Chapter 557: The Injection
Chapter 557: The Injection
Chapter 557: The Injection
Zhao Chenglei: "He isn't!"
Zhou Chengsen: "......"
Ruan Tang continued, "Your pants are contaminated with the dog's saliva. Your wound isn't deep, so it doesn't need bandaging, but I'll cut off the pant leg to avoid the risk of the wound touching the fabric again once it's cleaned."
Then, Ruan Tang took a pair of scissors and cut off his pant leg.
Zhou Chengsen: "......"
"Can't I just roll them up?"
"I'll pay for the pants."
"That's not what I meant."
How was he supposed to walk out with his pants like this? What about his dignity?
"If we don't cut them, what if you accidentally bump your wound while taking off your pants?"
Jiang Xia, who had seen Gao Jie for prenatal check-ups multiple times, naturally knew Ruan Tang. She smiled, "Dr. Ruan is so meticulous! Second Brother, just follow the doctor's advice. Lei has a spare set of clothes in the car, so you can change later."
Ruan Tang: "It's the least I can do. This uncle saved me. The dog was aiming for me, but if not for this uncle, I would have been bitten. I haven't even thanked him yet. Thank you, Uncle!"
Zhou Chengsen: "......"
Jiang Xia and Zhao Chenglei both looked at Zhou Chengsen: "Uncle?!!!"
How did this age gap come about? Zhao Chenglei and Ruan Tang's cousin were good friends!
Zhou Chengsen had to explain, "Last time when Ying Ying and Zhou Zhou went missing, Dr. Ruan helped take care of them."
Jiang Xia smiled, "Really? That's quite a coincidence. We should be the ones thanking Dr. Ruan."
But she still didn't understand where the "Uncle" came from.
Ruan Tang threw away the pant leg, walked back, and squatted down. She used tweezers to hold a cotton ball and continuously cleaned the wound with a large amount of saline solution.
A small wound, and Ruan Tang cleaned it for fifteen minutes!
Zhou Chengsen, who had a meeting in the afternoon, couldn't help but say, "Doctor, that's enough."
Everything on the wound was washed clean! The blood was almost washed away!
Ruan Tang continued cleaning with a serious expression, "Are you the doctor, or am I?"
Zhou Chengsen: "......"
He really wanted to say: You're a pediatrician, not a surgeon.
A small wound, and she cleaned it for half an hour!
By the time she finished cleaning, Zhou Chengsen had no patience left.
After disinfecting the wound, Ruan Tang said to Zhou Chengsen, "Follow me for a rabies vaccine."
Zhou Chengsen felt a bit uneasy, "Can't I just take some medicine instead?"
"No."
Zhao Chenglei: "My Second Brother is afraid of injections. Is there any other way to prevent it?"
"No." Ruan Tang looked at Zhou Chengsen suspiciously, "Not afraid of rabid dogs, but afraid of injections?"
Zhou Chengsen glared at Zhao Chenglei, "Stop making things up! Who's afraid of injections? It's clearly you who's afraid!"
Zhao Chenglei remained expressionless, "If you're not afraid, go ahead and get the injection!"
Ruan Tang: "If you're not afraid, let's go. I'll take you to the injection room."
"......"
Zhou Chengsen took a deep breath and had no choice but to follow.
Jiang Xia and Zhao Chenglei followed as well.
Jiang Xia whispered to Zhao Chenglei, "Is Second Brother really afraid of injections?"
Zhao Chenglei glanced at Zhou Chengsen, who was exposing half of his leg, "Yes!"
Jiang Xia: "Are you afraid?"
Zhao Chenglei chuckled, "How could I be?"
He was only afraid of taking fever reducers and drinking medicine, not injections.
Jiang Xia nodded, "That's true."
If he were afraid, he wouldn't have dared to have that surgery. She wondered if anesthesia was involved in that.
Zhao Chenglei, about to ask what she meant, looked at her and understood, "......"
In the injection room, Zhou Chengsen watched Ruan Tang put on gloves and pick up the syringe and needle, feeling uneasy, "Dr. Ruan, you're the one giving me the injection?"
Ruan Tang drew the vaccine into the syringe and glanced at him, "Is there a problem?"
"......No, is it going to be in my arm?"
