Chapter 564: Chu Mo Island (Thirty)
Chapter 564: Chu Mo Island (Thirty)
"Aha!" Feng Bu Jue suddenly bellowed. "I get it!"
Everyone turned their heads toward his voice, discovering him crouching on the other side of the basin-shaped altar, having apparently noticed something.
"No time to waste, come over here!" Feng Bu Jue shouted again.
Fei Chai Shu's group had failed to find any useful clues in the past five minutes. Hearing his words, they immediately gathered around.
Soon, the four stood behind him.
"I found two fairly obvious hints", Feng Bu Jue said, pointing at a protruding stone slab. "Look closely – there are two patterns here."
As he spoke, he extended his right hand, placing his palm on the stone and gently sweeping across its surface.
At that moment, the previously dull stone emitted a faint glow, revealing swirling orange light patterns that formed two miniature murals.
"The left pattern is pretty clear", Feng Bu Jue explained, pointing at the glowing etchings. "See? It shows a bunch of people urinating on the basin-shaped altar while flipping the middle finger."
"Geez... you're right", Ji Bu broke into cold sweat. "What the hell is this supposed to mean?"
"Eight out of ten, this is telling us to desecrate the basin-shaped altar", Feng Bu Jue replied. "The exact method probably isn't limited to what's shown. Any sufficiently offensive act that angers the deity enough to make it appear should work."
"You'd be the expert on this", Hong Hu muttered.
"True, I do specialize in this field..." Feng Bu Jue grinned. "But don't jump to conclusions yet, because there's a second option." He moved his hand to the right-side pattern. "This one's a bit abstract – took me some time to figure out." He explained, "Look – the figure sitting on the basin-shaped altar resembles a sea anemone at first glance, but it actually represents a woman. Specifically – a young girl."
"So... you're saying we need to offer a young girl as a sacrifice?" Tian Ma Xing Kong asked.
"Bingo." Feng Bu Jue nodded, withdrawing his hand and standing up.
"This is utterly filthy! This vulgar deity shall be shattered by my righteous fists of justice!" Tian Ma Xing Kong declared dramatically.
"Destroying it is definitely necessary since that's our task requirement", Feng Bu Jue paused, sweeping a meaningful glance across the group. "However... how we summon it is a choice we can make."
"The summoning method probably affects the boss fight difficulty", Hong Hu speculated.
"I agree", Fei Chai Shu said. "But... we don't have any female players in our team. Seems like we'll have to go with the first option..."
His words halted abruptly as he suddenly felt an intense, burning gaze.
"Feng Bu Jue... what are you planning..." Fei Chai Shu instinctively tensed.
Feng Bu Jue stared at Fei Chai Shu like a pervert, his tone sleazy. "Brother Chai, remember that Magical Seal spell Lie Sen De gave you?"
At his reminder, realization dawned on everyone.
"Oh right! We still have that trick!" Hong Hu exclaimed.
Ji Bu muttered, "Is that the transformation ability?"
Tian Ma Xing Kong didn't comment, simply grinning widely at Fei Chai Shu.
"Cut it out..." Fei Chai Shu replied flatly.
"As you said, we 'have no choice' but to pick the first summoning method when there's truly no alternative", Feng Bu Jue adopted a serious tone. "This shows that summoning the boss by desecrating the basin-shaped altar is actually the inferior strategy..." He paused again. "But currently... we do have an alternative, don't we?"
"I'd rather increase the boss fight difficulty..." Fei Chai Shu retorted. "I'll take responsibility for any consequences."
"As a Class player... you should prioritize the team!" Feng Bu Jue stepped forward, solemnly patting Fei Chai Shu's shoulder.
"The lustful gleam in your eyes already betrayed you..." Fei Chai Shu pushed his hand away.
"Fine then..." Feng Bu Jue shrugged. "Since you're so opposed to the thrilling idea of disguising as a young girl..." He stepped onto the basin-shaped altar. "We'll have to use the first method."
"What are you doing? Starting a strip show?" Ji Bu narrowed his eyes. "If you are, please warn me first – I need time to gouge out my eyes."
