Chapter 561: The Full Moon Wizard's Power
Chapter 561: The Full Moon Wizard's Power
On the surface layer of the Sky City Ruins.
A group of Epic-Level Warriors from the Federation felt the intense energy fluctuations coming from below and fell silent, at a loss for words.
"Everyone, I think we can't let Lord Rayne fight alone", Helm broke the silence, looking at the others.
"But the other side has seven godly incarnations. Can we really turn the tide with just a few of us? It would be like moths flying into a flame!"
"Indeed, last time they attacked the Dragon Empire of Tamriel, not only did they cause the immediate death of Emperor Carlos II, but they also killed multiple Epic-Level Warriors and dragons. The number of casualties was even greater than the seven of us here."
"If we go up, we'll only add to the casualties."
"True, and since Lord Rayne told us to leave first, he must have considered the current situation. Going back now would be betraying Lord Rayne's good intentions."
"This..."
For a moment, everyone was in a flurry of discussion.
After a while, Tirion the Sword Saint spoke gravely, "Everyone, I will definitely go to support Lord Rayne, but as some of you pointed out, having concerns is very normal."
"Although I am the leader of this exploration mission, I won't force anyone to do anything."
"Those who don't want to can stay here and stay safe. Those who are willing can come with me."
With that, Tirion the Sword Saint vanished in a flash, heading quickly toward the lower level via the elevator.
Since the entire Sky City seemed to have some kind of device activated, the cracks in the metal layer on the surface had almost completely healed, so they could only reach the next level through the normal route.
Helm glanced at the others, sighed, and immediately followed Tirion the Sword Saint.
Og and Otto hesitated for a moment, exchanged looks, and then followed as well.
Only the remaining three looked uncertain, thought for a while, and ultimately decided not to go down.
Soon, the four led by Tirion the Sword Saint arrived at B2 Level, but after taking a few steps, they stopped, staring in shock at what they saw ahead.
They saw two dragons they knew well—Black Drake Metes and Steel Drake Dolic—still on B2 Level, and not having gone down.
In their view, the two dragons should have been on B3 Level, helping Lord Rayne battle the godly incarnations.
Even if Steel Drake Dolic didn't go down, Black Drake Metes, as Lord Rayne's dragon companion, surely wouldn't retreat in the face of battle.
"Lord Black Drake, aren't you going down to help Lord Rayne?" Tirion the Sword Saint's expression darkened as he took a step forward.
"The master specifically told us not to go down yet. By the way, I suggest you don't go down either", Black Drake Metes looked at the four of them with his large dragon eyes, speaking calmly.
"Hmm?"
Hearing Metes' words, Tirion and Helm exchanged puzzled looks.
"Below, there's a battle... well, besides the seven Demon Avatars... and two Vile Demons-infected ancient goblins—apparently, they're called Grand Artisan Dupreel and Grand Sage Tamreel."
Steel Drake Dolic, while munching on a piece of unidentified goblin mechanical debris, answered Tirion's question in a muffled voice.
"What?"
Hearing this, the four of them were momentarily stunned.
Besides the seven godly incarnations, there were also Vile Demon avatars?
But why are these two groups fighting each other?
What about Lord Rayne?
"I see!" Helm's eyes flashed with a sharp light, and he exclaimed excitedly.
"I understand why Lord Rayne chose to ascend here in Sky City!"
"So that's the reason!"
Helm's words immediately drew the attention of the other three.
"Don't keep us in suspense, Helm, speak up!" Seeing Helm stroke his beard, looking as if he had just had a revelation but wasn't getting to the point, Tirion the Sword Saint urged him.
"Uh, don't rush, Lord Tirion, let me think about how to explain it."
"Um, perhaps Lord Tirion doesn't know, but I once read in an ancient travelogue that the relationship between Vile Demons and eldritch deities seems to be adversarial."
"Then what? They aren’t hostile to humans? Why are they fighting each other instead of His Holiness Rayne?" Tyrion asked a barrage of questions, his confusion evident.
"Do you all remember the subspace teleportation ability His Holiness Rayne demonstrated before us?" Helm smiled and glanced at the three of them.
"I believe His Holiness Rayne has already hidden himself. That’s why the Vile Demon Avatar and the deity incarnation are now engaged in battle below."
As Helm spoke, he glanced at Black Drake Metes, who wore a look of approval. Helm immediately realized his guess was correct.
"I see." Og and Otto, the brothers, also understood, their worries easing as the tension on their faces dissipated.
"His Holiness Rayne is truly cunning, incredibly smart!" The Sword Saint Tirion laughed heartily, the pressure lifting from his shoulders.
The current situation was far better than he had ever hoped for. Regardless of whether they could defeat the Vile Demon Avatar and the deity incarnation, the safety of everyone was now assured. As the Federation’s representative, he felt a great sense of relief.
Meanwhile, Rayne was focused on his own matters. He quickly found the Steel Heart icon on his Dragon Vein Wizard (Legendary) career panel and examined the new description:
Advanced Steel Heart Meditation Level 13, with the special effect ‘Metal Control Level 5’.
