Chapter 553: Hogwarts is a Suitable Place, Isn't It?
Chapter 553: Hogwarts is a Suitable Place, Isn't It?
Ivan recalled how confident he had been when he assured Nicolas Flamel that he would quickly learn Magic. His face turned slightly embarrassed.
No wonder Nicolas Flamel had only smiled at the time without saying anything. Now it was clear that the other party knew this special Alchemy method wasn't easy to master.
Ivan looked at the discarded items scattered on the workbench, shook his head in helplessness, glanced at the sky outside the window, which was gradually darkening, and then touched his empty stomach. He put down the engraving knife in his hand.
Though troubled, Ivan knew the importance of balancing work and rest.
After tidying up the cluttered Workshop, Ivan took a book and made his way to the living room, ready to enjoy today's Dinner.
Nicolas Flamel was already waiting there.
"How's it going? Any progress?" Seeing Ivan walk over with a worried expression, Nicolas Flamel, who was eating a pastry, turned and asked.
Ivan walked straight to the opposite seat, grabbed a piece of pumpkin pie, and took a few bites, speaking in a muffled tone.
"I've tried many times, but it still doesn't work. I feel like something is missing."
"Is that so?" Nicolas Flamel said with a smile, not at all surprised.
Guiding and utilizing one's emotions to infuse a certain Will into an Alchemical Item is a highly advanced form of Alchemy. There are only a handful of Alchemical Masters in the entire Wizarding World who can do this.
If Ivan could master it in just over a month, other alchemists who have spent decades studying it would be ashamed to the point of suicide.
In fact, when he saw Ivan struggling, Nicolas Flamel felt a bit relieved, as the young witches and wizards' learning speed had been too fast!
What ordinary Wizards needed to study for several months, Ivan could grasp in just a week.
If these alchemical techniques hadn't been compiled and kept secret by Nicolas Flamel over the years, he might have suspected that Ivan had learned them in advance and was just pretending.
"Master, is there no easier way?" Ivan, unaware of Nicolas Flamel's thoughts, asked with a frown.
Nicolas Flamel raised an eyebrow, his expression becoming more serious. "Hals, I need to remind you that Alchemy is an extremely precise discipline. Relying on shortcuts will not lead to genuine progress."
Ivan's heart sank, realizing he had said the wrong thing. He was about to apologize, but Nicolas Flamel waved his hand to interrupt him.
"You've been too eager these past few days. At your age, you have plenty of time to learn. Improvement in Alchemy requires years of accumulation, not just short-term effort!" Nicolas Flamel said earnestly.
In the past month, while amazed at Ivan's learning ability, Nicolas Flamel had also been puzzled by his diligence.
At this age, young witches and wizards should be more interested in playing, right?
When Ivan asked about the Magic Television, Nicolas Flamel had been worried that he might get hooked on Muggle cartoons. But it turned out that the Magic Television hadn't been turned on even once since then.
Nicolas Flamel couldn't figure out the reason, so he attributed it to Ivan's maturity and self-control.
"I understand, Master!" Ivan nodded, quickly readjusting his demeanor. Indeed, he had been overly anxious these past few days.
However, he couldn't be blamed for it. The pressure from the Prophecy and the restless Dark Wizards in Knockturn Alley were forcing Ivan to rapidly enhance his own strength.
Otherwise, if he encountered a powerful enemy that he couldn't deal with in a short time, the combat strength he had been faking with the help of blood magic and enhanced Runic Inscriptions, which consumed a massive amount of magical energy, would be instantly exposed!
At that point, who knew if these Dark Wizards would still listen? If they collectively retaliated or plotted something behind the scenes, it would be a serious problem.
Therefore, Ivan believed that improving his strength was absolutely urgent!
However, in terms of Magic, his most proficient skill, Transfiguration, had become increasingly difficult to improve after reaching level six. Recently, his progress had nearly stagnated, and he couldn't find a way forward.
Fortunately, Nicolas Flamel was willing to teach him Alchemy, so Ivan decided to explore this area for a breakthrough.
After all, Alchemy, like Magic, is a method of utilizing Magic. Both ultimately aim to transform Wizards into gods who embody the principle "As the mind imagines, so it becomes"!
Injecting one's Will into an Alchemical Item to achieve a certain effect is somewhat similar to the state of casting spells through sheer willpower. Ivan believed that if he could advance his Alchemy to level seven, it would significantly aid his other magical skills.
Of course, Ivan didn't voice these thoughts but kept them to himself. His experiences in Knockturn Alley had taught him the importance of knowing when to keep quiet. Sometimes, saying too much in front of intelligent people could lead to unforeseen consequences.
After a few more words of advice, Nicolas Flamel didn't say anything more and instead placed a letter in front of Ivan.
Ivan curiously picked up the envelope and noticed the Hogwarts crest on it, immediately guessing its contents.
"This was delivered by Fawkes the Phoenix. I believe Albus wants to remind you not to miss the train to Hogwarts. You've been here for a month and a half, and the school year is about to start", Nicolas Flamel said with a smile.
"So soon?" Ivan muttered, opening the envelope to read it.
The contents were the same as usual, informing him to go to King's Cross Station on September 1st to board the train to Hogwarts, with the book list for the upcoming year attached at the end.
Despite the imminent start of the school year, Ivan wasn't particularly happy. Given his current level of Magic, there wasn't much more Hogwarts could teach him.
Most importantly, without Nicolas Flamel's guidance, his progress in Alchemy would likely slow down significantly, and he would have to wait another year to break through his current bottleneck.
"Hals, blindly mechanical learning won't provide you with much help, nor will it allow you to experience the intense and pure power. If you've never experienced it, how can you use it?" Nicolas Flamel asked.
Hearing this, Ivan fell into deep thought.
Nicolas Flamel then pointed to the envelope in Ivan's hand and continued, "Hogwarts is a very suitable place for you, isn't it?"
