Chapter 561: Arrival of the Magic Schools (Part 2)
Chapter 561: Arrival of the Magic Schools (Part 2)
As everyone's gaze followed the three-headed dragon to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, a suppressed rumbling and sucking sound emerged from the darkness, like some monstrous creature breathing heavily.
"It's in the lake! Look at the lake!" someone shouted.
The calm surface suddenly churned with massive waves, and a black sailboat emerged from the water. It resembled a legendary Poltergeist Ship, dark, eerie, and exuding a decaying aura that sent shivers down everyone's spines.
Then, a tall, slender man with silver-white hair led his students off the sailboat and walked toward the castle.
"Dumbledore, my dear old friend, how are you?"
The man called out in a sweet, syrupy voice, full of enthusiasm.
"Very well, thank you, Karkaroff", Dumbledore replied.
Karkaroff walked up the slope, and when the castle lights illuminated him, he saw Igor Karkaroff standing beside Dumbledore. His face changed slightly.
"Ivan Petrovich", Karkaroff's voice seemed to squeeze out from a crack, his teeth gritted. "I didn't expect to see you here."
"Surprised?" Igor Karkaroff seemed to welcome him warmly, slapping a large hand on Karkaroff's shoulder, causing him to stagger slightly.
"Igor, not happy to see an old friend?" Igor Karkaroff laughed loudly.
A shadow of gloom flashed in Karkaroff's eyes, but he quickly forced a smile that lacked any genuine warmth. "An old friend... it's been a long time. Of course, I'm happy."
Just as the atmosphere grew tense, a peculiar humming sound, low and rhythmic, like a giant fan in the sky, filled the air.
"Merlin's beard, what is that?" a first-year student pointed to the sky, exclaiming.
"A dragon... no, no, a giant bird..."
But as it drew closer, everyone realized it was a chubby helicopter, only a dozen meters long from nose to tail, with a cabin that could seat only one or two people.
The helicopter landed smoothly, and on the side, the words "Salem Witches' Institute" glowed. The cabin door opened, and a tall witch stepped out, her deep blue robe adorned with stars and moons.
Following her was a strikingly handsome blond wizard, his face beaming with a sunny smile, his deep eyes filled with admiration as he looked at Hogwarts School.
"Hello, Dumbledore", the witch extended her hand. "It's a pleasure to see you."
"The pleasure is mine, Ms. Owens", Dumbledore bent down to kiss her hand. "Your arrival is quite unexpected."
"The Thunderbird is too unpredictable and can make one feel dizzy. This helicopter is our latest achievement", Owens turned to introduce the young man beside her. "This is Antoine Mauro, a three-time dueling champion."
"Hello, Headmaster Dumbledore", Antoine stepped forward and bowed.
"Welcome, Professor Mauro", Dumbledore said. "I hope you enjoy your time at Hogwarts School."
"I look forward to it", Antoine's gaze swept over the castle's dark towers and the students standing on the steps, his eyes filled with deep warmth.
Wade turned his gaze to the helicopter's entrance, where Salem students were stepping out, their Silver Serpent-Embossed Robes adorned with silver-gray feather patterns.
Under Professor Minerva Mcgonagall's guidance, the students from the various schools entered the castle to rest.
"They've all gone to warm places, but we're still standing here waiting", Michael muttered. "Couldn't these people have agreed to arrive together?"
"Some like to be first, while others think arriving late makes them seem more important", Padma said.
Wade waved his wand, and a warm current swirled around, heating the ground and making everyone's robes flutter.
"Wow, much better", Fred's voice came from the Gryffindor group. "Great job, Wade."
The warm air continued to blow, and Harry couldn't resist taking his cold hands out of his pockets, basking in the warmth. "I feel like I'm in an oven."
"An oven?" Ron asked, puzzled. "What's that?"
The sky suddenly darkened, and a massive shadow enveloped the entire lawn. Dumbledore looked up and laughed. "Looks like Mammoth and Akhmat have arrived."
Many people craned their necks to look up, but saw nothing except thickening clouds.
Suddenly, a dense, dark cloud descended, gradually lightening as it approached the ground until it became a bright, white cloud.
The cloud parted, and an elephant walked out, its massive feet landing silently, its long trunk swaying.
Behind the elephant was a palanquin adorned with many gemstones, hanging golden bells swaying with its steps.
Beside the elephant was a colorful and intricate carpet, on which sat or lounged a dozen people in brightly patterned silk robes, looking relaxed. Leading them was a petite witch adorned with feather decorations.
A kind-faced, dark-skinned old man stepped out of the palanquin, dressed in a simple white robe. The students who followed him also wore plain white cotton robes.
"Welcome, Olympe Maxime, Sunil."
Dumbledore waited for the witch named Olympe to extend her hand before shaking it, then bent down to embrace the old man, kissing his cheek.
"May peace be upon you, Professor Dumbledore", Olympe said.
"Thank you for welcoming my children, Albus", Sunil said. "May the True God bless you."
At that moment, a light drumbeat and clattering sound came from the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
With a long whistle, a colorful train burst through the air, its engine shaped like a spreading Scarlet Macaw, trailing a silver glow.
The train doors opened, and a bronze-skinned witch stepped out, wearing a colorful cloak and several crystal necklaces, a gentle smile on her face.
"Cavallo!" Dumbledore opened his arms. "Your train is dazzling!"
The witch laughed and gave a warm cheek kiss. "Albus, we sped up to make sure we didn't miss Hogwarts' banquet! Come out, children!"
She called out to the train.
A dozen children jumped off the train, some quickly jumping back on, yelling, "It's so cold, we're freezing!"
Cavallo smiled awkwardly and went back, kicking each student off the train.
Professor Minerva Mcgonagall turned and saw that the students from Mammoth and Akhmat were also shivering, having underestimated the Scottish Highlands' weather in late October and not bringing any thick cloaks.
So, Professor Mcgonagall hurriedly arranged for these students to be taken into the castle.
Before leaving, Cavallo asked, "We're not the last, are we, Albus?"
"Of course not", Dumbledore smiled. "Only Wagtail and the Institute of Magic haven't arrived, but they should be here soon."
"Oh..." Cavallo raised an eyebrow, a sly smile playing on her lips.
