Chapter 559: That's the Old Man's Grandson
Chapter 559: That's the Old Man's Grandson
The slash forced Silvers Rayleigh to stagger backward two steps, clutching his chest as he wavered unsteadily.
Kuro’s eyes narrowed. As his blade descended, he flipped the sword upward in a fluid motion, preparing to strike again.
Clang!
Long Blade blocked Kuro’s Autumn Water. Silvers Rayleigh gripped his sword with one hand, straining to resist the blow.
Bang!
A foot shot from Silvers Rayleigh’s side, slamming into his waist. The impact sent him skidding sideways, rolling across the ground several times.
Kuro didn’t retract his leg. Instead, he bent his knee and sprang forward, the other leg straightening as his body floated like a ghost—swift, elusive, and closing in on Silvers Rayleigh.
Silvers Rayleigh had barely risen halfway when Kuro struck.
Combat power inevitably declines with physical strength, injuries, and age.
The slash Kuro landed wasn’t light.
Silvers Rayleigh’s physical body was formidable, but it wasn’t on par with Kaido or Charlotte Big Mom. His true strength lay in swordsmanship. Physically, he was roughly equal to Kuro—or perhaps slightly inferior.
Of course, this was only true if Kuro wasn’t using his Black Tortoise Mystic Art.
Such a body couldn’t withstand Kuro’s strike without a sharp drop in combat power.
Under normal circumstances, Kuro would’ve needed half a day of continuous fighting to wear Silvers Rayleigh down like this.
But when your heart is burdened, you falter.
That ship—and Luffy’s crew aboard it—was Silvers Rayleigh’s weakness.
If he didn’t block, the slash would cleave the ship in two, endangering Luffy’s crew.
Once the ship split, the crew would plunge into the sea.
And half of them were Devil Fruit users.
Silvers Rayleigh wouldn’t allow that.
But by blocking, he played straight into Kuro’s hands.
That brief gap was all Kuro needed.
The slash had been infused with the most Advanced Observation Haki, striking a body that hadn’t braced itself.
After that strike, the disparity in their strength became glaring.
Silvers Rayleigh was already weaker than Kuro in raw combat power. Now injured, the gap widened.
Kuro surged forward, gliding past Silvers Rayleigh as the latter rose.
Silvers Rayleigh finally reacted, but dodging was impossible. In that instant, he coated his body in Armament Haki.
Kuro’s form flickered—disappearing for a moment.
The next instant, he stood behind Silvers Rayleigh. His feet touched the ground, and Autumn Water spun in his hand before aligning with its scabbard and sliding in.
Click.
The blade sheathed.
“Hmph.”
His navy-hooded cloak billowed behind him as Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke sideways, murmuring,
“Instant Thousand Strikes, Mystic Art!”
Shishishi!
From Silvers Rayleigh’s body erupted countless bloodied gashes, slicing through the Armament Haki coating. He looked like a blood fountain, his blood pooling rapidly around him. In moments, the ground beneath him became a crimson swamp.
His mouth hung open, his body trembling. The Haki covering him vanished, and he collapsed into the bloodbath.
“Not bad,” Kuro remarked, surprised. “Surviving Old Man’s major Mystic Art without turning to mush? Your Armament Haki protection held up.”
Hiss!
Before he finished speaking, Silvers Rayleigh suddenly lunged. Gripping his sword with both hands, he slashed downward at Kuro, unleashing a Haki-infused strike.
Kuro’s brows furrowed. As he prepared to dodge, a shocking aura engulfed him, freezing his body.
Conqueror’s Haki!
“Damn old man!”
Kuro clicked his tongue, his body vibrating as he stepped back. Autumn Water flashed unsheathed. This time, even the most Advanced Haki wasn’t used—only pitch-black Armament Haki surged forth, cleaving through the Haki slash.
“You still have strength left, old man? Old monsters are different, but what does it matter?”
Before Kuro could finish, he froze. Silvers Rayleigh had used the moment Kuro disrupted his Haki slash to strike again—this time at the harbor’s gate.
Boom!
The slash cleaved a massive hole through the steel gate.
