Chapter 551: Spell Practice Society
Chapter 551: Spell Practice Society
"Midnight Society? Was that the name of the old student club?" Harry asked. "What do you think they did?"
"Definitely the same as us, studying how to learn!" Michael said dismissively.
Parvati Patil pursed her lips and said, "A club like that didn't last, while the Gobstones Club has been around for years. It's really ridiculous... What do you think, Hermione?"
Hermione stroked her chin thoughtfully. "Starting a club... that might not be a bad idea."
"What kind of club?" Parvati Patil pressed. "Are you planning to start one?"
"Why not? It's the right thing to do", Hermione said slowly. "Class exploitation is the root of social inequality. Even house-elves should have equal rights... Slave labor is absolutely wrong and unacceptable!"
"What's unacceptable?"
Hermione's voice was low, and Parvati Patil didn't hear her clearly, so she asked again.
Hermione suddenly grabbed her hand, her eyes shining. "Parvati Patil, if I start a new club, you'll definitely join, right?"
Her expression seemed to have finally found her life's purpose, but this sudden enthusiasm made Parvati Patil shrink back, weakly responding, "...Ah?"
Meanwhile, Wade had finished examining the wooden sign, gripped the bronze handle, and pulled open the door.
A herbal scent of magic cleaning agents wafted in, as the classroom had just been cleaned, making the air feel somewhat damp.
Perhaps considering the need for spell practice, the room had a blackboard but no desks or chairs. Instead, there was a circle of targets for spell practice around the room.
The classroom was already filled with people, and they all turned to look as the door opened.
Students from Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and even Slytherin were present. Of course, the Slytherins were the fewest. In their year, only Daphne Greengrass, dragged along by her sister, stood in a corner with a tense expression, looking unwelcoming.
Seeing the crowded scene, several people who had followed Wade stopped in their tracks, looking somewhat nervous.
"So many people?" Harry swallowed, whispering, "I thought there would be at most a dozen or so."
The classroom looked to have at least forty to fifty people.
"It seems more people want to learn spells than we expected", Michael said, stroking his chin. "These guys are probably planning to use what they learn in the Tournament, right?"
"Then Wade is essentially training his own opponents", Parvati Patil muttered, forgetting about Hermione's idea of starting a club.
After a brief pause, Wade continued forward, and everyone's eyes followed his steps.
The students who had given up their free time to come here clearly respected Wade's magical abilities. No one questioned him or challenged him recklessly.
In contrast, the students present were more nervous, fidgeting and adjusting their collars or smoothing out their clothes, and some even avoided his gaze.
Anthony Goldstein quickly approached, smiling. "You're here! We've all been waiting for you, Wade."
He leaned in and whispered, "These Slytherins also helped set up the classroom. If you spend some time with them, you'll find not all Slytherins are detestable."
Wade: "..."
Actually, he had no particular issue with Slytherin as a whole; he was more concerned with certain individuals' behavior, not the entire house.
However, at Hogwarts, any behavior seemed to easily get labeled by house. Even though the situation had improved in recent years, the long-standing opposition and discrimination were not easily erased.
Wade nodded at Anthony Goldstein, then walked through the crowd to the front of the room.
This practice room was like any other classroom, with a raised platform at the front. Wade stepped up, turned to face everyone, and said in a calm voice, "Good evening, everyone."
"Though we come from different houses and different years, I believe we all share the same goal here—"
"To master more magical knowledge, improve our spellcasting skills, and in the upcoming Tournament of Magic Schools, win victory and honor for Hogwarts and ourselves!"
"So in the Spell Practice Society, we will focus on practical spells—Protego (Shield Charm), Expelliarmus (Disarming Charm), Episkey (Healing Charm), Stupefy (Stunner), Depulso (Banishing Charm)... Whether these spells are beyond your current level, they will be our primary focus."
"However, before we begin, we need to establish some rules. Those who cannot abide by them can leave, and those who violate them... I will ask them to leave."
Wade scanned the room, pausing to see if anyone had objections. Seeing none, he continued in a clear and authoritative voice:
"First, no one is to cast spells on others without permission. No harmful or insulting spells, and no pranks during others' practice sessions."
Wade's gaze fell on the Weasley Twins, who both opened their mouths wide in exaggerated, comical disbelief.
A few light laughs rippled through the crowd, then quickly died down.
"Second, there are no house divisions here. You may have to practice with anyone. If you cannot accept this, complain, give the silent treatment, or argue and fight during practice, I will ask you to leave."
Some students looked like they wanted to protest, but they closed their mouths when Wade's gaze passed over them.
Wade finished the remaining rules in one breath:
"Third, those who have mastered a spell are obligated to help others practice, just as I am willing to help you. This applies regardless of house or year."
"Fourth, if anyone has questions about my teaching methods or thinks there are better ways to learn, they can discuss it with me privately, but they cannot interrupt my lessons arbitrarily."
"Fifth, the Spell Practice Society is not mandatory. Those who do not wish to continue can leave at any time. Those who were not here today are welcome to join. But whoever enters this practice room must follow my rules."
"Any questions?"
He scanned the room, his gaze carrying a serene and commanding presence. Everyone instinctively straightened their backs, and their breathing became light and slow.
