Chapter 555: The Birth of Soul Society
Chapter 555: The Birth of Soul Society
The golden river of time flowed endlessly.
Feng Ye stood atop a golden wave, his figure towering as he rode the crest without sinking. With the waves, he swiftly traveled through the river's waters.
In the final year of his three-year transformation into the sun in the One-Punch Man world, he unlocked the seventh ability of the Illusionary Clock—a power that granted him a degree of autonomy in the golden river of time. With this ability, he could resist being easily subjugated by the forces of time.
This ability was...
Time Peel!
Its effect allowed Feng Ye to vanish from the present timeline and ascend beyond the confines of time itself. Any attack that did not transcend time would fail to hit him in this state.
To explain it simply, it was like a time-based version of Kamui.
Kamui created a void in the user's body, transferring them to a different dimension when they came into contact with an attack. Meanwhile, Time Peel transferred the user's body to a different point in time when they were about to be hit.
Naturally, Time Peel was far more powerful than Kamui. While there were many abilities that could pierce through dimensions, very few, almost non-existent, could penetrate time.
However,
Even with this ability, Feng Ye could only resist a portion of the river of time's power. He still couldn't resist its flow.
With his current time abilities, if he wanted to go back, to trace the past by swimming against the current, even a small distance would deplete all his temporal energy. So, he could only go with the flow.
"This seems like a good place."
Feng Ye didn't go too far.
After traveling a short distance atop the golden waves, he deactivated Time Peel and silently sank into the golden river, disappearing from view.
It seemed that after leaving the One-Punch Man world, he had only ridden the waves downstream for a short while. But in reality, an unknown span of time had passed, during which the universe might have been destroyed and reborn countless times.
Even though Feng Ye now possessed stellar-level power and had unlocked the seventh level of the Illusionary Clock, he still felt minuscule in the face of this vast and unfathomable dimension.
...
In the silent depths of space, a golden light flickered, and Feng Ye's figure emerged from the glow. Nearby, time began to ripple and quickly converged.
As the golden light faded, Feng Ye looked down and saw a blue planet quietly resting beneath him.
"Another Earth?"
Feng Ye furrowed his brows in thought. Then, a faint golden gleam appeared in his eyes as he quickly shifted his gaze downward to the planet below.
After his evolution in the One-Punch Man world, both his chakra and dojutsu had reached a new level. His dojutsu was no longer the Rinne Sharingan but had evolved into a different kind of eye technique, which Feng Ye called the God Eye.
He named it so because this eye possessed not only all the abilities of the Rinne Sharingan but also the power to create worlds.
The worlds it created were not like the single-element worlds that Hagoromo Otsutsuki had made. Instead, they could mix multiple elements, almost resembling the real world.
Life could be born in those worlds!
Creating worlds that could support life was no less than a godly power.
His eyes no longer held the blue glow or the intricate patterns. When he activated the power of the God Eye, a faint golden aura would radiate outward from his pupils, making it look like a golden Rinnegan.
"Hmm?"
Feng Ye activated the power of the God Eye and looked at the planet below. After observing it for a moment, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in surprise.
The planet below was indeed similar to Earth, and there were humans on it. However, they seemed extremely ancient, as if they were still in the Stone Age!
"This is a bit too..."
Feng Ye's lips twitched as he wasn't sure what to make of it. He felt that his method of time-traveling might need some adjustment.
Feng Ye had no interest in such ancient periods. Even though the beings on the planet could be considered human, their appearances and everything else were vastly different from modern humans, and there was no point in trying to communicate with them.
"Let's jump forward in time."
Feng Ye quickly calmed himself.
He had the ability to travel to the future, so it didn't matter if he ended up at such a distant point in time. He could simply jump ahead until he reached a future he was familiar with.
But,
Just as Feng Ye was about to leap into the future, he paused as a figure silently appeared beside him.
It was a male figure with peculiar eyes. His eyes lacked pupils, and instead, there was a pattern resembling a flag. He was also completely naked.
Feng Ye's eyebrows furrowed.
He could sense that this person possessed an immense power comparable to his own, or perhaps even greater.
The naked man looked at Feng Ye, his thoughts seeming sluggish as he asked,
"Who... are you?"
The words were not in any language Feng Ye was familiar with, but he could understand the man's meaning. At their level, language was not a barrier to communication.
Feng Ye looked at the man with a hint of curiosity. There was something vaguely familiar about him, yet he also felt like a stranger. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recall who this person was.
"And who are you?"
Feng Ye didn't answer the man's question directly but countered with one of his own after observing him for a while.
The man hesitated for a moment before replying, "I don't know who I am either... But ever since I gained consciousness, I've been here. Did you come from the stars?"
"Something like that," Feng Ye nodded. He was growing more and more curious about the man before him.