“Head to sea!” Silvers Rayleigh roared at the Thousand Sunny. “Sail to the New World, Luffy!”
“Wind Cannon!”
At his words, Franky’s bellow echoed from the ship. A massive air cannon gathered at the Thousand Sunny’s rear, firing with explosive force. The ship rocketed through the hole, racing beyond the Grand Line.
Watching the ship vanish, Silvers Rayleigh’s blood-streaked face smiled. “Pursue your dream, Luffy. Seek the world’s truth.”
As he turned, gripping his sword with both hands, he inhaled deeply. A whirlwind of Armament Haki Encasement surged onto his blade, and he charged at Kuro.
“Now, let this old man block you for a little longer!”
This man was a Devil Fruit user.
Even if the Thousand Sunny had escaped, at this distance, he could still catch up. He had to keep blocking.
Clang!
Autumn Water unsheathed instantly, golden electric sparks flaring on its Encasement, blocking Silvers Rayleigh’s slash.
Kuro’s face darkened. “Looks like I didn’t wound you enough!”
He thrust forward, shattering Silvers Rayleigh’s sword aside. The blade, still crackling with golden sparks, returned to its scabbard—only to draw again.
“Crescent Moon Slash!”
A single slash sent Silvers Rayleigh’s wrists trembling, nearly failing to block. His body swayed, battered by the force.
His injuries were already severe.
As he staggered, Kuro pressed the advantage. His blade swung, morphing into a solidified Ultimate Mystic Art phantom. It slashed toward Silvers Rayleigh’s neck.
“Ultimate Mystic Art!”
Gritting his teeth, Silvers Rayleigh raised his sword with both hands to block, twisting his body to evade.
Too late.
Clang!
The Long Blade shattered under a black slash laced with golden sparks. A fragment spun through the air before clattering to the ground.
Hiss!
Silvers Rayleigh’s right arm severed at the shoulder, landing neatly on the ground.
He grunted, releasing his sword with his left hand as he clutched his shoulder, collapsing to his knees.
Kuro flicked Autumn Water, scattering blood droplets, and pointed the blade at Silvers Rayleigh. “Think they’ll escape? I’ll sink them in the Grand Line without even flying.”
He raised his hand, fingers splayed, targeting the Thousand Sunny’s faint silhouette beyond the harbor.
“Old man, feel this long-forgotten despair!”
With a downward slam, the sky above the sea darkened.
Across Shabondy and the ruins, everyone looked up.
A colossal shadow engulfed the ocean beyond Shabondy.
From beneath the clouds emerged a titanic hand—vast, endless, composed of countless rocks—plummeting at terrifying speed as Kuro’s palm pressed downward.
“This level…”
Boa Hancock stared at the sky-obscuring hand, swallowing hard, her pupils contracting.
Totally unstoppable!
Could humans even resist such strength?!
But if they didn’t… Luffy…
Boa Hancock’s feet shifted.
Yet, Silvers Rayleigh suddenly lunged from the ground, kicking at Kuro’s face.
Kuro’s expression chilled. He gripped Silvers Rayleigh’s ankle, channeling Haki. The “Internal Destruction” Haki tore through every bone in Silvers Rayleigh’s left leg.
Boom!
Kuro flung him like a ragdoll, slamming him into the ground, leaving a human-shaped crater.
A flash of blade severed the leg at the knee.
“Tch.”
Kuro discarded the leg, raising his hand again to strike.
The sky-obscuring hand accelerated, nearly reaching the Thousand Sunny.
Kuro’s eyes locked grimly on the ship’s silhouette. “Sink, old man!”
Snap.
A hand gripped Kuro’s wrist.
Lida, Klah, Ju Geng, and Fen Ni stared, wide-eyed, at the one holding Kuro’s wrist.
Kuro frowned, staring silently before growling, “Give me a reason.”
A hooded cloak billowed, blocking Kuro’s view. As it fell, Kuro saw the ship on the sea had vanished.
The one gripping his wrist was Garp.
His face stern, Garp held Kuro’s wrist. “That’s the old man’s grandson. His last grandson.”
