Chapter 557: The Yang Seal is Passed Down, and Sorua Evolves
Chapter 557: The Yang Seal is Passed Down, and Sorua Evolves
At dawn, Mu Yue prepared a simple breakfast before heading to the Southern Forest to teach her disciples.
Mu Yue had long passed the stage of instructing her disciples daily.
The further along her ninja disciples progressed in their training, the more they had to take the initiative in their learning and diligently practice to improve.
However, if there were any crucial new techniques to be learned, Mu Yue would still conduct concentrated lessons to ensure her disciples grasped them as soon as possible.
In the morning, Mu Yue primarily focused on instructing Obito and Tobirama in person, while her shadow clone oversaw the rest of the disciples' training.
Ever since completing the Yang Seal last night, Mu Yue had been taking any spare moment to refine chakra and store it within the seal.
She had spent a considerable amount of time preparing a sumptuous late-night snack for Tsunade the previous evening, and to ensure she had sufficient energy for the next day, she had retired early after their meal, leaving her with little time to accumulate chakra in the Yang Seal.
During the noon break, Mu Yue's main body ventured deep into the Southern Forest alone.
She was there to test the effects of the Yang Seal.
Although it was theoretically successful, Mu Yue would never teach her disciples a technique without testing it herself first to identify any potential issues.
Once she reached a distance where she wouldn't disturb her disciples' rest, Mu Yue paused and focused her breathing to the extreme while simultaneously activating the Yang Seal.
"Yang Seal Release!"
As the stored chakra within the seal was released, the flame-like seal on Mu Yue's forehead glowed red, and fiery red patterns began to spread around it, resembling a burning flame.
"Yang Seal: Breath of Flames!"
With the change in the seal, Mu Yue's aura surged, and she entered the Breath of Flames chakra mode.
Mu Yue casually gathered a large fireball and tossed it to the side, instantly creating a crater over seven meters wide.
"No problems at all," Mu Yue nodded in satisfaction. "In fact, because of the extra chakra, I can be more liberal in its use and maximize the power of the Breath of Flames."
When using chakra mode through breathing techniques, Mu Yue rarely pushed her power to the limit because the increase in strength wasn't significant compared to the extra chakra consumed, making it inefficient. It was better to conserve chakra for emergencies.
However, with the extra blue bar, there was no need for such concerns. After all, the extra blue bar was specifically meant to maintain the breathing technique chakra mode and couldn't be used for anything else.
After a series of tests, Mu Yue was pleased with the refined Yang Seal, which essentially met her previous expectations.
Having confirmed that the Yang Seal was functioning correctly, Mu Yue called Kakashi to her side before the afternoon training began.
She handed him a scroll and said, "This is an S-rank sealing technique called the Yang Seal, which I specifically developed to address the issue of excessive chakra consumption in breathing technique chakra modes. It allows you to store extra chakra for use in battle."
Upon hearing Mu Yue's introduction to the Yang Seal, Kakashi's face lit up with joy.
He desperately needed this sealing technique.
Although Kakashi was often mocked for his "lack of blue" in Mu Yue's previous life, the truth was that without the Sharingan, Kakashi possessed an impressive amount of chakra.
However, the current Kakashi had a repertoire of supermodel-level skills that were incredibly chakra-intensive. While techniques like the Lightning Breath chakra mode and the Sword of Non-Thought were extraordinarily powerful, they drained his chakra quickly.
"With extra chakra to maintain the Lightning Breath chakra mode, I shouldn't find myself exhausted after a single strike," Kakashi thought to himself.
Chakra capacity was of utmost importance to him; with sufficient chakra, he might not lose to Might Guy.
It was frustrating to possess a wide array of skills but lack the chakra to use them effectively.
Kakashi was proficient in lightning and earth releases, and his mastery of weaponized chakra was only a notch below Hatake's. His lightning release sword technique was exceptionally sharp and deadly.
However, in battle, he often found himself limited by his chakra reserves and had to selectively use only a portion of his extensive arsenal.
If Kakashi had an abundance of chakra to freely release pseudo-dark purple electricity, he could truly rival Might Guy, who could access the Eight Inner Gates, the Five Elements Release, and the Rock Breath chakra mode.
While Might Guy had the advantage of the Eight Inner Gates and the Rock Breath chakra mode, Kakashi had his own unique strength—he was the only disciple who had mastered the Transparent World.