There was no trace of extraordinary power on the planet below, yet this man possessed energy that seemed even greater than Feng Ye's current level!
Who was this man?
He had awakened to existence on this planet.
However, the lives on this planet were all ordinary, none possessing strength comparable to his own. With his power, he could easily destroy the entire planet, or even obliterate the sun. In contrast, the frailty of these ordinary lives meant they could be extinguished by a mere hint of cold or heat.
"Me too," Feng Ye replied with a gentle smile, glancing at the man once more. "Since you were born here, you must be guarding this place. In that case, I won't disturb you any longer."
As Feng Ye turned to leave, the man hesitated again and called out to stop him. "Wait..."
"Yes?" Feng Ye stopped in his tracks and turned back.
The man hesitated once more before speaking. "If it's possible, I want to ask a favor of you."
"A favor?" Feng Ye asked, puzzled.
The man lowered his gaze to the blue planet below, his eyes deep and solemn. "They are too fragile. Their lives are snuffed out far too easily. I want to make it so their lives aren't so easily extinguished..."
Upon hearing the man's request, Feng Ye's expression turned thoughtful. "Then, why not bestow upon them a portion of your power?"
The fact that the man had such a thought meant that the future of the planet below would undoubtedly undergo significant changes, and it was clear that it would not become a mundane world.
"No," the man shook his head. "That won't do. Simply dividing and bestowing my power would be insufficient. It would only strengthen the individuals, and my power is not infinite. I cannot grant it to all life."
Feng Ye pondered this, then asked, "So?"
The man looked at Feng Ye and said, "So, I plan to use my power to create two more worlds. When the lives in this world come to an end, they can enter these two new worlds, and when they die there, they can return here once more..."
The man paused, stroking his head as if in thought. "I've never created a world before, so since you come from the distant stars, you must know more than I do. I hope you can help me with this."
Feng Ye hesitated for a moment, then smiled and agreed. "Alright!"
After all, he planned to stay in this world for a while, so he might as well see what the man intended to do with the planet below.
Now that he had obtained the God Eye, he had the power to create worlds, but he had not yet thoroughly tested this ability.
"Thank you," the man said, a friendly smile on his face. "Well... You can call me Zero."
Feng Ye nodded. "Call me Feng Ye."
...
Half a year later.
The azure planet remained in the starry sky, orbiting the sun.
However, if one were to look with a vision that could pierce through space, they would see that overlapping with this planet's space were two vastly larger spaces.
These two spaces appeared incredibly vast, far exceeding the area of the planet itself. They possessed various elements, resembling the real world.
The only difference was...
The essence of these two worlds was not made up of particles or matter, but of another fundamental substance that the man, Zero, had released from his body. He called it "spirit particles," the smallest building blocks of souls.
"It's almost complete, I think," Feng Ye said, standing high above one of the new worlds. He smiled at Zero, who was not far away. "All you need to do now is connect the outside planet with this one, and the energy of the lives that end there can enter this world in a different form."
"Hmm..."
Zero's gaze swept over the boundless expanse of land, a smile spreading across his face.
Then he turned to Feng Ye, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you. Without your help, it would have taken me hundreds or even thousands of times longer to accomplish this."
"You're welcome," Feng Ye replied with an easy smile. "It was a good opportunity for me to test my abilities as well."
Ninety-five percent of this new world was composed of Zero's power, with only five percent coming from Feng Ye. Feng Ye's power served a supplementary role, such as creating a barrier around the world's periphery to block the intrusion of spatial turbulence.
The foundation of the world itself was entirely constructed from Zero's power, which had caused Zero's remaining power to decrease to just one-third of its original amount.
However...
Even with only a third of his power remaining, Zero's strength was still slightly greater than Feng Ye's overall power! [...] If Zero were to evolve in the direction of time and space, he would become incredibly powerful!
"Let's give the world you've created a name," Feng Ye suggested, his eyes sweeping over the vast void as he smiled at Zero.
Zero placed a finger on his chin, his expression thoughtful. After a moment's consideration, he said, "Hmm... How about we call this one the Soul Society?"
"What?!"
Feng Ye's face twisted into a strange expression.
There was no need to guess anymore about which world this was—he knew exactly what it was. It was the world of—Death Gods!
And the identity of the man before him was equally clear: the creator of the Soul Society and the Hollow World, the supreme god who established the entire world, the master of the Seireitei, the Soul King!
So, he had accidentally helped create the Soul Society alongside the Soul King?
Feng Ye's expression was a mix of amusement and disbelief. If he were to leave now and travel forward to a million years in the future, would his name be remembered in the Soul Society of that time?
Over the past six months of world-building, he had learned a lot from Feng Ye, including his language and a plethora of other knowledge, even gaining a sense of human emotions.
