Chapter 550: The Strongest Monster vs. Serious Assault
Chapter 550: The Strongest Monster vs. Serious Assault
A brief moment of silence ensued.
All the S-class heroes stared at the God Tree Pain, who stood before them.
"Although we don't know the specifics, it seems that guy has devoured all the monsters. In other words, we just need to take him down," Zombie Man said, holding a mace and glancing at God Tree Pain with a glint in his eyes.
"So, if we take care of him, I can finally go back and watch my sister's piano recital," Metal Bat added, resting his bat on his shoulder as he turned to face God Tree Pain.
"Don't get complacent!" warned Child Emperor, his expression grave. "By consuming all those monsters, his power has likely reached unimaginable levels."
"That may be true..." Atomic Samurai interjected, a toothpick between his teeth as he tilted his head back. "But with all our opponents gone, we have no choice but to gang up on him."
Bang stepped forward, his gaze fixed on God Tree Pain. "I heard your last group assault didn't go so well," he remarked calmly.
"That's in the past now," Flashy Flash asserted, his tone steady. "Since then, I've undergone intense training, and I'm far stronger than I was back then."
"Me too," asserted Tanktop Master, flexing his biceps. "I've mastered Angel Freestyle and Angel Hair. I won't lose as easily as before."
"I also changed my vest..." Vest Master piped in. "Anyway, let's do this together."
As Vest Master stepped forward, Tanktop Master, Superalloy Darkshine, Flashy Flash, and Atomic Samurai followed suit, closing in on God Tree Pain and surrounding him.
The only one who remained still was the cyborg Genos, his eyes fixed on the sky above, where Feng Ye and Lily's battle raged on. A furrowed brow betrayed his deep thoughts.
"Ah, it's better if you don't come any closer," Saitama remarked, noticing the advancing S-class heroes. He glanced at the others briefly.
But Atomic Samurai smirked and retorted, "How can we let you face the final monster alone? That wouldn't make us heroes."
"It's our duty," Zombie Man said calmly. "We should at least lend a hand."
None of the S-class heroes heeded Saitama's warning and continued their approach toward God Tree Pain. While most of them had suffered defeats in the past, they had all trained diligently since then and improved their abilities. Though they might not be confident in their chances against God Tree Pain alone, they believed that together, they could make a difference, even if it was just to distract him.
However...
God Tree Pain paid no heed to the approaching S-class heroes. His gaze remained fixed on Saitama, who returned his stare, tilting his head curiously.
"So, your little charade is finally coming to an end?" Saitama asked, his arms crossed beneath his cloak.
"Charade?" Child Emperor, now standing beside Saitama, looked at him quizzically.
"Pretending to be a monster and taking out all the other monsters... This should be the finale, right?" Saitama explained, his eyes never leaving God Tree Pain.
Saitama's perception of monsters and humans was vastly different from anyone else's. While the world believed Sweet Mask was a monster infiltrating the ranks of heroes, Saitama saw him as a human and a qualified hero.
The standard for judging someone as a human or a monster should be based on their soul, not their outward appearance.
In Saitama's eyes, God Tree Pain, from any angle, could not be solely defined as a monster. Even if he wasn't a hero, he could only be seen as a human pretending to be a monster.
"Please don't make that kind of judgment! That guy is the most dangerous monster!" Child Emperor exclaimed, taken aback by Saitama's words. A bead of cold sweat formed on his forehead as he spoke urgently to Saitama.
Zombie Man added in a low voice, "Mr. Saitama, that kind of judgment must be wrong..."
Some of the nearby S-class heroes who had heard Saitama's words also turned to look at him, finding his assessment utterly bizarre.
Saitama's face twitched as he responded to the chorus of dissenting voices, "You guys are so noisy. Don't you have any judgment of your own?"
Just then...
God Tree Pain, who had been examining his own hands and the power they held, lifted his head, ignoring the S-class heroes nearby and focusing on Saitama. "It is a bit noisy. Let's clear the stage, shall we?"
God Tree Pain's words caused Child Emperor and the others to pause, a sense of foreboding washing over them. They all turned to face God Tree Pain, feeling as if the sky had suddenly darkened, the atmosphere turning oppressive and terrifying.
God Tree Pain stood there calmly, and then, a blood-red pattern emerged in his eyes, and a terrifying oppressive force radiated from him.
Vvvvv!
This was the result of the combination of spiritual power, eye power, and King's aura—no longer completely illusory but visible to the naked eye. A ripple that distorted the air emanated from God Tree Pain, spreading in all directions.