"Take a look at the contents of the scroll first," Mu Yue instructed Kakashi. "If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Focus on understanding the theory first and don't rush into practicing it. The Yang Seal is a dangerous technique, and I'll explain it in detail to you in a couple of days."
Mu Yue's sealing technique proficiency was now on par with that of Kushina, and in addition to using proficiency scrolls to enhance her medical ninjutsu skills, she had also studied medical knowledge under Tsunade's guidance.
Even so, when setting up the refined Yang Seal within her body, Mu Yue had done so only under Tsunade's protective seal.
Out of an abundance of caution, Mu Yue intended to first ensure that Kakashi thoroughly understood the theory before having him practice the Yang Seal under her protective seal.
"Okay, thank you, Teacher Mu Yue," Kakashi replied with a nod.
Given Mu Yue's warning about the danger, Kakashi would certainly not attempt to practice the technique without her guidance.
After all, Mu Yue was usually understated in her speech, and when she described something as dangerous, it typically meant that any mishap would likely result in death.
After the afternoon training began, Mu Yue left Obito and Tobirama to practice the Blue Flame on their own, while she started instructing Charmeleon, who was basking in the sun.
During the day, Charmeleon didn't shine as brightly as at night, but it still quickly drew the attention of the disciples nearby.
Although the light sphere it created during the day wasn't as noticeable, Charmeleon's ability, Sunny Day, caused the surrounding area to become uncomfortably hot, with temperatures rising at an alarming rate.
Fortunately, the extreme temperature spike was short-lived, and a few minutes after Charmeleon's ability faded, the area returned to a more comfortable temperature.
"Even I have to study diligently for a long time to learn a technique, how can a Pokemon like it possibly master the Blazing Sun technique?" Obito expressed his doubt about Charmeleon's ability to learn Sunny Day.
Sunny Day was like using a divine ability to force a patch of brightness into the night, and it also weakened water-type moves while boosting fire-type attacks.
It was a cool and powerful technique that Obito naturally wanted to learn, but Mu Yue had refused, citing that the time investment wasn't worth the payoff.
Obito couldn't believe that Charmeleon's innate talent for fire-type moves could surpass his own.
Initially, Obito's progress in learning fire-type jutsu had been rather average compared to Tobirama's. However, with the activation of his bloodline limit and the enhancement of his potential through the Breath of Flames, his learning speed had increased significantly.
On the other hand, Charmeleon struggled to master even Fireball, appearing somewhat lacking in intelligence.
As if sensing Obito's thoughts, Charmeleon glared at him.
Obito might look down on it now, but once it mastered Sunny Day, Obito would be begging it to use the move!
"Not only will I learn it, but I'll also master it," Charmeleon vowed silently.
It already had plans to get back at Obito—when he was asleep, it would use a mini-version of Sunny Day to warm his head.
Mu Yue watched with satisfaction as her disciples and their Pokemon trained diligently. It was another harmonious day in the Southern Forest.
...
After the afternoon training session, Danzo returned home to prepare dinner.
As usual, he took Sorua out for a walk before returning to the courtyard to begin his own training.
He only stopped at 11 p.m. in the evening, ready to call it a day and get some rest.
"Danzo, it seems like you've been working even harder than usual lately. You've been training almost non-stop except for meals and sleep," Sorua, who had been lying by his side, stretched and commented.
"It's not really necessary to push yourself so hard, you know. Didn't your teacher also say that cultivation should be balanced with rest?" Sorua added, concerned about Danzo's well-being.
Seeing Danzo's dedication to his training, Sorua was worried that he might be overtaxing his body. After all, the human body was more fragile compared to that of a Pokemon.
"With Teacher Mu Yue's secret elixirs, I don't have to worry about my body. And to achieve my goals, strength is essential," Danzo wiped the sweat from his brow and gently patted Sorua's head.
"Thank you for your concern. Once the affairs at the Police Force settle down, I'll go back to my previous training routine," he assured Sorua.
With the clan meeting approaching, Danzo intended to make a splash at the gathering, and so he was pushing himself to improve his strength as much as possible.
If all went well, he might not even need to display his power. But if things took a turn for the worse, and there were stubborn or deliberately obstructive members of the Uchiha clan, Danzo would show them that the times had changed.
Both he and Obito were far more than just 'geniuses' now.
"So, you're eager to become stronger, Danzo?" Sorua stood up, looking at him.
