Chapter 559: The So-Called Force is Also a Commodity
Chapter 559: The So-Called Force is Also a Commodity
Bang!!
Kid and Law's heads collided as their hands came together, only to bounce apart, each feeling a surge of pain. But before their bodies could straighten, the hands gripping their heads pushed inwards again.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A rapid series of blows caused both of them to blink in pain, their eyes stinging from the impact.
Amidst the collision, Law struggled to raise his hand and activated his Room.
"Ro!"
"Ro, your mother!"
Sage clapped his hands together, causing their heads to collide once more. He then quickly jumped into the air, spun, and grabbed their heads, throwing them forward.
Boom!
Their bodies flew and slammed into the building in front of them, creating a hole and sending up a cloud of smoke.
Within the smoke, two stones fell.
"Ha, ha!"
Law and Kid appeared below in an open space, both clutching their heads and gasping for breath. But before they could catch their breath, Sage snapped his fingers.
"Thunder Strike!"
Boom!
Two bolts of lightning instantly descended from the dark clouds covering the sky, striking the two of them.
As the lightning dissipated, their bodies turned black, and they coughed out black smoke.
Sage chuckled, "Flash? Teleportation? If your reflexes aren't up to par, you'll only get struck by lightning."
Snap!
Speaking, he snapped his fingers again, and two more bolts of lightning descended from the sky.
"Room!"
This time, Law reacted, shouting and switching places with Kid and the stones on either side of Sage. Instantly, the Long Sword of Wailing Ghosts aimed at Sage, and Kid extended his mechanical arm, rapidly gathering a batch of guns and metal to form a giant arm.
"Impact Gamma Blade!"
"Magnetic String!"
A green wave of energy burst from the long sword, and the giant mechanical fist on the other side attacked Sage. In the blink of an eye, they reached Sage and struck him hard.
Bang!
The giant metal fist was caught by a hand that, compared to it, looked like an elephant's hand holding an ant. The metal fist seemed as light as a balloon in that hand.
The green beam of energy was also blocked by a hand with black flames swirling around it. After a moment, the hand seemed to ignite the green beam, causing it to dissipate.
"Let me teach you a lesson."
Bang!
Sage clenched his right hand, and his palm sank into the metal fist. It seemed like he had struck a critical point, and the magnetized metal arm shattered, sending fragments flying everywhere.
"As long as your Haki is strong enough, you can ignore most attacks in the world. Of course, the prerequisite is..."
Whoosh!
Law's vision blurred, and in the next instant, a whip-like leg struck his face.
"Your body is weak!"
Bang!
Law was kicked flying backward by the leg, but just as he took off, Kid saw an afterimage and felt a pain in his chest. He spat out fresh blood and flew backward as well.
"One by one, your abilities are weak, your Haki is inadequate, your reactions are slow, and your guard is insufficient. The only thing worth praising is your courage to challenge a Yonko. However..."
Sage appeared in Kid's original position and, with a twist of his waist, a flame ignited on his fist.
"If you start by ensuring you'll win, then it's not courage but ignorance to boast! Fire Punch!"
Boom!
A fierce pillar of fire shot towards the two in front of Sage as he punched forward. The high-temperature flames destroyed the buildings in their path, reducing them to rubble before igniting, turning the area into a sea of fire.
Before the raging fire, two scattered pieces of metal suddenly disappeared, replaced by the figures of Luo and Gid.
Blood trickled from the corner of Luo's eye, while Gid clutched his chest, gasping for breath.
In this critical moment, it was Luo, the most adept at utilizing his Devil Fruit abilities, who came to their rescue, replacing them out of harm's way.
"You could've just let the fire roast you, and maybe after sustaining severe injuries, I'd remember that you owe me money. Maybe then I'd spare your lives."
Sage chuckled softly, "Speaking of which, after such a long delay, how do you plan to repay me? I haven't seen any territory under your control for so long. What's with these pirates nowadays, blindly following the Record Pointer?"
"Are you pirates, or is the Record Pointer the pirate?"
Read the correct version on Book 69! 6=9+Book_Bar First Release of this Novel.
Being a pirate, seizing territories, and engaging in large-scale looting are no longer the mainstream. Instead, cruising around the world in a pirate ship, traveling from place to place, has become the new norm.
Sage sighed in frustration, "Do you think you're Columbus, discovering new continents and establishing trade routes, aiming to become a slave owner? You can dream all you want, but it's also important to stay grounded!"
"Don't listen to those who say the more you spend, the more you earn. Everyone's cutting costs and laying off employees, and you're not even thinking of saving. After retirement, you might have to sell yourselves in Wave Country. Look at yourselves—no money, no skills, and not even able to repay the money you owe me. You have no credibility at all."
"Stop spouting nonsense!"
Gid shouted, "That's because you coerced us with force. I never acknowledged that I owed you money."
"Bad wind."
Sage snapped his fingers, unleashing a sharp gust of wind towards Gid. The latter quickly gathered a large clump of metal to block the attack, but the wind blade was too sharp, instantly slicing through the massive metal arm and even severing a portion of Gid's mechanical arm.
If not for his timely dodge, that strike might have decapitated him.
Even so, the sharp wind blade left two cuts on his face and neck.
"Look at that, this is what low-level pirates are like."
Sage grinned menacingly, baring his teeth. "So-called force is also a commodity. I sell my strength, and you either pay me with money or your life. Because my strength is formidable, you have no other choice. How is this not a business transaction?"
"The essence of the world is often this simple. Individuals may be constrained by social norms, but once it escalates from individuals to a collective, some things are merely excuses, pretexts for my actions. I don't even need to explain myself."
"What will they call me? Tyrannical? Evil? The world's number one Destroyer? The Robber King? Perhaps they'll call me by any name, but no one dares to call me weak."
He spread his arms wide and laughed, "It's that simple. Why complicate things? When I say you owe me money, out on the high seas, no one will question the statement itself. They'll only question why you owe me money and why you haven't repaid me yet. Haha!"
Sage didn't care what the sea had to say. After defeating Big Mom, he had reached a point where he could do as he pleased.
His strength provided him with too many guarantees, even the World Government couldn't touch him.
"Forget it. I guess you're deadbeats."
Sage clenched his fists, "I have a standard procedure for dealing with deadbeats. Let me walk you through it."