"Not a regular injection, it’s a buttocks shot. Sit on the stool, undo your belt, pull down your pants a bit, and expose half of your buttock."
Zhou Chengsen: "……"
"Um, isn't giving injections the nurse's job? Can we get a... male nurse?"
He stopped speaking when he saw Ruan Tang, holding the syringe, squeeze out a bit of the liquid, then look at him with a blank expression.
"Turn around, pull down your pants. The nurse is busy." Ruan Tang gave a direct order.
Zhou Chengsen quickly turned around, loosened his belt, and pulled down his pants slightly, as if preparing for the worst.
He wondered if a pediatrician would even know how to give injections.
Doctors probably weren’t as skilled at it as nurses, right?
Would it hurt a lot if she did it?
Zhou Chengsen was genuinely terrified of injections.
"Pants a bit lower."
"……"
Zhou Chengsen pulled his pants down a bit more, just a centimeter or so.
Ruan Tang: "……"
She didn’t say anything more, just pulled his pants down a bit further herself. "Hold it there, don’t move, and try to relax."
She had given injections to many people before and didn’t find it awkward at all.
Ruan Tang used an alcohol-soaked cotton swab to disinfect the area.
Zhou Chengsen’s whole body tensed up.
"Try to relax."
Zhou Chengsen tried his best to relax.
But how could he?
Ruan Tang, expressionless, held the syringe with one hand and aimed the needle at the white flesh, piercing it down.
Zhou Chengsen instantly tensed up.
Sure enough, doctors weren’t meant to give injections; it hurt like hell!
"Try to relax." Ruan Tang pushed the liquid into his muscle, wiping the area around the injection site with the cotton swab as she went.
When she was done, she pulled out the needle and disinfected the site again. "All done."
She disposed of the syringe and cotton swab. "The rabies vaccine requires five shots. On the third day, seventh day, fourteenth day, and twenty-eighth day, remember to come back for your shots."
Zhou Chengsen quickly pulled up his pants and fastened his belt. "No need, I can get them at Zhen Shang Health Center."
"We don’t know if the vaccine at the health center is the same. I’ll write you a prescription; just come back to me for the shots." Ruan Tang didn’t wait for his response, pulled aside the curtain, and went to write the prescription.
Zhou Chengsen: "……"
Zhou Chengsen quickly came out. "Dr. Ruan, I can pay for the medication myself."
"You were bitten by a dog while saving me. I’ll cover the medical expenses; otherwise, I’d feel bad."
Zhao Chenglei handed him a pair of clean pants. "Here, go change into these!"
The two brothers were about the same height, though Zhao Chenglei was slightly taller. Still, Zhou Chengsen could wear his pants.
Zhou Chengsen took the pants and quickly went to the restroom to change.
Ruan Tang then turned to Zhao Chenglei and Jiang Xia. "The rabies vaccine requires five shots. On the third, seventh, fourteenth, and twenty-eighth days, remember to remind him to come back for his shots."
Zhao Chenglei knew how much his younger brother feared injections. "I’ll remind him."
Ruan Tang didn’t wait for Zhou Chengsen. "I’ll be going now."
Jiang Xia noticed she wasn’t wearing her white coat and guessed she had just finished a night shift. She looked tired, and they also needed to get home, so she didn’t invite her to dinner. "We should have treated you to a meal, but you just got off your night shift, right? Get some rest today, and we’ll treat you and Aunt Gao to a meal next time. Thank you so much, Dr. Ruan."
Ruan Tang had indeed been on a night shift and was too tired to eat, but she thought she should treat Zhou Chengsen to a meal. "No need to thank me; it’s my duty. I’ll treat you all to a meal when I’m off next time. I’ll be going now."
"Okay, be careful on your way home." Jiang Xia smiled as she said goodbye.
Zhou Chengsen, having changed into the clean pants, came out and noticed Ruan Tang was gone. He subconsciously let out a sigh of relief.
"Let’s go!"
The three of them walked toward the hospital’s main entrance but then saw Ruan Tang turning back.
Zhou Chengsen felt a jolt of lightning in his mind:
He really didn’t want to see Dr. Ruan again!
Sorry, I haven’t forgotten about the missing chapter. I couldn’t finish it this week because I have to travel to the neighboring city tomorrow. I’ll try to get it done next week.
