Chapter 557: The Forgotten Book
Chapter 557: The Forgotten Book
After ruling out the options of fleeing or surrendering, only one path remained!
That path was to increase his own strength as much as possible, and if the situation became dire, to use the Fidelius Charm to survive. As long as he could boost his Magic level and fuse more bloodlines, Ivan was confident he could successfully turn the tables on Voldemort.
This was why Ivan was hesitant about how to handle the New Century Manifesto.
The thickness of the booklet, which was about two fingers wide, and the depth of its content clearly showed the amount of effort Gryson had put into it. Only a powerful individual who spent countless sleepless nights, thinking and writing, could have completed it in less than two months.
If Ivan were to immediately write a stern letter rejecting the book and demanding its destruction, it would undoubtedly hurt Gryson's feelings and breed resentment.
Ivan understood that a divided team was hard to lead, so he had to handle this matter carefully!
"Then it can only be revised!" Ivan thought for a long time before finally making his decision.
After some deliberation, Ivan began to write. He started by praising Gryson for the progressive ideas expressed in the book and commending Gryson's accurate understanding and summarization of his own words.
However, Ivan also mentioned in the letter that he was not entirely satisfied with the first and second parts of the New Century Manifesto and needed them to be revised, suggesting that Gryson focus more on the ideology and reduce the elements of personal worship.
Yes, reduce, not completely remove!
While personal worship has many drawbacks, if controlled properly, it can still be useful.
For example, during the Muggles' world wars, both sides used this tactic, with the differences lying in the degree of application. The most extreme example was the mustachioed leader.
Ivan did not want to be deified, but he could act as a pioneer, using this identity and the ideas promoted in the New Century Manifesto to enhance the team's sense of belonging.
Unfortunately, compared to the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters, who had been operating for decades, his Wizards were a hastily assembled group from Knockturn Alley. To ensure their loyalty, he had to come up with some clever strategies.
In a way, Gryson was indeed a talented individual. The idea of using a pamphlet for indoctrination was good, but it was misdirected.
If Gryson were a Death Eater and modified the booklet to promote Pure-Blood Theory, Voldemort would be overjoyed and consider him a kindred spirit.
However, Ivan did not need such extreme ideas, so the content had to be reworked!
"Such a hassle," Ivan muttered to himself as he tossed the book aside, feeling troubled.
He was never one for management. He preferred to work alone, free from the worries of leading a group.
If not for Asia's misunderstanding, which led her to recruit extensively in Knockturn Alley, he would not have considered building a force.
Initially, his alliance with Fenrir and Walker, among other Werewolf Wizards, was merely to test the effectiveness of the Wolfsbane Potion and to guard against the malicious Dark Wizards in Knockturn Alley.
But now that things had come to this, Ivan had no choice but to push forward.
With his current strength, he was far from being able to match Voldemort, let alone rely on single combat to protect himself.
In the original timeline, McGonagall, Slughorn, and Kingsley had briefly held Voldemort at bay during the battle at Hogwarts. This description of the Wizards' combat showed that numbers were not entirely without value.
Having more trustworthy helpers around is certainly necessary, at least to help contain the numerous Death Eaters.
Ivan lay in bed, his mind weary, thinking about the Triwizard Cup to be held this year and Voldemort's bizarre snake-like face after his resurrection. He eventually drifted into a deep sleep after a long while.
The next morning.
Ivan was awakened by a commotion. Opening his eyes, he saw a group of small alchemical creatures knocking and tapping on the bedside table. Clearly, the noise he had heard was made by these little beings.
Ivan furrowed his brow, about to complain, but then he saw the "Little Turnips" pushing a large clock over.
The time read 10:20.
"Already this late!" Ivan's expression changed as he realized these alchemical creatures had kindly tried to wake him up.
"Thanks, Ukaka," Ivan said apologetically, quickly sitting up.
He dressed hurriedly, washed up in the bathroom, and then grabbed his trunk and the owl cage, rushing downstairs as fast as he could.
He had to hurry; the Hogwarts Express left at eleven, and he had already wasted several minutes getting ready.
Fortunately, he had packed everything a few days ago, so he didn't need to gather items at the last minute.
"See you next year, Ukaka!" Ivan rushed out the door, remembering to say goodbye as he closed it.
The alchemical creatures in the room waved at Ivan and made chirping sounds to bid farewell. Once the door was shut, they piled together to form a seventy-centimeter-tall little robot, as usual, to tidy up the bedroom and clean the room.
As they finished organizing the bedroom and putting everything back in place, the alchemical creatures noticed a book thrown into a corner and curiously gathered around it.
Meanwhile, Ivan walked downstairs and, passing through the living room, saw Nicolas Flamel coming out of the workshop.
"Hals, if I hadn't asked Ukaka to wake you, you would have missed the train this year," Nicolas Flamel said with a teasing glance at the wall clock.
"I'm sorry, Master. I was thinking too much last night!" Ivan scratched his head awkwardly. He had been thinking about Voldemort, and in his dreams, he saw that noseless, snake-like face, which almost scared him awake.
"Well, you'd better hurry then. I left some breakfast for you. Have a little before you go!" Nicolas Flamel smiled and pointed to the bowl of corn porridge and a few slices of bread on the table.
Ivan nodded, picked up the bowl of corn porridge, and gulped it down in one go. He grabbed a slice of bread and stuffed it into his mouth, running out while mumbling a goodbye to Nicolas Flamel.
"See you next year, Master!"
Nicolas Flamel watched Ivan's hurried departure with a chuckle, shaking his head but saying nothing more.
Running to the courtyard outside the cottage, Ivan focused on King's Cross Station, waved his wand, and cast the spell.
"Apparition!"
A spatial vortex immediately enveloped Ivan, whisking him away.
