclouds overhead and occasional flashes of lightning. Long, slender rays of thunder hung in the air, but upon sensing the aura of the Thunderfire Token on Lu Chen, they quickly scattered as if encountering a formidable foe.
Far in the horizon, a vast ocean of thunder raged, with various types of thunderbolts carrying forces of destruction, domination, and insidiousness as they struck down mercilessly, instilling a sense of awe and the unpredictability of the heavenly might.
The thunderbolts gathered on the ground, forming delicate and wondrous flames of thunder, silently merging into the mountains and rocks.
Protected by the Thunderfire Token, Lu Chen arrived at the cave mansion unscathed.
There were far fewer thunderous anomalies here, and the spiritual soil of the cave mansion didn't seem much different from the outside world, which put Lu Chen's mind at ease.
He stimulated the Thunderfire Token, and a spiritual energy shield quietly formed, enveloping the cave mansion.
"The spiritual energy in this cave mansion is quite remarkable," Lu Chen remarked. "In terms of purity and richness, it's not inferior to the inner sect of the Celestial Sword Sect. As expected of the Central Continent."
Lu Chen's spiritual sense swept through every corner of the cave mansion, and only after confirming that there were no abnormalities did he finally relax.
"Finally, I have a place to stay in the Central Continent," he said to himself.
"With this cave mansion, I can once again embark on my farming adventures."
The thought brought a smile to Lu Chen's face.
"I came to the Celestial Star Cave for three reasons: to farm, to farm, and to farm some more!"
Looking at the vast spiritual fields awaiting his cultivation, Lu Chen's heart swelled with ambition.
Without pausing to rest, he retrieved the Illusory Five Elements Array flags from the Gluttonous Insect Pouch and set them up in the center of the cave mansion, isolating a core area.
Subtle five-elemental spiritual energies flowed, and countless silhouettes of five-elemental spirit beasts flashed by, disappearing into the array.
"After all, I'm just an ordinary spiritual herbologist," he mused. "If people find out that I have a fifth-grade array as protection and all these high-grade spiritual herbs in my fields, it would be hard to explain."
"I'll take a selective approach with the core area of the spiritual fields, cultivating only the high-grade spiritual herbs there," he decided. "The outer regions will be for quantity, with herbs like the Water Glow Grass, Fiery Flame Fruit, and Hidden Energy Grass."
With determination, Lu Chen took out the Earthly Spirit Soil, Dark Spirit Mud, Spirit Grudge Mud, and Flame Soil from his Gluttonous Insect Pouch.
"The evil spiritual herbs have too much yin energy," he explained. "If they're mixed with other spiritual herbs, they might affect their normal growth."
Lu Chen manipulated the array, and as the five elemental spiritual powers flowed, a small section of the spiritual field was isolated.
He carefully spread the Spirit Grudge Mud and Dark Mud in the spiritual field, and a faint yin energy immediately began to grow.
Then, from the Gluttonous Insect Pouch, he took out numerous spiritual herbs from the underworld.
"Fifth-grade Holy Infant Fruit, Weeping Wood, Five Treasures Stock, Burning Soul Flower, Mysterious Spring Flower (a rare flower that grows in the dark waters of the Mysterious Underworld Spring)
, Evil Origin Fruit..."
"Fourth-grade Blood Spirit Palm Ginseng, third-grade Thousand Coiling Hands, and the yet-to-be-planted sixth-grade Fierce Bone Demon Seed."
"And you, my big meatball."
Lu Chen casually released the infantile Disaster-grade Evil Meat Spiritual God.
"The atmosphere isn't gloomy enough," he remarked, looking at the isolated spiritual field.
In an instant, a large amount of demon beast flesh and blood poured down, and countless vengeful spirits emerged, carrying gusts of yin wind.
He planted the Sixth-Grade Phoenix Tree above a branch of the Earthfire Vein, along with five Earthfire Heart Lotus spirit seeds.