"Sigh... fine, a young girl it is", Fei Chai Shu sighed, stepping onto the altar. "Down you go..." He pushed Feng Bu Jue, who used the momentum to leap back down to the ground.
"Ohoh! The feminized Fei Chai Shu version... now I'm suddenly excited!" Ji Bu's eyes lit up.
"Hmph... you perverts..." Hong Hu adjusted his glasses with a cold snort.
"Rain Dragon, your trembling hands of excitement already betrayed you", Tian Ma Xing Kong suddenly roasted Hong Hu from behind.
"Shun, your bulging eyes like copper bells also betrayed you", Feng Bu Jue turned to roast Brother Horse.
"Actually, he's always like this", Ji Bu mimicked exaggeratedly with his hands. "Those bushy eyebrows never change..."
Buzz—
As this bunch of fools chattered, Fei Chai Shu had already placed his hand on his shoulder, activating the Magical Seal.
Suddenly, a white light flashed before the players' eyes...
(Thoughtful consideration determined this description would be omitted)
"Urgh..." The four players almost simultaneously spun around, vomiting toward the ground behind them.
"Turns out it's a parental-scandal after all..." Fei Chai Shu's voice hadn't changed at all. "Good thing there's no mirror – I'd hate to end up like you lot."
"This face that breaks through heaven... no, through dimensions..." Feng Bu Jue wore an unprecedented solemn expression. "It's truly... urgh..."
Tian Ma Xing Kong gasped in horror: "Dammit... as a hero, I shouldn't judge by appearances, but urgh..."
"It's because you perverts raised the expectations too high that made me..." Hong Hu's vomit nearly shot straight from his esophagus to the ground.
"That has nothing to do with expectations!" Ji Bu roared mid-vomit. "Even Mad Bu Jue puked!"
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean..." Feng Bu Jue retorted. "Do I represent humanity's lowest standards?"
"Haha... self-inflicted disaster", Fei Chai Shu grinned. "Alright, our task time is limited. Stop fooling around and prepare to fight the boss." Saying so, he slowly sat down, then lay flat on the basin-shaped altar. "From now on, I just need to lie here, right?"
“Mmf…!” The four of them instinctively flinched the moment they heard the word “lie.” Though none dared glance at Fei Chai Shu, they couldn’t help but vomit all over the floor again.
“Ahahahaha!” Suddenly, a robust laugh echoed through the chamber.
The voice was magnetic, deep, and resonant.
As the laughter rang out, every glowing stone in the grand hall erupted with blinding light. The brilliance forced the players to shut their eyes—except Fei Chai Shu, who wore sunglasses. Only he saw Wokol’s entrance: a rift tore open above the basin-shaped altar, and from it descended a shadowy figure.
Wokol was an elf man with pointed ears, clad in a pale green tunic, fastened boots, and a hooded cloak. A lute was slung across his back—a classic bard’s attire. His face was nothing short of “exquisite,” with sharp, refined features radiating regal intensity. Every movement blended feminine grace with masculine strength and cold precision.
Needless to say, he and Fei Chai Shu, who lay on the altar, created a contrast so extreme it bordered on absurd…
Seconds later, the light dimmed. The other four players blinked open their eyes to find the spatial rift gone, leaving Wokol hovering midair.
The boss’s opening line was…
“Hehe… My followers, you’ve once again brought me a lovely maiden! I can’t wait to play a tune for her~ Hahaha… Come, show me your face, dear little laaa—Ahhhh!!!”
The rich, resonant voice abruptly screeched like a chicken being slaughtered.
“Ahhh!” Wokol staggered, his eyes wide with disbelief. After instinctively glancing away, he couldn’t resist a second look—and screamed twice more.
“What kind of reaction is this…?” Ji Bu muttered, eyeing the boss with pity.
Feng Bu Jue quipped, “Yeah. Every time you look, it’s like someone just kicked you in the balls.”
“You-you-you…” Wokol sputtered, unable to form a coherent sentence. Before he could, he suddenly dropped to the ground, sprinted to a corner, and began vomiting violently.