"No, it's a good name," Feng Ye said with a smile, shaking his head. "How about the other world?"
Zero hesitated for a moment before replying, "You can name that one."
Although ninety-five percent of this new world was created using his body as the foundation, Feng Ye had contributed significantly with his God Eye power, adding and refining many aspects, and his energy constituted five percent of the world.
So, it was only fitting that Feng Ye name one of the two worlds.
"Then let's call it Hueco Mundo."
Feng Ye suggested without hesitation.
Zero mumbled to himself, a smile spreading across his face. "That's also a fitting name."
Feng Ye gave a soft laugh and, after one last glance at the two worlds, withdrew his gaze. "The worlds are now created. The rest you can easily manage on your own, and I should be on my way."
Zero wanted to keep Feng Ye by his side, but since Feng Ye had already helped him create the two worlds, he felt it was inappropriate to ask for further assistance in managing them.
"Where are you going?" Zero asked, looking at Feng Ye.
Feng Ye smiled casually. "To the future."
Zero's eyes widened slightly in surprise. "So, you have the ability to time-jump. Your mastery over time-based powers far exceeds mine."
Zero was intrigued by Feng Ye's ability, but not entirely surprised, as his own vision could also see into the past and future, and even alter future events.
Time, to him, was a tangible force.
"Time is truly a fearsome thing," Feng Ye said with a sigh. "You gained 'emotions' from your interaction with me, but they will be eroded by the passing of time. Even I cannot withstand its relentless flow."
Zero understood what Feng Ye meant. As beings of similar stature, he could surmise that his emotions would likely fade away over a span of a hundred thousand years, and after several million years, his consciousness would completely vanish.
Feng Ye intended to journey into the future, and if he were to leap a million years forward, his consciousness might no longer exist by then, leaving only his physical form as the world's pillar.
"But that's too far away, isn't it?"
Zero smiled. "For me, it's just the beginning. You haven't experienced a very long passage of time yet, I presume. I don't sense that ancient quality in you."
Feng Ye nodded slightly. "Then, until we meet again in the future."
Silence fell.
A golden, illusory clock appeared in Feng Ye's eyes, and his entire body was enveloped in a golden radiance before disappearing from the spot.
Ordinary people couldn't see that golden light, as it was the power of time, but Zero could. He witnessed Feng Ye using that spot as a starting point to leap into the future.
"Until we meet again in the future," Zero murmured to himself, then withdrew his gaze.
He looked at the now-populated Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, took a deep breath, and his figure vanished from the spot, reappearing in the human world.
Zero spread his arms wide, and the energies of Soul Society and Hueco Mundo surged into the human world, merging with it in a silent hum.
At that moment.
Soul Society and Hueco Mundo came to life as the souls of those who had passed away in the human world were guided into these new realms, beginning their second lives.
Zero watched with satisfaction as the souls of those who had died in the human world entered the afterlife realms of Soul Society and Hueco Mundo. He then silently returned to Soul Society.
He arrived at the highest point of Soul Society.
Now that Soul Society and Hueco Mundo had begun their operations, it was time for him, as the creator of these worlds, to establish a proper dwelling for himself.
After a brief moment, Zero reached out and pushed upwards, causing the space to fold in layers upon layers, creating innumerable folds. Within these folded layers of space, he carved out a small space for himself.
"Hmm... Let's call this place the Royal Palace!" Zero declared.
He had named himself Zero, and as the creator of Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, the title of Soul King was befitting. Naturally, his dwelling place would be known as the Royal Palace.
Feng Ye might have to divide his life into segments, jumping through time to experience them one by one, but Zero felt no such need. He would simply live his life from this moment onwards.
If Feng Ye didn't jump too far into the future,
they might meet again.
...
In the golden void.
Here, there was no concept of space, only the passage of time. Enveloped in a golden radiance, Feng Ye swiftly traveled through the flowing river of time.
Even though the seventh notch of the Illusory Clock had been unlocked, enhancing its powers significantly, allowing him to leap nearly a thousand years into the future with each jump, it still felt like a short distance.
After each leap, Feng Ye would have to pause in this void, waiting for the Illusory Clock's energy to recover before making the next jump.
"This journey is indeed quite lengthy," Feng Ye mused to himself.
In hindsight, he should have moved a little further along the river of time before making the initial jump. Even a small shift in the temporal river could have easily spanned a million years.
Now, he had to make multiple jumps, like a train traveling to the world's end, stopping at every station but without disembarking, only conversing with Lillith along the way.
Speaking of Lillith, she might also be remembered in the history of Soul Society, as she had made a small contribution by creating a little domain of her own within Hueco Mundo.
Two thousand years...
Three thousand years...
Four thousand years...
Feng Ye continued to leap through time, an unknown number of times.
Finally.
Time had brought him a million years into the future, to the era of the Soul Society!
