Chapter 558: Lanchi Believes That Magic Ends With Physics
Chapter 558: Lanchi Believes That Magic Ends With Physics
In the snowy fields of the Land of Eternal Night, as named by the northern continent, a strange spectacle unfolded at midnight.
Usually enveloped in endless darkness, the snowfields were now illuminated by the twinkling stars and the soft glow of moonlight, casting silvery shadows on the snow-covered land.
Suddenly, the edges of the dancing snowflakes in the air began to sparkle, as if countless golden stars were descending upon the earth.
The lights gradually grew brighter, their warm golden hue a stark contrast to the cold silver-white of the snow.
These specks of light spread and merged, forming a dazzling sea of luminescence.
The snowfield awakened to this golden and silver radiance, transforming into a fantastical world where day and night coexisted.
Cardinal Lanchi, keeping a watchful eye on the struggling vampire count in the distance, confirmed that Sigil was covering her eyes tightly. He gently removed her hand from her face.
Anticipating the possibility of encountering vampires in the Land of Eternal Night, Lanchi had come prepared with a pair of sunglasses, and even bought an extra pair during their journey.
He took out the spare sunglasses from his pocket and knelt down to carefully put them on Sigil.
"Sigil, you can slowly open your eyes now." Lanchi prompted her.
"..."
Although Sigil expected the brightness to be overwhelming, she trusted Lanchi and slowly opened her eyes.
The next second.
She beheld a wondrous sight.
Golden and silver lights intertwined, reflecting off the snowflakes, making each one look like a tiny illuminated lantern.
She reached out in amazement to touch the snowflakes.
The light continued to spread, and the night sky began to transform in a strange and wonderful way.
The deep blue of the night gradually faded, replaced by a soft orange hue that resembled the gentle glow of dawn.
What astonished Sigil the most was that, in this land of perpetual night, the sun and the moon shone together on the horizon.
"Well, what do you think?" Lanchi snapped his fingers and spread his left hand, gesturing for her to admire the snowy landscape.
"I couldn't get you a birthday present, so I thought I'd perform a magic trick for you instead." Lanchi smiled proudly.
"..."
Sigil's lips parted in awe as she gazed upon this surreal world, unlike anything she had ever seen before, not even in her dreams.
Each snowflake shimmered with golden and silver radiance, as if enchanted by magic.
The shadows of the mountains and trees in the snowfield softened and took on a mysterious aura under this unusual light, their outlines clearly defined by the vibrant colors.
"Thank you, Roche." Sigil murmured.
Lanchi nodded.
However, they still had one more task to accomplish.
"Now you should be able to beat him, right?" Lanchi pointed to the vampire count, Gregory, who was finally struggling to his feet in the distance.
Bathed in the radiant light, Count Gregory's cape took on a silvery-white hue, making his already pale skin appear as fragile as paper, his veins visible through it.
During the day, when their powers were diminished, even the fifth-rank vampire, Palokas, a formidable warrior, had been no match for the trio of divine heads in the sun-drenched Liuli Cathedral.
Now, facing Sigil, Count Gregory, a scout-type vampire, was surely outmatched.
"Mhm."
Sigil snapped out of her trance, her eyes hardening with determination as she fixed her gaze on her nemesis.
Even in the daytime, she would defeat this vampire count! Sigil strode through the snow with purpose, each step sounding like a hammer blow to Count Gregory's heart.
He struggled to pinpoint her location, his senses seemingly scrambled.
Then, with a ferocious force, Sigil unleashed a punch aimed at Count Gregory, her blow nearly ripping through the air itself.
As her fist descended, Count Gregory's eyes remained tightly shut in agony. However, his combat instincts kicked in, and he bent down, protecting his heart and head.
A thunderous boom reverberated through the air!
Sigil's fist landed squarely on Count Gregory's lower back, creating a metallic clang that echoed across the snow-covered landscape.
Count Gregory managed to withstand the blow, relying on his seventh-rank physical prowess, but his body swayed like a small boat in a tsunami, stumbling forward only to be struck again by her iron fist.
"Ahhh!"
Count Gregory roared in unimaginable pain.
The proud wolf tribe, devoted to the Moon Goddess, rarely resorted to underhanded tactics that went against their martial ethics.
He never expected this little brat to be a despicable kidney-striker, aiming only for his waist.
Shamelessly taking advantage of his impaired vision! Sigil's nimble footsteps glided across the snow, her approaching presence like a surging black tide, filling Count Gregory with apprehension as he struggled to locate her position, his eyes still unable to withstand the glare.
Far away, beyond the reach of his sight.
The Great Lover stood like a ghost, her violin gleaming with an eerie light.
With Cat Boss by his side, Lanchi had more than enough cards at his disposal, and it wasn't difficult to get some low-level instrument equipment cards for the Great Lover.
"Let's play a tune, 'Hymn to the Moon Goddess.'"
Lanchi instructed the Great Lover after a moment's thought.
"Then, when you go to the Demon Realm, you have to take me along for the fun."
The Great Lover, dressed in a red skirt, stood quietly in the radiant light, her gray hair cascading like a waterfall as she closed her eyes and whispered softly.
She gently held a finely crafted magic violin on her left shoulder, her fingers deftly sliding along the neck until they found the perfect position.
"No problem."
Lanchi nodded in agreement.
After all, they would definitely need the Great Lover's skills in the Demon Realm.
Aside from her magic engineering studies, the Great Lover also possessed a natural talent for music, easily picking up new instruments and reading sheet music with little guidance.
However, for reasons unknown, she seemed to look down upon instruments, always seeking to transform them into magical artifacts.
"Moon Goddess,"
The Great Lover's countenance exuded a calm and poised aura as she softly parted her crimson lips, and time itself seemed to slow down in her presence, becoming graceful and elegant.
"Charming goddess who roams the night."
Her right hand gracefully held the bow, and she began to play.
"In your name, I bare my heart."
As the notes rang out, the Great Lover's voice blended with the rich and deep tones of the violin, filling the snowfield with their melody.
"Midnight birds sing, bathed in your grace, and passion soars to the heavens."
"Under the gentle moonlight's protection, your song shall echo through the ages."
"Solace, shelter, hope, and love, in our shared world, we rely on prayer, and you are with us."
Under the influence of the Great Lover's enchanting music, Sigil's fighting spirit soared, and her punches grew heavier, each blow accompanied by a wild and unrestrained roar as she relentlessly pummeled Count Gregory, causing blood to splatter with each hit.
Count Gregory's rage knew no bounds.
"Ahhhh!"
Even though he knew he was at a disadvantage, he still yearned to tear his opponent to shreds!
"Sigil, I'll teach you a set of boxing techniques. How much you can learn depends on your own comprehension."
Lanchi felt that Count Gregory had already experienced the thrill of battle, so it was time to step up their response.
Lanchi stood behind Sigil, directing and patiently imparting the combat techniques of the Lan Fist Style.
Through his extensive research, Lanchi had come to realize one crucial thing.
The pinnacle of magic was the art of fist-fighting.
Basic attacks were just too powerful.
Sigil listened to Lanchi's verbal instructions while engaging in combat.
"I understand."
For some reason, after just one explanation, she felt as though she had mastered the technique, not only grasping the fundamentals but also able to improvise and adapt.
Sigil sidestepped Count Gregory's clawed counter-attack and lunged forward, driving a punch into the joint of his neck!
"I've thought you were annoying for a long time."
Sigil remarked expressionlessly, giving her wrist a casual flick.