“Now!” Feng Bu Jue brandished his Cleaver, barking orders.
“Got it!” Ji Bu, Hong Hu, and Tian Ma Xing Kong shouted in unison, charging forward.
As the deity’s physical form and mind teetered on collapse, the four of them struck without mercy. One brutal assault was all it took to finish off the boss.
…
Five minutes later…
“It’s reverted…” Fei Chai Shu murmured.
The four others, still facing away, slowly turned to look.
“God…” Ji Bu wiped sweat from his brow. “At least this ‘disguise’ wasn’t permanent.”
By now, they’d naturally completed the main quest [Within fifteen minutes, use the basin-shaped altar in the Priest Hall to summon and defeat Wandering God Wokol]. The system prompt had already sounded, though the next task hadn’t appeared yet.
“Hmph…” Feng Bu Jue exhaled sharply. “F*, this might be the easiest boss I’ve ever killed.”
“Man… You didn’t go a bit overboard just now?” Tian Ma Xing Kong glanced at the corner’s remains. “You hacked him like meat for filling. If not for system protection, you’d have sliced us all.”
“You’re right. I did chop him like meat filling.” Feng Bu Jue’s reply was as blunt as ever. “Alright, time to secure our rations.”
“Are you saying you only feel alive if you eat people?!” Ji Bu snapped.
Feng Bu Jue turned, flashing a sly grin as he pointed his blade at Wokol’s corpse. “That’s not human meat. That’s divine meat. At worst, it’s an elf. You’re objecting to eating an elf?”
“Eating elves feels weird…” Ji Bu frowned.
“Says the guy who eats pigs and chickens without a second thought?” Feng Bu Jue shot back. “Suddenly got a conscience because it looks human? What about all the creatures you turned into fertilizer? If you’re so moral, spend the rest of your life eating mushrooms.”
“Why mushrooms? If I go vegetarian, there’s more options than that!” Ji Bu grumbled.
“True. Add cucumbers, eggplants, carrots—flawless,” Feng Bu Jue arched an eyebrow.
“Don’t push your luck…” Ji Bu scowled, catching the double entendre. “Your sleazy, layered traps are report-worthy!”
“Whatever. If you wanna starve, that’s your freedom.” Feng Bu Jue gave up, marching toward the corpse. “The next task’s probably coming. I’ll roast some meat now—enough to eat and store.”
“He’s lost it…” Fei Chai Shu muttered, watching Feng Bu Jue’s retreating figure.
“A monster in human guise…” Tian Ma Xing Kong added.
“A brute without limits…” Hong Hu chimed in.
The trio followed Feng Bu Jue without another word…
“Hey! You’re all still going?!” Ji Bu fumed, dignity trampled. Yet after venting, his resolve crumbled under the gnawing pangs of hunger—he joined them soon after.
…
Moments later, savory aromas filled the hall.
Juices dripped from the roasting meat, hissing as they hit the fire.
“Mm… Taunting Tree branches really burn long. Just a few stacked together keep this fire going.” Feng Bu Jue chatted casually, holding his Cleaver horizontally like a griddle, searing a strip of meat carved from the ribs.
“I know you’re trying to lighten the mood, but maybe silence is better right now…” Hong Hu replied, skewering a piece of neck meat on an arrow (Hong Hu’s satchel held physical arrows—consumables akin to special bullets) and roasting it.
“Heh… Still hung up on it?” Feng Bu Jue smirked like a shady matchmaker. “Once you sat here picking cuts, you should’ve known what you were signing up for.” He shrugged. “But I get it. Everything’s easy from one to two. But zero to one? Impossible.”
“Your drug-dealer tone and ‘persuade-by-force’ stare—so helpful,” Hong Hu shot back, dripping with sarcasm.
Truthfully, he was handling it better than the others…
Fei Chai Shu, Tian Ma Xing Kong, and Ji Bu had nothing more to say.
As the bizarre atmosphere thickened, the system prompt finally chimed [Main Quest Updated]:
[Within one hour, pass through the corridor behind the basin-shaped altar and reach the Crystal Labyrinth.]