[Metal Control Level 5 (Passive) Effect: Your ability to manipulate metal particles is five times greater than before.]
"Five times the boost!"
The straightforward enhancement filled Rayne with joy.
"Compared to the one-time boost at Level 4, this is a massive improvement!"
Immediately after his advancement, Rayne felt his control over metal particles become as effortless as breathing. Now he knew why.
Raising his hand slightly, a Dark Silver Metal Disk about half a meter in diameter, spinning at high speed, appeared in front of him, with almost no noticeable delay.
The consumption of psi energy was negligible.
This wizardry, derived from the dawn spell ‘Blade Disk,’ was the Level 5 wizardry ‘High-Frequency Cut.’ The two were visually similar, but ‘High-Frequency Cut’ had a much higher vibration frequency.
Furthermore, if Rayne wished, he could easily expand the diameter of the Dark Silver Metal Disk to several meters, even over ten meters, significantly increasing its power.
For now, he was just testing it, so he kept the wizardry’s power to a minimum.
As the humming Dark Silver Metal Disk fluctuated in size, Rayne instantly grasped the vast difference between a Level 5 Full Moon Wizard and a 4th-Level Dawn Mage, which was greater than the sum of the previous levels.
Looking at his attribute panel, Rayne noticed significant changes in the psi energy value and subsequent descriptions:
Mental: 414 (Fission 1%)
"Fission?"
Rayne carefully sensed the pulsating psi energy core in his mental sea, which resembled a split core. The description was both precise and vivid.
Just as Rayne was considering whether to try and develop a Full Moon finishing move, an interesting change occurred in the center of the B3 Level battlefield, and he raised his gaze.
"Boom!!!"
With the combined efforts of four deity incarnations, the complex mechanical device, resembling a super-giant tank, remotely summoned by the ancient goblin Grand Artisan Dupreel from the fourth level, was completely destroyed. Dupreel’s body was also blown into pieces.
On the deity side, the Devouring Serpent, revered by the Mythspire Cult, had lost a portion of its tail, suffering significant injuries.
The eldritch deity Gleek, venerated by the Limbforge Cult, had dozens of arms on the left side of his body blown apart.
Suddenly, a large amount of black smoke erupted from the shattered tank’s top.
The smoke, akin to living creatures, surged towards Grand Sage Tamreel, who was still fighting the deity incarnations.
"Watch out! There’s still a lot of Vile Demon power remaining! Luen, it’s trying to merge with the goblin’s body you’re fighting!" Sea Goddess Hela’s face changed, and she immediately warned.
In their original plan, the three were to distract the clearly more formidable Wizard Robegoblin, while the remaining four would attack together. They aimed to not only eliminate this ancient goblin, who controlled various mechanical devices, but also to completely destroy the Vile Demon avatar.
However, they didn't anticipate that this ancient goblin harbored an unexpectedly vast amount of Vile Demon power.
"This goblin has the strength of a demigod!" Luen, the God of the Hunt, was startled and instantly realized what this meant.
Only this explanation could account for the sheer volume of Vile Demon power contained within the goblin.
"It seems the amount of Vile Demon power here is far greater than we imagined."
"Damn, we didn't expect there to be such a place in this world, aside from the Vile Demon sealed by Matilda!"
At that moment, the Vile Demon power, which they couldn't intercept, surged entirely into the body of Grand Sage Tamreel.
A force that made even the incarnations of the gods shudder began to spread throughout the scene!
"Demigod-level Vile Demon!"
"Damn!"
"Combine our attacks!" the eldritch deity Greyk roared, his face grim.
It's no wonder the seven godly incarnations were now facing a formidable enemy.
The two Vile Demon avatars displayed power on par with their own, at Peak Epic, nearing demigod status.
However, after the fusion, the Vile Demon power greatly increased, and even with the partial restrictions within the Sky City, it still pushed Grand Sage Tamreel's strength to the demigod level.
In other words, they were now facing a Vile Demon avatar with demigod-level power.
As gods, they were well aware of the terror this entailed.
Several blood-red beams, columns of flame, dense black water vortices, and lightning-fast black arrows rained down on Tamreel like a torrential storm.
However, in the face of the combined attacks from the seven godly avatars, Tamreel simply raised his black crystal staff with one hand. In the next instant, a hemispherical black shield, over two meters thick, firmly protected him.
"Boom! Sizzle!"
The explosions were intense, but the shield merely wobbled slightly before stabilizing.
Tamreel's counterattack was swift and fierce.
"Swish!"
The goblin grand sage, now fused, had eyes that glowed almost brightly. He glanced at the Devouring Serpent and fired a Black Beam at it.
"Roar!!"
Faced with this swift attack, a gruesome face on the Devouring Serpent's neck, with closed eyes, suddenly opened and shot two blood-red beams. The face then closed its eyes again, appearing exhausted.
"Sizzle!"
