Chapter 56: Dragon Ride Rescue
Chapter 56: Dragon Ride Rescue
"Yes, I saw it." At this moment, Professor Mcgonagall also understood the severity of the situation, her face turning serious.
"I'll go ahead first. You should find Professor Dumbledore and bring him here. The password to the Headmaster's office is Fizzing Whizbees." After saying this, Professor Mcgonagall cast a spell that blew open the window in the corridor. With an authority that defied her age, she flipped over and jumped out of the third-floor window.
"Professor Mcgonagall!" Hermione rushed to the window, worried, watching as Professor Mcgonagall fell rapidly from the height and then landed smoothly after waving her Wand.
"Cool, it's a Levitation Charm. How about we try it too?" Ron said enviously.
"We're on the third floor. We won't have time to cast the spell before we fall to our deaths!" Harry reminded him.
"Let's go find Professor Dumbledore quickly." Although Professor Mcgonagall had already gone to provide support, Hermione was still uneasy. Only Dumbledore could give them the security they needed.
"There's no need. I heard everything."
Just as Hermione was about to lead the group into action, Dumbledore emerged from the shadows, his gaze fixed on the distant Forbidden Forest. The usually calm expression on his face showed a hint of concern, clearly indicating that what was happening in the Forbidden Forest had exceeded his expectations.
At this moment, deep within the usually silent black Forbidden Forest, a cacophony of noises could be heard.
After a while, a large figure struggled out of the underbrush. The already tattered and patched clothes on its body were now stained with blood, and a thick, pungent smell of blood permeated the Forbidden Forest.
If it were any other time, the predators hidden in the Forbidden Forest would have already been circling, but now, apart from the noise made by Hagrid, the forest was so quiet that only the chirping of insects could be heard.
"Phew, phew." Hagrid panted heavily, gripping a makeshift wooden club he had found along the way. He leaned against a large tree, eyes fixed on the front.
From the shadows, a figure cloaked in black slowly approached. Hagrid, who could no longer walk, threw the wooden club with all his might.
As a half-giant, Hagrid's strength far exceeded that of an ordinary person, which was one of the reasons he could successfully tame many magical creatures.
The thick wooden club whistled through the air, but for a wary and powerful wizard, such a move was meaningless.
"Reducto!" The black-cloaked wizard simply waved his Wand, and the club exploded mid-air, showering the ground with splinters.
"Who are you? Why are you attacking Unicorns in the Forbidden Forest?" Hagrid demanded, his eyes red with anger.
The black-cloaked wizard did not answer. He was not foolish enough to explain his reasons for hunting Unicorns to Hagrid. Instead, he raised his Wand, pointed it at Hagrid, and whispered,
"Avada Kedavra!"
A green beam of light shot towards Hagrid at an extraordinary speed. Recognizing the spell from the black-cloaked wizard's incantation, Hagrid fell into deep despair.
Memories of Harry, Dumbledore, Aragog, Ivan, Hermione, Ron, and Norbert flashed through Hagrid's mind. Just as he was about to accept his fate, a white, glowing figure darted out from the side and stood between him and the green beam.
"No!" Hagrid roared, his eyes wide with horror and his face contorted in rage.
But no matter how much Hagrid shouted, it could not change what was happening. The green light struck the white figure, which suddenly stopped and fell to the ground.
It was a Unicorn.
Even as one of the most powerful magical creatures, after taking a direct hit from the Killing Curse, its vitality was rapidly fading, and its life was nearing its end. The once pristine white mane was now stained with blue blood, but even so, it struggled to stand up.
Rubeus Hagrid was already in tears, wanting to crawl over to check on the Unicorn, but his body had no strength left.
The cloaked figure of Quirrell was trembling with fear, as the voice of the Dark Lord echoed in his mind.
"Useless, you can't even kill a beast", Voldemort thought this was the weakest of his followers he had ever led. A direct hit from the Avada Kedavra had never failed to kill instantly before.
Quirrell felt deeply wronged. It was because of the excessive Life Force that Voldemort had absorbed from him over the past few days that his magic had been significantly weakened.
However, facing the Dark Lord who controlled his life and death, Quirrell dared not complain. Instead, he directed his anger at the Rubeus Hagrid before him.
If it weren't for this reckless fool suddenly appearing while he was hunting the Unicorn, he would have succeeded long ago. How could he have wasted so much time?
So Quirrell ignored the Unicorn whose life was rapidly draining away and slowly approached Rubeus Hagrid, savoring the helplessness and despair in Rubeus Hagrid's eyes.
Quirrell raised his Wand to cast the Avada Kedavra again, to end Rubeus Hagrid's life. But as he lifted his hand, he saw a different light in Rubeus Hagrid's eyes, a light that shifted from despair to confusion and finally to shock. His lips trembled slightly, and Quirrell could faintly read the word he was trying to say.
Dragon.
"Don't think you can deceive me with such a petty trick", Quirrell said disdainfully. He had seen too many of these attention-diverting tactics.
Besides, where would a dragon come from in Hogwarts?
"You fool, look up!" Voldemort's voice echoed in Quirrell's mind again.
Despite the cloak that significantly reduced his sensory abilities, Voldemort could still detect a life-threatening attack.
The moment Voldemort spoke, a clear dragon roar reached Quirrell's ears. By the time Quirrell turned around, it was too late. All he could see was a ball of scorching flame getting closer and closer.
Voldemort abruptly took control of Quirrell's body. The grotesque snake-like face suddenly turned to the front, tightly pressed against Quirrell's face. The two faces overlapping created a bizarre sight.
Even so, Voldemort only managed to raise his Wand before being engulfed by the flames.
In the midst of the dragon's fiery breath, a purple Magic Barrier suddenly appeared, barely keeping the flames at bay. However, the intense heat and rolling waves of air forced Voldemort to remain vigilant, especially as the hastily cast Magic Barrier began to crack and showed signs of collapse.
Fortunately, the flame breath lasted only three seconds before ending. Just as Voldemort let out a sigh of relief, a massive dragon's head appeared before him, using the force of its dive to shatter the barrier and send the grotesque body flying.
