Chapter 564: Word and Will (Second Update)
Chapter 564: Word and Will (Second Update)
"Triwizard Tournament!!!"
Ron and Hermione both exclaimed in shock, while Harry looked utterly bewildered.
Jerry nodded:
"Yes, students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang will be coming to Hogwarts."
"This is amazing!"
Ron's face was full of excitement.
Hermione, on the other hand, frowned:
"But the Triwizard Tournament was discontinued a century ago because of the high number of deaths during each event!"
"This time, they must have taken sufficient safety measures; otherwise, the Ministry of Magic wouldn't have agreed to restart it", Jerry explained.
"What are you talking about? What's the Triwizard Tournament? And what are Beauxbatons and Durmstrang?"
Harry was completely lost. Unlike Ron, who had grown up in a witch family and learned many witch stories by osmosis, and unlike Hermione, who loved reading, Harry knew very little about these things.
"The Triwizard Tournament was founded about seven hundred years ago. The three most powerful magic schools in Europe each select a champion to compete in three magical tasks. Before the Ministry of Magic banned it, the tournament rotated among the three schools every five years. The winner received the highest honor, and it was just so cool!"
Ron was practically jumping with excitement as he spoke.
After Ron finished, Hermione quickly added:
"Durmstrang and Beauxbatons are the other two largest magic schools in Europe, besides our Hogwarts. They like to keep their locations hidden, so only their students can find the schools. Harry, you didn't think Hogwarts was the only magic school in all of Europe, did you?"
Hermione looked at Harry with a hint of suspicion.
Harry was taken aback and fell silent. He had indeed thought that Hogwarts was the only magic school in Europe.
"Anyway, it doesn't really matter to us. The basic requirement for being a champion is to be at least seventeen years old. We're just going to be spectators", Jerry said, trying to dampen Ron's excitement.
Sure enough, when Ron heard that the participants had to be seventeen, his face fell.
Who wouldn't want to be a champion? Even if you didn't win, being selected as a champion would prove that you were the best in the school.
His brothers had already won almost all the glory in the school, both good and bad, leaving him with no chance to surpass them.
However, the title of Triwizard champion was something none of his brothers had ever achieved. If he could get it, he would finally have something to be proud of.
Although the chances were slim, there was always the possibility.
Now, even that slim possibility was gone because he didn't meet the age requirement.
Despite this, a mischievous smile spread across his face:
"George and Fred are still four months away from being seventeen. They'll be so angry when they hear about this!"
Thinking about the expressions on his prankster brothers' faces, Ron's mood lifted again.
At eleven in the morning, with the reluctant farewells of the witch parents, the train, filled with students from all seven years, slowly pulled away from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, heading towards Hogwarts.
During this time, witches from various grades were wandering around the train compartments, trying to find Jerry's carriage, either to befriend him, chat, or get an autograph.
Upon discovering this, Jerry cast a spell on his compartment to hide it entirely, seeking some peace and quiet.
As time passed, the sky began to darken, clouds gathered, and thunder rumbled, clearly indicating an impending downpour.
By the time the train arrived at the dark Hogsmeade Station, the rain had turned into a torrential storm.
"Such awful weather!"
After the train stopped, Hermione, holding Crookshanks, looked out at the storm and complained to Jerry.
None of them had brought umbrellas, so they were bound to get drenched on the walk to the carriages, even though they could use magic to dry off once inside the school. It would still be a hassle.
"Maybe the rain will stop by the time we get off!"
Jerry smiled as he looked out at the storm.
Harry and Ron, meanwhile, were putting on their school uniforms and shaking their heads.
"No way!"
Given the intensity of the storm, it was likely to last at least the entire night.
"Anything is possible, especially with summer rain. It comes and goes quickly."
Just before they left the compartment, Jerry flicked his hand, sending a blue magical light out the window, which shot up into the massive cloud above.
Instantly, the entire cloud seemed to dissipate at a visible rate, as if influenced by some special force.
Although Jerry had spent less time studying magic recently, he hadn't been idle.
The essence of magic is to explore the laws governing the world's forces and then use one's own power to mimic and achieve similar effects.
Jerry had accumulated enough magical knowledge that he now spent most of his time feeling the fundamental laws of the world.
The lightning and storm in the sky were just a minor part of the natural order.
Using his recent insights, he had cleverly released some energy to influence the natural order, achieving his desired outcome.
"It really stopped!!"
When Harry and the others stepped off the train, they were amazed to find that the rain had indeed ceased. Looking up, they could see the stars and the moon.
"See, I told you anything is possible."
Jerry, holding Crookshanks whom Hermione had handed to him, walked past the stunned Harry and Ron, heading toward the carriages waiting outside the station.
Harry and Ron exchanged glances, still in disbelief.
"Unbelievable!"
"Perhaps, if I can understand all the laws of the world in the future, I can also achieve Word and Will."
As they sat in the carriage with Hermione, Jerry looked up at the starry sky, thinking to himself.
In his view, true Word and Will meant having enough control over the laws of the world so that any word spoken could alter those laws and fulfill any desire.
Just like how he had said the rain should stop, and it had.
Moreover, he wasn't just understanding the laws of the world; he was also integrating these insights into his ring world, one by one.
