Chapter 552: Kuro!!!
Chapter 552 Kuro!!!
These words made Klah struggle to lift his head, his gaze sweeping around.
The massive gates of the Navy’s port warehouse had been shattered. Where the corridor once stood before the entrance now lay buried under metal debris and stone fragments. The surrounding walls were riddled with holes or completely collapsed. The load-bearing pillars had caved in, leaving the upper sections of the structure unstable—parts of the building had crumbled entirely. Through a gaping hole in the ceiling, Klah could see the open sky. The fortress base’s sides had also been blown open, revealing the outside landscape.
But this wasn’t the most terrifying part.
Because Klah saw something familiar amidst the ruins.
It was Mr. Kuro’s desk and chair, lying silently amidst the metal and stone fragments.
His eyes twitched with madness.
He’d gotten too caught up in the earlier battle, forgetting they were still inside the base.
“Lida.” Klah pleaded, looking at her.
“You expect me to be useless.”
Lida shook her head. “In this environment, you’re definitely the one getting beaten. But I don’t want to get scolded either. Kuro’s face when he’s angry is the worst. So—”
She turned toward Luffy’s crew, walking toward them calmly. “To avoid getting scolded, you should all stay here. After all, you’re the ones who caused chaos on this island and destroyed the base.”
“Hey, don’t block us, you little girl!”
Usopp stepped forward confidently, pulling out a hammer marked with “50T” from somewhere. He brandished it threateningly. “We’re dangerous pirates! You’d better back off, little girl! This is a fifty-ton iron hammer—I guarantee it’ll hurt!”
He swung the hammer. “Move aside, or this hammer’s coming down on you!”
“This guy…”
Luffy, however, suddenly froze as he looked at her.
Lida stared at Usopp expressionlessly, then sighed. “Idiot.”
Whoosh!
“Usopp, watch out! That woman—”
Bang!
Lida instantly flashed in front of Usopp. Her hand shot out from her pocket, and her fist slammed into his abdomen, burying itself deep.
The punch bent Usopp double, his eyes and tongue bulging out. He clutched his stomach, staggering backward, foaming at the mouth, trembling as he collapsed.
“Usopp!”
Luffy roared, his arm stretching out at lightning speed.
Lida didn’t budge, raising her hand to intercept Luffy’s fist.
Smack!
But just as the fist neared, Lida’s hand suddenly dropped, catching Usopp and yanking him back.
“Be careful! That woman’s strong! I saw her in Arabasta with Ace—she can absorb physical strength. Her name’s… Lida.” Luffy warned, his guard up.
“Hey!”
Klah protested, glaring upward. “Why do you remember her after just one meeting, but can’t remember me?!”
Robin looked at Lida, surprised. “Lida? Flo Lida? The White Whale? The famous Navy Commander is just a little girl?”
“I’m the White Butterfly! Kuro kept changing my name, and you’re still using that nickname?” Lida shot Robin an irritated glare. “And I’m not small!”
Suddenly, she transformed into her mature form. Her growing frame tore through her clothes, revealing her slender waist. The overalls’ elastic held, though barely.
“Oh! I remember!”
Sanji’s eyes turned to hearts at the sight. “She’s that Navy miss we met in Loguetown!”
Back in Loguetown, when Klah struggled against the two of them, Lida had intervened, blocking their attack. A rare silver-haired beauty—Sanji’s memory of her was vivid.
“One after another! Why are you stopping me from leaving the island?!” Luffy shouted.
“Ask yourself! Kuro never wanted to deal with you, probably because you’re Garp’s grandson. If you’d just left quietly on another ship, you’d be gone by now.”
Lida smirked at Luffy. “Honestly, I’m curious about you. Kuro always gets this look like he’s seeing a fly whenever your name comes up—annoying, impossible to shoo away.”
“But even as Garp’s grandson, why would Kuro react like that? He’s almost as bad as when he faces Kas. What ability makes Kuro consider you a nuisance?”
“It’s got nothing to do with my grandfather! But if you’re stopping me, I’ll just beat you up!”
Luffy clenched his fist, his expression serious.
Lida smiled. She relaxed her arms, spreading them wide. Her left foot stepped forward, aligning with her right in a straight line.
“I’m not like Klah. I don’t waste time in battle.”
“Black Rope Heaven Flash.”
In an instant, her figure vanished.
As she disappeared, Luffy’s bent arm, wrapped in Armament Haki, shot forward to block.
Sanji leapt back, positioning himself in front of Nami, his legs bent, Armament Haki flaring defensively.
Zoro appeared before Chopper, dual blades drawn, blocking forward.
At that moment, afterimages appeared before them, colliding with their defensive stances.
Only Franky and Brook were caught. Robin, behind Franky, dodged safely.
“Yohoho! I’m out of energy!”
Brook collapsed, his butt sticking up. “No energy left! So scary! No energy at all—even though I’m a skeleton, yohohoho!”
