Chapter 554: A Sour and Sweet Kiss (Second Update)
Chapter 554: A Sour and Sweet Kiss (Second Update)
After leaving the tents plastered with Jerry's photos, the group made their way to the bustling center of the campsite.
This area not only featured various interesting magic shows but also offered a wide array of witch cuisine and magical items from different countries.
Everyone had woken up early today and hadn't had breakfast, so the sight of all the delicious food made their stomachs growl.
"Pick whatever you want; I'm buying today!"
Knowing that, apart from Harry, everyone else had only a few Galleons, Jerry generously waved his hand.
Hearing that Jerry was treating them, everyone cheered and rushed in.
They knew Jerry was truly a big spender. The cost of breakfast was nothing to him, just a drop in the ocean.
Originally, Jerry should have been the poorest among them. Born in a Muggle orphanage, he had even needed scholarships to pay for his tuition, and it would take years to pay off those debts after graduation.
But there was no denying his excellence!
Not only did he become the first and only player in history to be exceptionally recruited into the national Quidditch team during his school years, but he also published his own magic books.
Just his monthly salary and royalties from the books had already made his vault of Galleons surpass the lifetime assets of most adult witches.
Watching everyone disperse to find their favorite foods, Jerry smiled and shook his head. He then took Hermione by the hand and started wandering around the various food stalls.
Before long, they had a collection of magical foods they had never seen before.
" Sour and sweet, it's delicious! Jerry, try one!"
Hermione took a bite of a "Blushing Candy Skewer" she had just bought from a Chinese witch, her eyes lighting up with happiness. She then immediately offered the skewer to Jerry.
Jerry opened his mouth and bit into one, his eyes brightening.
" The taste is indeed great!"
They took turns, one by one, and soon the skewer was down to the last piece.
Hermione bit off the last piece from the wooden stick, but before she could fully chew it, she slipped and started to fall backward.
Fortunately, Jerry's body and reflexes were Superman-like. Seeing Hermione about to fall, he instantly reached out with his right hand, supporting her waist, and looked down with concern.
" Are you hurt? "
Seeing Jerry's face, only a few centimeters away, Hermione's heart began to race. She couldn't help but lean up and press her lips to his.
However, because she still had a piece of the candy skewer in her mouth, what ended up touching Jerry's lips was the candy skewer.
They stared at each other, wide-eyed!
Jerry instinctively bit the other half of the candy skewer, unsure of what to do next.
With his reflexes, he could have easily dodged when Hermione leaned up, but for some reason, he didn't.
" It's too sour. You can have the last piece! "
Hermione, now realizing what had happened, quickly let go of the candy skewer and hurriedly stood up.
She felt like finding a crack in the ground to hide in.
In that moment, if they had really kissed, it might have been fine. At least Jerry didn't seem to mind, and it might have happened.
But a candy skewer had gotten in the way, making the situation incredibly awkward. She could only come up with the most pathetic excuse to cover it up.
" It is a bit sour. Let's try something else! "
Seeing Hermione's face turn bright red, Jerry laughed after realizing what had happened. He didn't expose her, instead finishing the candy skewer in his mouth and pretending to take her unreliable explanation seriously.
This allowed the embarrassed Hermione to breathe a slight sigh of relief.
"Jerry, Hermione, we're done buying!"
At that moment, Harry, Ron, and Ginny approached, each holding unfamiliar Magic Cuisine.
"Jerry, Hermione, why are your faces so red?"
Ginny looked at Hermione suspiciously, then at Jerry, a thoughtful smile spreading across her face.
As Hermione's best friend, she naturally understood Hermione's little quirks and had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
"Did you get cold this morning?"
"Maybe you have a fever?"
Harry and Ron asked in concern one after the other.
Ginny rolled her eyes at this.
Clearly, her crush and his brother, both about to start their fourth year, were still as clueless as ever. How could they not see something so obvious?
"No, we just ate a Blushing Candy Skewer from China. It makes your face turn red after you eat it."
Seeing Hermione's face turn even redder, Jerry stepped forward with a smile to explain.
Harry and Ron understood immediately, but Ginny still looked skeptical.
"By the way, what did you buy?"
To save Hermione from further embarrassment, Jerry quickly changed the subject.
Harry and Ron immediately began describing the various magical foods they had purchased.
There was the Indian Fire Curry that made you breathe fire, the Japanese Seafood Sushi Roll that temporarily turned your head into various seafood heads, and the American Popcorn Pop that made your mouth continuously pop.
After trying all these unique foods, everyone started looking at the various Magic Items with all sorts of functions.
Finally, as noon approached, they returned to the Weasleys' Magic Tent.
Mrs. Weasley, who had already packed up and come over, had prepared a hearty lunch for them.
The Weasleys' Burrow was also in Devon, not too far from the current campsite. With Mrs. Weasley's magical abilities, she could easily Phantom Shift over without needing a Portkey.
After enjoying a hearty lunch, everyone sat outside the Magic Tent, chatting like other Witches, while Mrs. Weasley returned home to feed the livestock.
Not far from the Weasleys' Magic Tent was a road leading to the Quidditch Pitch, where Ministry of Magic officials often hurried by.
However, most of them would stop and greet Arthur warmly when they saw him.
Arthur would then introduce Jerry, Hermione, and Harry to the officials, mentioning their names and positions at the Ministry of Magic.
"Hey, old friend Arthur, look at this lovely weather. How about placing a bet on the match?"
Around four or five in the afternoon, a middle-aged, plump Witch with a spring in her step, carrying a large bag full of Galleons, approached Arthur.
Ludo Bagman, one of the best Seekers in England a decade ago, was now in the business of sports betting.
