Chapter 560: The Old Man Will Give You an Explanation
Chapter 560: The Old Man Will Give You an Explanation
Garp!
Kuro never expected this person to block his path!
Given this man’s temperament, he might have gone easy on Luffy himself, but he shouldn’t have interfered with others.
"Making a living at sea means you’ll inevitably be buried in the Grand Line."
Kuro said coolly, "In the Grand Line, life isn’t yours to control—whether you’re a pirate or Navy. You should know this best of all, Garp."
"Old man is semi-retired, just here for a vacation and to check on his grandson. Since old man is his grandfather, this won’t change regardless of whether we’re Navy or pirates."
Garp pressed his lips together, letting out a heavy sigh. "Just do old man a favor this once, Kuro. No, Golden Lion Vice Admiral. Old man has already lost one grandson."
His hands still gripped Kuro’s wrists, showing no sign of letting go.
The atmosphere fell silent.
Kuro stared at him for a long time, exhaling a heavy breath through his nose before slightly shaking his head. His five fingers, which had been pressing down, began to relax. His palm lifted slightly, and the colossal hand spanning the heavens shot upward into the clouds, vanishing into the cloud layer. The sky cleared once more.
"Retirement sure is convenient—taking vacations however you please. Forget it. You helped me guard Pegasus Island once, so we’ll call it even this time."
Kuro said, "But if you do this, you’ll bear the consequences."
"Old man will personally explain to Headquarters", Garp replied solemnly.
"Fine."
Kuro shook off Garp’s grip, sheathing Autumn Water as he pointed downward. "As for this, well—?"
He looked below, but Silvers Rayleigh, whose right arm and left leg he had severed, was already gone, leaving only a pool of blood.
Meanwhile, on the sea surface in front of the port, blood stains spread across the water.
"Still has the strength to escape? That old monster’s got some tricks."
Kuro strode to the port, crouching to dip one hand into the sea.
"If you can escape, consider it your luck! Lion’s Wrath!!"
Boom!!
A massive vortex erupted across the port and part of the surrounding sea.
The already damaged gate trembled violently under the vortex, and the portion submerged in seawater shattered into iron shavings, swirling into the vortex.
The rotational force could tear anything to shreds!
Witnessing this, Garp was stunned, then chuckled helplessly. "Looks like old man owes you one."
"Understood."
Kuro stood up. "I’ve always been merciful, Garp."
He paused, then suddenly called out, "Klah."
"Understood, Kuro-sama!" Klah snapped to attention, shouting in response.
"Take some men to 13GR and seal that bar. What’s that old woman’s name again?"
"Shaki."
"Capture her."
"Understood!"
Klah hurriedly ran off.
"Your Majesty, I’ll take my leave. Luffy’s Crew hasn’t strayed far—I’ll pursue them", Boa Hancock declared, casting a deep glance at Kuro before turning away.
Kuro watched her coldly, exhaling smoke. "This woman…"
"Kuro, she kicked Luffy’s Crew onto the ship", Lida approached, saying.
"I know."
Kuro replied, "She’s one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, outside our system. If there’s an explanation to make, it’s between her and the World Government. Leave her be—so long as she doesn’t cause me trouble."
He didn’t care whether Luffy’s Crew entered the New World.
From his memories, the Four Emperors would target Luffy anyway. Regardless of who won or lost, their attention wouldn’t fall on him, Kuro.
This meant even as Vice Admiral, if his duty forced him into the New World, things would be easier.
But this hinged on them not provoking him.
He didn’t know the ship was hidden at the base, but even if he did, he wouldn’t care.
Couldn’t they just switch ships?
If they insisted on sneaking in, they could leave quietly without making such a commotion. He, Kuro, might have ignored it, considering his own plans to enter the New World and his connection to Garp’s grandson.
But they made such a huge scene, tearing apart the base and slapping him in the face?
If he didn’t teach them a lesson, would they think he was a vegetarian?
What?!
Did old man’s subordinates also destroy the base?
What’s wrong with the Navy protecting their own base?!
Still want to argue?
Then why run away?!
Later, Silvers Rayleigh, that stubborn old man who refused to listen, also interfered.
Did he expect to leave unscathed?
What nonsense!
Now that things have reached this point, Kuro finally felt some relief.
That stubborn old man, even if he survives, will be crippled—losing an arm and a leg, torn apart by my own power. Whether he lives depends on his ability to stir things up.
If he truly escapes…
Kuro wouldn’t have much recourse.
At this level, unless someone recklessly insists on a life-or-death battle, no one can truly stop another.
Just like the Four Emperors can’t stop him, Kuro.
Reaching this point of severed limbs—whether it’s a blessing or curse from Luffy, who knows?
Do I look like someone eager to fight?
If it were a one-on-one battle without any burdens, Kuro thought it would take at least four or five days to see any result.
Last time, when limbs were severed, it was an Admiral’s duel where both sides insisted on a decisive outcome.
Kuro glanced at the ruins, shaking his head. "Causing such chaos…"
Garp approached, saying, "Old man will give you an explanation."
"Please. What explanation could you give me, senbei?"
Kuro exhaled smoke. "If you really feel you owe me a favor, go plead with the higher-ups. Compared to the New World, I’d rather be stationed in the first half of the Grand Line. The Navy has little foothold there."
"Puhahaha! Foothold, huh? Old man gets it now!" Garp laughed heartily.
The previous solemnity had vanished.
Kuro shook his head. This old man was shamelessly carefree.
He looked toward the Grand Line, eyes flickering.
The Navy’s foothold in the New World wasn’t just minimal—it was tiny. Even the New Marine Headquarters and G-5 were near the Red Line.
Deeper in, the Navy had no influence at all.
Kuro hadn’t hoped to avoid the New World entirely.
But with Garp’s arrival…
They might negotiate.
Though semi-retired, Garp still held Vice Admiral rank. His faction’s strength wasn’t weak, and with his support, Kuro might achieve his wish.
Just maybe?
If he didn’t have to go to the New World…
Wouldn’t life immediately head toward something beautiful!
As for the Four Seas?
Forget it.
He might be a coward, but he wasn’t foolish.
At his current rank, no one would send him to the Four Seas.
Paradise was still better than the New World, at least…
The Shabondy commotion ended.
It concluded with capturing hundreds of pirates and two with bounties over 100 million. Overall, aside from minor disturbances and the Navy base becoming ruins, there were no casualties.
Klah didn’t capture Shaki. When he led men to the bar, everything remained unchanged except the old woman was missing.
After staking out for two days and confirming she wouldn’t return, Klah sealed the bar.
No news of Silvers Rayleigh or Shaki emerged in Shabondy.
They vanished as if they’d never existed.
Under normal circumstances, Kuro would be delighted—whether they lived or died, at least one hidden trouble vanished from his base.
If he weren’t a Vice Admiral, he’d be even happier.
May all goddesses have a joyous festival! As for men, who cares? Dressing as women works too! Let universal celebration abound!