The two blood-red beams only managed to block the Black Beam for less than two-tenths of a second before it broke through and struck the Devouring Serpent's incarnation, which was desperately trying to evade.
"Zzzt~"
It didn't penetrate, but it spread like a bottle of ink poured into a large bucket of water, rapidly contaminating the Devouring Serpent's body.
"Quick! Sever your body!" the Sea Goddess Hela immediately warned.
The Devouring Serpent, seemingly heeding the warning, endured the intense pain and instantly severed about a hundred meters of its tail, a desperate act to save itself.
Strangely, the severed tail, upon hitting the ground, regained its vitality, moving like an independent black giant snake to Tamreel's side, guarding him like a protector.
"Damn! The Vile Demon power is too strong; anyone without demigod-level strength would be contaminated instantly", Hela fumed.
If they could manifest as demigod-level avatars, the Vile Demon before them wouldn't be a problem.
However, their current level of revival was not sufficient to achieve demigod-level manifestation.
Even Rayne, watching from a distance, was taken aback by this scene.
"Managing to corrupt a deity's incarnation, this Vile Demon is truly troublesome after the fusion."
"It seems the best solution would be to separate the Vile Demon's power."
At that moment, the situation on the scene changed once again!
Tamreel, the Grand Sage, who had failed to eliminate a deity's incarnation with one strike, seemed very unsatisfied. He refocused his gaze on the Sea Goddess Hela.
"Watch out!"
The God of Hunting, Luen, shouted loudly, quickly drawing an arrow from his massive bow to shoot at the Goblin Grand Sage Tamreel, intending to disrupt the attack.
However, the Black Beam had already shot out from the cane, narrowly missing the arrow with a swift 'swish.'
Luen's arrow was just a fraction too slow!
The Sea Goddess Hela's beautiful eyes widened. She hadn't expected the opponent to initiate such a powerful attack so effortlessly, capable of continuous strikes.
At this moment, the Black Beam was already within striking distance. She feared she wouldn't have time to sever a limb to escape, like the Devouring Serpent, before the core of her incarnation was swiftly corrupted.
The thought made her heart turn cold.
Suddenly!
A Dark Silver light, so fast it was almost invisible, flashed and collided with the Black Beam just before it hit Hela.
"Hummm!"
Only then did the deities see clearly that it was a Metal Disk spinning and vibrating at an incredibly high frequency.
The disk, with a diameter of over ten meters, acted like a shield, protecting Hela.
The Dark Silver energy on the Metal Disk rippled like water, engaging in a fierce standoff with the highly concentrated black energy beam for a few seconds before both disintegrated and vanished.
Hela, the Sea Goddess, quickly turned her head to the side, in the direction from which the Dark Silver Metal Disk had come.
Seeing the familiar figure, Hela's expression grew complicated.
In that situation, the only one capable of saving her was Rayne, who had ascended to become a Full Moon Wizard.
"Blasphemer, don't think I'll be grateful just because you saved me this time!" Hela narrowed her beautiful eyes and said coldly.
Rayne smiled slightly but didn't respond. Instead, he raised his hand.
Instantly, one, two, three—five more identical large Dark Silver Metal Disks appeared in front of him.
As the seven deity incarnations tensed their bodies, preparing to defend, Rayne waved his hand forward, and the five Metal Disks traced graceful arcs, hurtling toward the Ancient Goblin Grand Sage Tamreel, who was protected by a black energy shield.
"Zzz~ zzz~"
When the first Dark Silver Metal Disk reached the black energy shield, it began to cut fiercely. Although the shield shook violently, it held firm.
However, when the second disk arrived and began cutting, the shield seemed unable to bear the load and was cut halfway through.
The Goblin Grand Sage Tamreel immediately raised his black crystal cane, injecting a large amount of black mist to stabilize the defense.
But at that moment, Rayne's subsequent Dark Silver Metal Disks arrived. Under the combined cutting of the five disks, the black energy shield, which had resisted the combined attacks of the seven deity incarnations, instantly shattered.
It was as if a block of tofu had been sliced into pieces by a flurry of knives.
The Goblin Grand Sage Tamreel was instantly dismembered into eight pieces.
The black mist swirled and spread like a living entity, trying to reform. But in the next instant, the ground rippled like water, and the metal surface flowed like a liquid, enveloping the eight pieces of the Vile Demon's mist.
It quickly transformed into a sturdy gas canister, tightly sealing the Vile Demon inside.
Despite the gas canister shaking violently, the surrounding metal continued to wrap around it, forming mounds that embedded it into the B3 Level's metal floor.
After completing this, Rayne turned to the shocked Sea Goddess Hela and smiled.
"I didn't save you; I was just concerned that you might fall to the Vile Demon."
Huh?
Hela's eyebrows furrowed. She couldn't quite understand the meaning behind Rayne's words.
Wasn't it the same thing?
"It's different, because... even if you were to fall..." Rayne seemed to understand Hela's thoughts and explained with a smile.
"It should be to my hand, so it's not wasted."