He stood up again.
“Hmm? Did all of you block my ability?”
Lida’s voice came from behind Luffy.
In an instant, Luffy spun around, his Haki-covered fist flying.
Smack!
Lida caught the punch, pulling Luffy forward with a tug. Her other hand struck his face in a palm strike.
Whoosh!
The wind roared.
Lida’s hand suddenly shifted sideways, blocking Zoro’s incoming dual blades with her Haki-infused arm.
“That’s Huazhou, right? Kuro’s old sword.” Lida asked, eyeing the blade in Zoro’s right hand.
But then, Luffy’s other fist came flying.
Lida calmly swung both hands, releasing a massive force that sent both men flying.
“Yohoho! I’ll help!”
Brook charged, pulling the end of his violin to reveal a sword. “Girl, take a nap—Hypnotic Waltz!”
“Essence Impact!”
Lida fired a shockwave from her palm, sending Brook flying.
“You!”
From behind, the massive Franky raised his metal fist, slamming down. “Pass out! Franky Karate Punch!”
Bang!
The giant fist met a tiny palm.
Lida blocked it with one hand, looking up at Franky with a smirk.
“Such strength!” Franky exclaimed.
“Metal, huh? No wonder my ability doesn’t work.”
Lida tightened her five fingers. With a crunch, Franky’s metal fist shattered, her fingers embedding deep.
“Franky! Wacha!”
Chopper transformed into his Rumble Ball form, bouncing rapidly toward her.
But Lida tightened her grip, lifting Franky’s arm—and his entire body—with ease, hurling him at Chopper.
Bang!
Franky crashed into Chopper, both collapsing.
Luffy’s crew scattered around Lida in a circle.
She glanced around, shrugging. “At this level, you still dared to break in. You—”
“Third Gear!”
Before she finished, Luffy’s voice erupted from her side.
“Giant Elephant Gun!”
A massive fist, cloaked in Armament Haki, rocketed toward her.
Lida’s pupils narrowed. She leapt, propelling herself mid-air, dodging the punch.
That punch was not meant to be blocked.
“Three Sword Style, Tatsu!”
Zoro’s voice came from behind.
Biting down on Shodai, Zoro’s left hand wielded Huazhou, his right Sandai Kitetsu. A dragon’s head phantom engulfed him, charging at Lida.
“Ryuu!”
“Essence!”
Lida curled her body, then exploded outward.
A powerful essence shockwave radiated from her, countering Zoro’s slash, freezing him mid-air.
Lida spun mid-air, her foot slamming toward Zoro’s head.
Zoro hurriedly raised his blades to block.
Bang!
Her foot struck the blades, the force sending him crashing down, kicking up smoke and dust.
Lida twisted mid-air, landing beside Klah, her gaze heavy.
This was getting tough…
She glanced at her foot—there was a faint red mark from the kick.
These people, especially Luffy and the green-haired guy, were proving difficult.
The smoke cleared, Zoro stepping out, his blades raised.
“A tough woman. I’ll have to get serious.” Zoro growled.
Franky stood again. “She’s got strength!”
Chopper gave the unconscious Usopp a serum, reviving him. Usopp immediately pulled out his slingshot, aiming with Chopper.
Nami drew her Clima-Tact, standing with Robin.
Brook laughed from the side. “Yohohoho!”
“I won’t attack a lady.” Sanji said, stepping forward. “But please move aside, beautiful miss. Pain isn’t pleasant. My crewmates are all rough men.”
Luffy cracked his left fist, stepping ahead with a grin. “I’m definitely leaving!”
A group of fierce pirates glared at the lone, beautiful Navy officer holding her ground.
The scene felt… off.
Even if Lida wasn’t losing.
“So many of you against me?”
Lida stared. “Gang up on me?”
“What’s ‘gang up’? We’re pirates—we don’t play fair.”
Usopp said. “Move aside, or Usopp-sama will get serious! It’ll be terrifying! This time, I’ll use a 100-ton hammer!”
“Is that so?”
Lida thought, shrinking back to her young girl form.
“What? She’s reasonable after all!”
Luffy blinked, grinning. “Thanks! We’ll leave now!”
“Leave?”
Lida smirked, suddenly inhaling deeply. “Kuro!!!”
Instinctively, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji turned in unison, cold sweat dripping.
“What’s wrong?!”
Usopp looked that way, shivering.
Thud.
A rubble flew, rolling on the ground, accompanied by footsteps.
From the hole in the base’s side, a figure emerged.
He wore a black coat with a fur-lined collar, his chest exposed, smoke swirling around his face, obscuring his features.
As he approached, his black hair revealed a sharp, handsome face.
The man, biting a cigar, walked slowly.
“What’s going on?”
He scanned the ruins, his voice deep, heavy—
As gloomy as his expression.