The Sixth-Grade Primal Magnetic Spirit Wood was placed in an area rich in spiritual energy, where Lu Chen set up a simple spirit-gathering formation to help maintain the vitality of the spirit seeds with the aid of the surrounding spiritual energy.
The Fifth-Grade Clear Net Glass Tea, Dragon Bone Grass, Vajra Bodhi, Mind Ape Fruit, Fifth-Grade White Bone Killing Sword Grass, Divided Light Escape Shadow Sword Grass, as well as the Fourth-Grade Sword Peacock, and Blue Lotus Sword Grass were all carefully cultivated by him.
"I'll plant the Fourth-Grade Earth Emperor Dates and Scarlet Flame Gourd in the outer regions."
"Otherwise, it wouldn't be fitting for a late-stage Foundation Establishment spiritual herbologist like me not to have a few Fourth-Grade spiritual herbs in my collection."
Lu Chen found separate plots of spiritual fields to plant the Earth Emperor Dates, Scarlet Flame Gourd, and Seven Emotions Beans.
Following that, he planted over two hundred Water Glow Grass, seven successfully improved Ice Glow Grass spirit seeds, twenty Jade Dew Fruits, thirty Hidden Essence Grass, numerous Blazing Flame Fruits, Ice Rose Fruits, and Bewitching Immortal Peaches.
In less than a day, the once empty cave mansion was now filled with lush spiritual herbs, vibrant and brimming with vitality, exuding a sense of burgeoning growth.
"Farming is not easy."
Because all the spiritual herbs had just been transplanted, Lu Chen inspected each one carefully and used various basic spiritual herb techniques, as well as some peculiar methods, to meet the subtle needs of the plants.
By the time he was done, even though he had been in the late Foundation Establishment stage for several years, half of his spiritual energy had been depleted.
He returned to the courtyard and released all his spirit beasts.
He sensed the state of each spirit beast and continuously soothed them. After a brief adjustment, the beasts gradually regained their energy. Lu Chen had specially created a small lake at the foot of the mountain, where he placed the Fire Serpent and Rock Armor Turtle.
The Fire Serpent leaped out of the small lake and flew straight into the winding river beside it.
The scorching aura in the river made it feel extremely comfortable, and it let out a cheerful dragon's cry. Its slender body turned into an arrow, darting through the air with speed.
The Rock Armor Turtle crawled to the edge of the small lake, and its greenish-black turtle shell rubbed against the fiery red rocks nearby, absorbing the warmth that seeped into its body, causing it to stick its head out of its shell completely.
The Greenhorned Dragon Carp, on the other hand, stayed quietly in a corner of the lake, gently swishing its sleek and beautiful tail.
The two-headed armadillos' four pairs of round eyes scanned the area, and soon they chose a spot where a deep yellow light emerged, softening the rocks. The two beasts dug into the softened earth and burrowed deeper.
The chubby bird, who had been confined in the Gluttonous Insect Pouch with limited mobility, wanted to stretch its wings and soar, but upon seeing the roaming thunderous light in the air, it immediately chickened out and returned to Lu Chen's side.
"What's wrong? Don't you want to leave your little green-haired friend?" Lu Chen teased.
The chubby bird shook its head, denying the accusation.
"I was just playing with it. Out with the old, in with the new," it replied.
Lu Chen pinched its round belly and lured the Stink-Bomb Beetle, which was emitting a putrid yellow smoke, into the house.
"When did you tag along, little guy?" Lu Chen asked, feeling the slight touch on his hand and sensing the nearly imperceptible presence of the medicinal insect.
In the distance, the Cloud-Riding Lynx transformed into a black light and landed on the wall.
"Roar..."
A familiar roar echoed as the Cloud-Riding Lynx's emerald green eyes coldly surveyed the surroundings, its ears perked with tufts of grayish-white fur, forming a heart-shaped pattern.
Outside the cave mansion, thunder and lightning raged, but within, it remained peaceful and serene.