"Yes, during this period, I want to become as strong as I possibly can," Danzo affirmed.
"You really are hopeless," Sorua sighed, a hint of exasperation in his voice as he looked at Danzo.
Danzo lightly tapped Sorua's head with his finger, amused by the idea that Sorua was taking care of him and indulging his whims. How the tables had turned!
The force Danzo used was minimal, barely more than a gentle scratch, so Sorua maintained his usual cheeky smile.
"Danzo, watch me carefully and remember my adorable appearance," Sorua said with a grin, leaping from the veranda to the courtyard below.
"Now, look at me closely," Sorua instructed, standing still.
A minute passed, and then Sorua released the power it had been suppressing—a dazzling white light enveloped its body.
It wasn't lazy; it just loved to pull pranks. Sorua had diligently completed all its training.
It had even helped Danzo in the tournament by fighting alongside him in the quarterfinals of the Martial Arts Tournament.
On their first day back in Konoha, Sorua could have evolved, but it had forcibly suppressed the evolution because it didn't want to change.
It knew that if it evolved, it might become a bulky creature like Menas the Charizard, and then how could Danzo hold it or let it perch on his shoulder?
Its transformation ability was essentially an illusion, and it didn't change its true form or weight. If it evolved and stayed with Danzo, it might end up exhausting him.
But Sorua understood the importance of Danzo's goals, and by evolving, it could better protect him.
"Is that really true?" Danzo asked, his expression complex.
He had suspected that Sorua might be holding back from evolving, and now he knew for sure.
After all, Sorua was no less capable than other Pokemon, and having hatched at the same time, it made no sense for it to lag so far behind.
The white light faded, and standing before Danzo was a Sorua that towered over him in height.
The evolution had brought about significant changes to Sorua; it was no longer walking on all fours but standing upright like a human.
The reddish mane that had covered its back as a Sorua now flowed down, giving it a wild and untamed look. Its arms and legs were tipped with sharp, red claws, adding a touch of fierceness to its appearance.
"Now I realize how tiny you are, Danzo. Maybe I should start calling you Little Danzo," Sorua teased, gently rapping its claw on Danzo's head.
At nine years old, Danzo was dwarfed by Sorua, who now stood at an impressive height of 1.7 meters. To Sorua, Danzo seemed like a child in comparison.
After evolving, Sorua realized that while it couldn't be held by Danzo anymore, it could now lift him up high, something it couldn't do before.
"Cut it out," Danzo said, a mix of amusement and exasperation on his face as he looked at the mischievous Sorua, who was now towering over him with its arms outstretched.
Perhaps it was the increase in size or the more mature appearance, but Sorua's smile didn't seem as playful as it used to be.
Even though it could now physically dominate Danzo with its height, Sorua's demeanor changed instantly when faced with the boy who had hatched and cared for it. All traces of mischief vanished.
"Try using an illusion on me," Danzo suggested after a moment's thought.
Illusions were Sorua's innate ability, something it had mastered from the moment it was born, and evolution was supposed to enhance a Pokemon's abilities across the board. Logically, Sorua's illusions should be incredibly strong now.
"Hehe, Danzo, you've already fallen for my illusion! I'm still Sorua, I didn't evolve at all. It was just an illusion to trick you!" Sorua boasted with a smug smile.
But as Danzo looked at Sorua, it had transformed back into its four-legged form.
"I can't feel any signs of being under an illusion at all," Danzo thought to himself, surprised.
Even without using the Sharingan, Danzo was a master of illusions, adept at both casting and dispelling them. Yet, he hadn't detected Sorua's illusion at all.
"Try again," Danzo said, activating his Three Tomoe Sharingan.
The Sharingan enhanced his illusion resistance, and with it active, Danzo's ability to detect and dispel illusions was greatly amplified.
"Hmph, watch closely, Little Danzo, and witness the greatness of Sorua!" Sorua's proud voice echoed in Danzo's mind.
In the blink of an eye, Danzo saw Sorua's form rapidly expand in his vision, transforming into a colossal Sorua that dwarfed the house, as if it might continue growing and crush the building.
"This illusion alone is incredibly powerful."
Danzo realized that even with his Three Tomoe Sharingan active, he still instantly fell for Sorua's illusion, although he could dispel it with careful inspection.
This level of strength was more than enough, as none of the Uchiha clan, except perhaps Fugaku, were skilled enough in illusions to match Danzo.
