Sure enough, less than five minutes after the communication ended, J and K appeared at the corridor entrance. However, as soon as they arrived, they inexplicably turned and headed downstairs. Liam, seeing this, quickly dispelled the surrounding Magic and opened the door to call them back.
"It seems the spell to expel Muggles is only effective against humans", Liam mused as he welcomed the two Men in Black agents into the room. This made sense, considering the person who invented the spell never imagined that intelligent beings without Magic could include aliens. This reminded him to be more cautious when choosing Magic in different worlds, as the creators of these spells only considered local conditions and couldn't account for the Multiverse.
"Alright, Lola. We need to leave now; we only have 39 minutes left", K said, glancing at his vintage digital watch.
"But Selena—" J began, but Liam quickly interrupted him. "I'm glad you're here. You and K can take Lola to handle your business, while Hermione and I will attack the Mib headquarters to buy you enough time."
"You should know that Selena is a notorious evil queen, even in the galaxy. It's rare for anyone to defeat her without weapons", J warned.
"Don't worry about that", Liam said, pressing his hands down to calm them. "We are Wizards, and close combat is our forte. You'll need a lot of high-tech equipment for your task, which we don't understand and can't help with. It's better for us to go where we can use our strengths."
"Alright, then we'll split up. J, let's take Lola and go", K agreed and immediately left with J and Lola.
"Saving the worlds, sounds pretty cool." "But why not take us?" "The Bug Squad is the true hero who can save the worlds." After J and K left, the bugs started their chatter. Liam turned to them and asked, "If you want to save the worlds, you can come with us. We can take you directly to the Mib Headquarters."
"Great, let's go then." The bugs eagerly retrieved their hidden weapons and armed themselves, as if they were heading to a grand party.
"We'll check it out first. Once the reconnaissance is done, we'll bring you over", Liam shrugged. He remembered from the movie that these bugs trembled like leaves when faced with the trash can robots' machine gun legs and refused to participate in the battle. They were all talk and no action. He didn't want to bring a bunch of potential liabilities to the battlefield.
After casting several defensive spells on himself, Liam Apparated to the Mib Headquarters with Hermione. Upon arrival, they saw the evil alien queen Selena pacing anxiously in the center of the hall, clearly distressed because the two-headed alien she had sent to capture the Light of Sator had not returned, giving her a sense of impending doom.
"Death." Before arriving, Liam and Hermione had already confirmed the enemy's identity, so as soon as they Apparated into the Mib Headquarters, Hermione used the Death Law to cast a spell that enveloped Selena.
As a battle-hardened evil queen, Selena was no rookie. When she heard the commotion behind her, she was shocked that someone could enter the Mib Headquarters without making a sound and get so close to her. However, she didn't panic. Instead, she immediately transformed into a large, distorted monster composed of living, tentacle-like vines.
As she transformed into a tangled mass, dozens of vines shot toward the spot where Hermione had cast the spell. Two of the vines pierced the ground, creating deep holes in the metal floor.
However, these powerful attacks were ineffective. A blood-red mist appeared around Hermione, completely enveloping her. Any vine that entered the Blood Mist and touched the Death Aura within it withered and decayed at a visible rate, eventually turning into gray-black ash on the floor.
"Ah—" These snake-like vines were part of Selena's body. As the Death Aura destroyed them, Selena's main body experienced intense pain. This pain was not just the loss of a body part; the direct confrontation with death itself, as induced by the Death Law, was extremely terrifying for any living being.
But the Blood Mist controlled by Hermione was moving extremely fast. In just a few seconds, it had completely enveloped Selena. To survive, Selena endured the immense pain in her body and soul, sending the Vines around her shooting out in all directions in an attempt to stop the Blood Mist from compressing further and to secure a chance at survival.
However, Hermione's Blood Mist, infused with Death Power, encountered some difficulties when faced with the numerous Vines. Perhaps it was due to the insufficient accumulation of her magic power, which was still lacking due to the short time she had been practicing. To eliminate the life force of the Vines, the Blood Mist had to stop just two feet away from the large mass of Vines that Selena had transformed into. Under the threat of the twisted Vines, Hermione exerted all her strength to cast the death-infused Blood Mist, ensuring that no Vines would escape.
While the two women's battle reached a stalemate, Liam had achieved a decisive victory over the trash can robots. These soulless machines, with no magical defenses, were completely defenseless against Liam. They didn't even have a chance to deploy their weapons before Liam's wand-fired runes struck them, turning them into a pile of scrap metal.
Having dealt with the robots, Liam immediately stepped forward to support Hermione, who was locked in a grueling struggle. After casting a few spells to test Selena, he realized that she possessed no supernatural abilities. The reason she had been able to hold out against Hermione for so long was purely due to her alien nature, which gave her a powerful life force that could counter Hermione's still-inexperienced death-infused Blood Mist.
With the enemy now confirmed to be less formidable than expected, Liam quickly adjusted his strategy. He began to draw runes in the air around the Selena trapped in the Blood Mist. These runes quickly transformed into chains that wrapped around the layer of Blood Mist.
"What is this?" Hermione could sense that some other energy had mixed with the Blood Mist she had released. However, this energy was not intended to attack the enemy trapped within but rather to exert a strong controlling force. This magic contained a powerful binding and controlling energy that affected not only the enemy but also the Death Power within the Blood Mist. Curious, Hermione asked Liam about the purpose of this magic.
"I want to seal this creature", Liam smiled. "Don't you think it looks like Little Qing? I want to see if sealing it might help Little Qing evolve."
As he spoke, the Blood Cocoon, which had formed due to the stalemate between Hermione and Selena, rapidly changed with the addition of Liam's magic. The entire Blood Cocoon expanded and then suddenly contracted, shrinking to the size of a basketball. At this point, Liam felt the Vines inside the Blood Cocoon begin to resist violently.
It seemed that the initial smooth progress was due to the effect of the magic and Selena's temporary surrender, which was a ruse to make Liam and Hermione drop their guard for a counterattack. However, Selena did not realize that the magic's principle differed from any attack she had seen before. When she realized that things were not going as she had expected and that waiting would only lead to her silent death, she decided to make one final, desperate attempt at resistance.
Unfortunately, this resistance was futile. Despite her physical strength, Selena lacked any control over her soul. Soon, her last attempt at a counterattack failed, and the Blood Mist completely engulfed her. At the moment the Death Power stripped away her life force, a shrill, piercing scream reverberated through the Mib Headquarters, causing the agents who had just emerged from the Vines to clutch their ears in pain and crouch down.
"This creature's soul is not weak, but it couldn't harness this powerful force. Otherwise, we wouldn't have defeated it so easily today", Hermione sighed softly after confirming Selena's death and completing the magic.
"Indeed", Liam said, picking up a blood-red amber the size of a baseball from the ground. Inside the amber, a strange green plant the size of a human thumb was sealed. "We can't match the Dark Lord in terms of time spent learning magic, so if we want to win this war, we must venture into other worlds to obtain their magic. Perhaps we can find powerful magic in other worlds that can help us defeat the Dark Lord."
As Liam and Hermione discussed their strategy for defeating the Dark Lord, the agents and aliens who had been affected by Selena's final scream began to recover and started cleaning up the aftermath.