This ripple swept across the land, causing the ground beneath God Tree Pain's feet to shatter like a spider web, spreading outward in all directions.
"I can't move..."
"This is bad..."
"What is this...?"
All the S-class heroes, except for Saitama, watched in horror as the ripple, accompanied by swirling dust and air waves, rushed toward them.
Like pieces of paper caught in a gale, they were helpless and unable to struggle against the overwhelming pressure that left them speechless, as if their bodies and souls were crushed under a heavy mountain, suffocating them.
In an instant, within a radius of several kilometers around God Tree Pain, the ruins were flattened and reduced to nothingness, and the S-class heroes were swept up in the wreckage, flung thousands of meters away.
Thud! Thud!!
Numerous S-class heroes, along with the rubble that was hurled with them, came to a halt, with the weaker ones like Tanktop Master losing consciousness immediately. The more powerful ones, like Superalloy Darkshine, trembled violently, unable to muster any strength or even control their fingers.
Everyone lay in the ruins, their gazes fixed on God Tree Pain in shock.
"How could this be...?"
"Just the aura alone is enough to..."
Child Emperor lay atop a pile of rubble, unable to move, his eyes filled with fear and disbelief as he stared in the direction of God Tree Pain.
The previous Mono-eye Tyrant, though powerful and capable of defeating most of the S-class heroes, including Child Emperor himself, had at least allowed them to put up a fight.
But now...
Just the aura and mental assault were enough to instantly incapacitate them all, rendering them almost incapable of resistance. What a terrifying display of power!
At that moment, everyone realized something horrifying: God Tree Pain had not merely devoured the Dragon-level monsters; their powers had synergized and evolved.
It was a quantum leap in power!
Like progressing from Tiger-level to Demon-level, and then from Demon-level to Dragon-level!
If God Tree Pain was already a God-level disaster, what would the next evolution bring?
As this realization dawned on Child Emperor and the others, a sense of impending doom washed over them.
This time...
Things might not end well.
But at that moment, they also noticed the one person who hadn't been blown away, who still stood in his original spot—Saitama!
Saitama stood there, his cape billowing in the fierce wind, but his body remained unwavering.
He glanced at the S-class heroes who had been blown away and then turned back to God Tree Pain, a hint of interest flickering in his eyes as he said, "Oh, so you've finally got that final boss vibe. In that case, I, as the last hero standing, will stop you."
"If you can," God Tree Pain replied calmly, and then he threw a punch.
In terms of sheer power, God Tree Pain was now comparable to the ten-tailed Feng Ye's original body, but the difference was that his power was under control.
At a level nearing that of Feng Ye's body in terms of life force, and with Feng Ye's manipulation, God Tree Pain could unleash nearly a hundred percent of his power. This single punch carried the force of Feng Ye's full-power strike.
As God Tree Pain threw this punch, the sky, the earth, life, and souls...
Everything on Earth seemed to tremble at that moment!
Facing this punch, Saitama's eyes finally showed a level of seriousness never seen before, and he threw a punch of his own to meet it.
His serious gaze and stance clearly indicated the nature of this punch—
Serious Punch!
With a distance of nearly ten meters between them, Saitama and God Tree Pain's fists collided. If not for the intense situation, this scene might have looked comical.
But that was not the case.
BOOM!!!
An indescribable, thunderous sound erupted from the point of impact between the two, a sound that surpassed the limits of human endurance. A brilliant white light pierced the sky, connecting heaven and earth.
The clouds exploded, and the earth cracked.
Thousands of meters away, in the ruins, Superalloy Darkshine and the others, who were struggling to get back on their feet, were once again caught in the aftershock and sent flying even further away.
"Ahhh..."
No one could keep their footing; everyone was swept away by the force.
Swish!
High in the sky, a white light flickered briefly, slicing through the heavens for a moment before coming to a halt far away, revealing the two figures within.
After pulling Dragon out of the range of the aftershock, Feng Ye let go and stood tall in the sky, his hands clasped behind his back, calmly gazing toward the direction of the explosion.
As far as the eye could see, the clouds in the sky, centered on the point of collision between God Tree Pain and Saitama, rippled outward, and a massive mushroom cloud, reminiscent of a nuclear explosion, rose majestically, obscuring the sky.
Dragon's body was stiff, frozen in place, as the force of the collision sent shivers down her spine.
"So terrifying..."
"Can that baldy hold his ground...?"
Feng Ye stood tall in the sky, his eyes piercing through the dust and mist, looking toward the center of the battle, and said calmly, "Of course, he can."
