Chapter 560: The Only Idle Person in the Manor
Chapter 560: The Only Idle Person in the Manor
Helena's reaction to wearing the crown was even more incredulous than Kyle's.
"What in the world is going on...?"
As Helena turned to Kyle, about to speak, her pearl-white body suddenly trembled, her face filled with shock, fear, and disbelief.
She then frantically tried to remove the crown from her head, but her hand passed right through it.
"Don't be nervous, Helena."
Kyle smiled and said, "You wanted me to deliver a message to your mother, remember? Well, Lady Ravenclaw also has something she wants to tell you."
"As for me, I'm not very familiar with how owls work. I'm not good at delivering messages; I might forget something important."
"So, I took the liberty of bringing you here. I hope you understand."
Helena remained silent, but tears of the same pearl-white color as her skin rolled down her cheeks.
The tears fell to the ground, transforming into a hazy cloud of smoke that drifted back into Helena's body.
"After over a thousand years without seeing each other, I'm sure you have a lot to talk about... So, I won't disturb you."
Kyle walked to the door, opened it, and stepped out.
"Oh, and one more thing," he said, turning back as if he had just remembered something. "If you need anything, just call for Tatta. He's the house elf here, and he can hear you wherever you are in the manor."
With that, Kyle gently closed the door.
Once the oak door was shut, the voices inside became completely inaudible.
Kyle was curious about the Ravenclaw family's gossip, but now was clearly not the time for idle curiosity, and they probably wouldn't want him standing there while they talked.
Kyle walked down the corridor and soon returned to the manor's grand hall.
Tatta was polishing a crystal ornament on the table with a piece of velvet cloth. Upon seeing Kyle, he quickly stopped his work and bowed in greeting.
"Don't mind me, Tatta," Kyle said, looking around and noticing that they were the only ones there.
"Is Lady Perenelle also helping Master Nicolas with the Philosopher's Stone?"
"Yes, the mistress is also helping," Tatta replied.
"Alright, then."
Kyle sat down on a random chair, and Tatta resumed polishing the crystal ornaments.
Several hours passed, and still, there was no sound from within the room. It seemed that both Nicolas and Lady Ravenclaw had forgotten about Kyle's presence.
Tatta prepared a lavish but lonely lunch. The long dining table only had one person eating—Kyle—as Nicolas and Lady Ravenclaw didn't come out. According to Tatta, they had been taking their meals in the alchemy lab recently.
As for the two in the room, a ghost and a memory, they obviously didn't need to eat.
In the end, the only one left was Tatta, who disappeared after serving the last dessert.
He only reappeared in the corner of the room after Kyle had finished eating.
After a few more hours, Kyle was getting bored. He stood up and asked, "Tatta, can I go to the opera room upstairs?"
After over a thousand years, Helena and Lady Ravenclaw's conversation probably wouldn't end anytime soon. Kyle needed to find something to do.
Listening to the opera seemed like a good way to pass the time, even though Kyle wouldn't understand it. But aside from that, there didn't seem to be a better place to go.
However, upon hearing this, the elf became alert. He remembered how Kyle and Dumbledore had discussed taking that room apart and taking it with them.
"The master said that you can go to any room in the manor."
Tatta said, then added, "But sir must not damage the house. There are the master's spells here. If you try to break the walls, you will be hurt."
"I'm just going to listen to the opera. Why would I break the walls? I don't understand what you mean, Tatta."
"Nothing, Tatta was just talking... I'll take you there." The elf quickly put down the velvet cloth and led Kyle to a room upstairs.
The room was as empty as before, and Kyle walked to the wall opposite the door and pressed a symbol on it.
In the blink of an eye, a large orchestra appeared in the spacious room.
In the elegant and spacious manor, the sound of melodious orchestral music filled the air. As the music reached its climax, a small creature named Tatta, with a body no bigger than a human hand, turned to Kel and said, "If a ghost comes looking for you, please let me know right away."
"A ghost?" Kel asked, his eyes widening at the mention of a supernatural entity.
Tatta's tiny body visibly trembled at the thought. "Sir must be joking with Tatta. There are no ghosts here... I mean, I don't think so," he stuttered, his teeth chattering audibly.
Kel couldn't help but ask, "Are you... afraid of ghosts?"
"Tatta is not scared!" the small creature squeaked, its voice rising in pitch. "Tatta is just... not fond of them."
"Alright then," Kel said, choosing not to press the issue further.
It was understandable for Tatta to be afraid of ghosts, and many new students at Hogwarts had similar reactions upon encountering the school's resident spirits.
"That's settled then," Kel continued. "If you hear someone calling for you, just come find me. Don't be afraid; that ghost is also a guest of Niko, and won't scare you."
Upon hearing the word 'guest,' Tatta's fear seemed to dissipate, though he still appeared tense. At least his teeth had stopped chattering.
"That ghost... guest, when will they be looking for Tatta...?"

Kel thought for a moment and replied, "I'm not sure. It could be today or tomorrow. I can't be certain, but it shouldn't be too long."
"If you're afraid, you can stay by my side for the next two days. If you notice anything unusual, you can let me know right away."
"Tatta is not scared," the small creature insisted, its neck stiff with determination. However, it made no move to leave the room.
Kel shook his head with a hint of amusement and decided not to say anything further. He waved his wand, conjuring a chair for himself and Tatta, and then sat down to enjoy the opera performance filling the room.
...
And so, Kel listened intently for an entire day.
The second day passed, but the oak door showed no signs of opening.
During mealtimes, Kel found himself alone at the dining table.
"Wait, they wouldn't have forgotten about me, would they?" Kel wondered to himself.
Looking around the empty dining hall, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was the master of this manor.
Finally, on the third day after breakfast, Kel called out to Tatta, who was about to leave.
"Could you help me find a mirror?"
"Of course, no problem," Tatta nodded. "What kind of mirror does Sir need?"
"A regular mirror will do, but a larger one with a wooden frame would be best," Kel specified.
Soon, Tatta returned with a mirror that resembled the one in the Headmaster's office, an appropriate size with a cherry wood frame.
Kel asked Tatta to place the mirror in an empty room, and he followed him inside.
He had initially thought that Helena and Ravenclaw would only chat for a day or two, but now it seemed like it might take a week or more.
Niko and Perenelle were also showing no signs of leaving the alchemy lab anytime soon.
While the opera was indeed enjoyable, it was a bit much to listen to for two weeks straight.
More importantly, everyone was busy with their tasks, and Kel didn't want to appear idle.
So, Kel decided to find something productive to do, like attempting to create a magical item... specifically, the mirror he had seen in the room that could store Niko's memories.
Due to the influence of the crown, the runes and symbols engraved on the mirror were no longer as incomprehensible as before. Additionally, Kel clearly remembered the function and position of each rune.
Although it would be challenging to perfectly replicate these runes without the crown's enhancement, Kel was determined to give it a try. After all, he had nothing better to do, and who knew, he might even succeed.
Oh, and there was also the 'Firegod Path' spell he had discovered. After identifying some issues with it, he was prepared to practice it again and see if there were any differences compared to before.
Later, he could ask Tatta if there was a spacious and sturdy area where he could safely cast this spell.
