Chapter 553: Kun?
Chapter 553: Kun?
A rare and challenging mission like this, I hope it's just this once, and please don't come looking for me again next time...
Just as Atifi 00 was wrapped in paint and entered the painting, returning to the banquet of that year, Leon cautiously stepped into the Cooling Lake behind Zone 1 Research Facility, treading upon the slightly chaotic currents.
"Don't worry, just boldly move forward, and there usually won't be any issues."
Sensing Leon's tension, Mona's soul emerged and proactively spoke to reassure him:
"Regardless of what stands in the way, my Thousand Sails Sea Country can clear a path. If it weren't for the Death Messenger's interference earlier, it could even temporarily transcend life and death.
This is just a small lake. As long as you reserve a bit of strength and ensure the effect of Thousand Sails Sea Country doesn't suddenly stop, you'll definitely not be submerged by the lake."
"Mmm."
After responding, Leon opened his mouth,
"I'm not worried about being submerged by the lake, but about being detected by the abnormality-detecting instruments. If we're intercepted by Scorpion Director before we destroy the automaton, Princess Felicia's coup will become a joke."
"You don't need to worry too much about that."
After listening to Leon's concerns, Frankie also spoke up, speculating:
"Among the abnormal objects that Director Edward frequently uses, there are mostly rule-based and offensive ones. The few defensive ones are also mostly single-target, lacking large-scale defense measures.
The automaton of Corlock Kingdom is very large, and there will always be areas it can't defend. Even if we're intercepted by the director's puppet, our goal of destroying the automaton is still achievable."
"I hope so."
Leon, not very confident, narrowed his eyes and gazed at the huge circular shadow at the bottom of the Cooling Lake, slightly frowning:
"Elder Robin, what are the abnormal objects does Director Edward frequently use?
1. 1:
"The director has a very special abnormal object called Puppet Between, which can strengthen puppets and dolls, ensuring they can't be destroyed by any means. That's why he loves collecting various doll-like abnormal objects."
After listening to Leon's question, Robin's soul also emerged and answered:
"The most frequently used abnormal object is a thorn-covered white puppet. Anyone seen by this puppet will be forcibly transformed into the same puppet as long as their Leon value is lower than the director's, and they'll receive the same damage as the white puppet."
The next frequently used one is a cross puppet board with numerous transparent threads hanging from it. If touched by those threads, one would lose control of their body and become a puppet under the director's control.
Then there are over a dozen puppets with various effects, either with unique transformations or for different emergency situations and environments."
"What about in the sea?"
"Not very clear about the sea."
Purifier Mona shook her head:
"Director Edward hasn't taken us on many missions, and we haven't gone into the sea with him. But he once mentioned that he does have corresponding doll-like abnormal objects."
"I see."
Leon nodded, then pointed downward at the huge shadow, his brows furrowed:
"Is that thing down there the abnormal object your director uses in the water?"
Stage 2:
Hearing Leon's question, the three Purifiers from Scorpio Bureau couldn't help but pause, then simultaneously looked down and gasped in surprise.
As Lyon delved deeper into the Cooling Lake, the massive circular shadow beneath it finally revealed its true form.
The cybernetic entity Lyon and his team were searching for was not what they expected. It was an enormous fish-like creature, vertically suspended deep within the lake.
In the dim light of the lake's bottom, Lyon observed the creature's streamlined body, surprisingly composed entirely of wood, coated with waterproof paint. Its pectoral fins were astonishingly large, tightly pressed against its belly, gleaming with a subtle metallic luster.
The crescent-shaped, flat caudal fin below was made of an unknown, peculiar material, neither stone nor jade, appearing incredibly heavy. With each slight swing, it stirred the lake's waters, causing them to surge.
"This is too big!" Lyon exclaimed, gazing at the creature, whose total length exceeded twenty meters, its size resembling an eight-story building in the form of a terrifying doll... a fish doll. The four of them couldn't help but feel a chill run down their spines.
Even among the Aberration Purifiers, capable of underwater combat against such massive creatures, there were few. Moreover, this was a puppet-enhanced Aberration, virtually indestructible.
Given its anticipated strength and hardness, if this thing caught up and slapped them, even those made of iron would likely be flattened into thin pancakes!
What's more, before Lyon could react, the formidable puppet fish had already sensed their presence. It opened its metal pectoral fins, slicing through the lake's bottom currents, and then swiftly swept downward, surging upwards in an instant!
"Robin!" Lyon exclaimed, not hesitating to use his trump card. He gulped down a bottle of wine and threw a handful of hazelnut-sized seeds with shells.
"Mona, now!"
In response to Mona's anxious reminder, Robin's weak soul suddenly ignited. The seeds Lyon had thrown, instantly expanded dramatically, transforming into numerous hard fruits the size of small tabletops in the blink of an eye.
Meanwhile, Frankie, prepared in advance, swiftly cast a net of transparent threads, stringing together these oddly-shaped giant fruits to form a massive net with weights hanging from its edges.
"Boom!"
The enormous fish, seemingly blind, charged headlong into the net without hesitation, only slightly reducing its speed. It continued to ram into the net, pushing against the hundred tabletop-sized weights.
"How is this possible?!"
Working together, Lyon and Frankie could only slightly impede the fish's advance, leaving Robin astonished.
Those were the seeds Lyon had specifically chosen! Even without Frankie's net, the combined weight of the seeds' shells, each capable of sinking, was substantial. How could the fish continue its upward charge while carrying such a heavy burden?
"I'll handle this!"
With no one maintaining the [Smooth Path Forward], the path they had created in the lake was already half-shattered by the fish's disturbance, causing water to seep in from all sides.
Seizing the opportunity during the fish's brief slowdown, Lyon, empowered by the wine, tightly gripped the [Severing Silver Dagger] and dove into the water, slashing at the oncoming whale's head.
